Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi,
I recently rode my bike in heavy rain 2 to 3 times. Now i am noticing a hissy noise near the engine. I'm thinking it is due to chain getting rubbed with something. I'm not sure. Didn't felt any loss in power. Engine seems normal.
Has anyone else also faced the same problem? What could be the reason?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hello friends, I am facing some issues with my 1 month old Apache 160 4v ABS carburetor version dual disk.
I got its first service done on 550 kms and till now It has ran 1500 kms.
After the first service, I started facing some issues like:
1 - Bike's engine or chain making loud noise as soon as the bike reaches 40km/h speed.
2 - The front disc brake makes noise as if something is rubbing with the disc brakes. It makes the noise even when I rotate the front wheel manually with my hands by keeping the bike on main (double) stand
3 - I feel somewhere somehow the pickup is low as opposed to the reviews all over the internet and youtube videos. My bike can reach 0-60 in 10-12 seconds.
Note: I have contacted the service center from where I bought the bike regarding the disc brake noise issue, but they always tell me that its due to dust being stuck within brakes. While I keep it clean as much as I can always, daily. They are not doing anything regarding the issue of disc brake.
Regarding the noise, they say its coz of too much heat in summers that the bike gets heated up. But now its monsoon and still the problem stays.
Please guide me as what could be the cause of these things and how these things could be taken care of? How to resolve such things?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
As per the Senior mechanic whom I interacted couple of days before during my first service of 200 4V, he asked me to clean and lube chain for every 500kms. Just wipe the chain with a cloth by rotating the wheel with your hand. Next use chain lube to spay over the chain by rotating the wheel again.Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostI haven't till now. Only once while first service.
How often should I clean it and what should i use to clean?

Drivechain maintenance plays an important role for its life....just clean it with Diesel/kerosene/petrol whatever then for Lubing use 90 or 40Drivechain maintenance plays an important role for its life....just clean it with Diesel/kerosene/petrol whatever then for Lubing use 90 gear oil or a good chain spray. You can just ask any local mechanic to do the job and they will charge Rs. 50-100

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Get your carb tuning checked. Sometimes, with a new bike, the carburettor setting might be off, causing high speed hiccups or cold start issues. It's a few mins job at the SVC, taking into account yours is a carburetted version. The FI for the most part, cranks easily without trouble irrespective of the temperature outside. But, if you're having idling issues with the FI, even that can be sorted by the same procedure at your SVC.Originally posted by vikramaditya6 View PostGot my bike last week, after 3-4 days of getting it I am facing cold start issues, what to do, please help

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
1st increase your bikes idle rpm and observe, if the issue persists . If it's still present then only go for carb tuning, in most of the cases factory setting of carb gives a combination of both good power and economy. Sometimes svc, makes the setting more worse and always use choke in the morning and start the vehicle.Originally posted by vikramaditya6 View PostGot my bike last week, after 3-4 days of getting it I am facing cold start issues, what to do, please help

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
The Motul products are decent.
After trying different products for the last 2 years, I've settled on using the 3M chain clean + 140 grade Gear Oil from HP.
I somehow felt the Motul chain lube flinged a lot on the rear wheel.
(If I'm feeling lazy, I sometimes use Nulon grease spray, that is otherwise used to lube all the pivot points after the weekly wash).Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostThanks for the tips. Will definitely try.
