It's ok Anyhow , during my run-in I rode @6-7 K RPM's [emoji6]Originally posted by ayrus View PostCorrections
Maintain RPM of 4-6k
No need to use kick starter in the morning. In fact, no need to use it unless the battery goes full flat.
But prolonged non-usage of kicker isn't a good deal.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi guys. I have owned a Pulsar 150 for 9 years now and have clocked around 95000 kilometres in it. It is giving me problems very often these days. So I am looking to upgrade.
I am looking to stay in 150-160cc segment as I cover around 60kms everyday and need the bike to give decent mileage. (I know it depends on many factors but I need to have a general idea)
I am considering Apache RTR 160 4v fi version and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
I have gone through many pages of this thread and have found people say that the mileage is generally around 35-40 ( when ridden at speeds over economy). But most of it are for carburettor version. Could anyone who owns Fi please let me know the mileage they are getting.

I could say, you can expect 40 -45 KMPL for sure in Apache 160 4v whatever the traffic Situation be.Originally posted by Sudan View PostHi guys. But what would be the difference in mileage between Fi and Carb versions?

Just a couple of Kms only ... Only the maintenance and the difference in par carb/FI is the fuel flow to engine.Originally posted by Sudan View PostThanks for replying. Thats great.

BTW FI is costlier than carb model and costlier to maintain !!

Is it. I am aware of the difference in technology. But I thought it would translate to much more fuel efficiency.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostJust a couple of Kms only ... Only the maintenance and the difference in par carb/FI is the fuel flow to engine.

Carb version is a better option then.
Thanks.

Also, Engine heats up when I ride. Hot enough that I cannot touch it for so long. Is that normal?Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostCame across fuel knob part in the manual and I have one doubt.
Am i supposed to turn the knob in off position every time I turn the ignition off?
Also when I should turn it into reserve?
This is my first bike and I'm new to engine temperature. What are normal engine temperatures while riding?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yes , As the (IC) internal combustion takes place the engine should be pretty heat . Moreover the new engines are prompt to more heat than the older ones as they are subjected to wear and tear of engine components.Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostAlso, Engine heats up when I ride. 35-40kmpl is what you get on 200 4v. On the 160 4v, you can expect 40-45 or even 45-50kmpl.Originally posted by Sudan View PostHi guys. You can go for FI. Only condition is that you must always have at least 1 bar of fuel or the fuel pump will go caput. You can always keep it in reserve (like I do) but some argue that it is not a good habit. So, you can just turn off the fuel knob when parking the bike. Just keep an eye on the fuel gauge if you are always running with the knob in reserve.Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostCame across fuel knob part in the manual and I have one doubt.

Also when I should turn it into reserve? What else do you expect from an engine?? And why do you want to touch it?? For this engine, it is perfectly normal as long as you don't feel unbearable heat on your legs while riding.Originally posted by krushnat90 View PostAlso, Engine heats up when I ride.
