And for everything else, refer the manual.

Don't post things which aren't issues because of which real problems of people are lost.

And use the google search if you feel anything is going wrong with your carbureted motorcycle.
      Couldn't agree more.

Motorcycles give out heat and there isn't anything out of the usual anyone could do to counter that.

Motorcycles vibrate, especially single cylinders, as even with counter balancers in place the revs show up some time or the other, nothing can be done about that.

Fuel efficiency is dependent on rider and riding conditions, if you're not satisfied with the motorcycle in spite of everything else being ideal then that just means you got the wrong motorcycle.

      Other than change consumables there isn't any magic being done during servicing, so as long as you adequately change consumables and inspect components on a timely or preventive basis then all is well as long as you do not experience the following;

      1. Motorcycle not starting/stopping.
      2. Motorcycle emitting unusual scraping/grinding/howling noises.
      3. Motorcycle giving out smoke or leaving oil residue on SP and Exhaust tips.
      4. Motorcycle not running in a straight line or turning as and when required.
      5. Motorcycle accelerating/decelerating with hiccups.

      ... and the likes.

      Cheers,

Mileage! Not an issue you say? Hell it is an issue for me. Again looking forward to get better figures in mileage after couple of services. You tell me, why will I got for 160 4v if it can't even give 40-45kmpl, I would have opted for 200 4v then for 35- 37kmpl. And please note I don't rev much nor I go above 55kmph (follows break-in period). So it is kindoff matter of concern for me.

Yea yea alot people are posting here and their issues are not attended.

If you don't mind, what issues you are personally going through.

        Rakeshchn!

I think they have set the idle rpm which even I can do and mileage nothing. They won't do anything till we complete 3 services. Bcz they say after 3 services the bike would give atleast 50kmpl, if not then they will fiddle with the carb.

Yes, 1.2ltr is available. Check in Google also you will find it and in service centre it should be available.

Yes I have already put a word to senior who they tell is from Chennai TVS plant and he was apologetic and said will look into it.
Heard about run in or simply here to write long-a$$ replies to show you know something?

That's why i said, READ. SVC don't entertain these complains, only because people have bought the motorcycle without any knowledge what-so-ever!

If you feel your bike is heating, please do check a SBK! You'll probably post how you sat on a volcano lol

Yeah dats what i felt when i first rode this bike in test drive with single disc variant where i was parallel checking with other 160 segment's where the models i have for choice were Bajaj's NS 160 4v, Yamaha's fz S v2.0, Suzuki's Gixxer, Honda's Xblade and Hornet and finally Apache with 160 4v got my attention and gained my trust. Not the new bike talk but now i m 2500 km old on this bike and i m still loving the machine

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience

              Hi Guys,

I am up for my 2nd free service as i m running currently on 2580 kms. Last time i had oil change so is there anything else other things i have keep in mind this time.

              Any pointers would help.

Issues i like to address are
              1. Heating - may b da most controversial topic happening in this group right now but i feel the heat emitting from machine is what i concern even after 2500km, jus a regular check up
              2. Chain - May b tighting or lossing would work i guess
              3. Gear - Uneven false neutrals when down gearing from 5 to 3 or 2
              4. Rear brake - I had a part installed earlier (dint get exact name of it) as i had issue with rear disc sqeaking which once fixed has now started again slightly
              5. Cold start - engine puts off suddenly even after good revving and it mostly at cold start but its also happening in normal running as well
              5. Mileage - Damm, i m hardly getting 35 kmpl and yes it is a concern cos petrol is now 82/lit and growing.

i just rode bike in normal and heavy traffic conditions in hyderabad roads for good 40-50 kms/day basis with decently normal driving around 40-60 and also with heavy showers in city so lot of things in the above can be cos of dos.

Feel free to comment on above

              Thanks,
              R.R

I remember reading your were charged Rs 330 for oil in which case it would be mineral oil and not TVS TRU4 fully synthetic oil, which would cost around Rs.700. In the service manual oil replacement is given every 6000 kms considering fully synthetic oil. So you may need an oil change within 3000 kms from last change.

My first service is due soon as bike has done 485 kms and its noticeably rougher in lower rev range. It feels like something is holding back the engine when idle riding in any gear (1500-3000 RPM) but its smoother after 3500 rpm till 4500 which is my max for now. Heating is there by not alarming or not high enough to stall the engine when idling in traffic. Gear shifts are still smooth.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience

Got my bike serviced today at Logtech Motors Trivandrum, and my very first experience with TVS Service didn't go too well I should say. I stayed at the service centre to ensure all minimum necessary things are done. 1.2 lts of TRU4 synthetic oil was filled, oil filter changed and customary washing and wiping done. Lubed the chain with TVS chain spray and thats pretty much it. I know the 1st free service coupon lists 20 + check points but as expected nothing much done, which is ok because I can check

Now where it didnt go well was that I was charged Rs.100+tax labour charge for chain lubrication, in addition to oil and filter charge of Rs.641. I talked to service manager pointing out in the free service coupon that chain lubrication is covered. He says 100 Rs is the chain lube cost although invoice clearly states labour. After 10 mins of back and forth i realised no use talking to this guys and left SVC. Afterwards called TVS customer care at 18002587555 and registered a compliant. Per process TVS tertiary manager will be intimated and I will be contacted to take the matter forward. Lets see how the story unfolds...

Dats what des service center people do and dats how i ended up going to and fro to service center to get my rear brake squeaking issue done and finally after 1 week after 1st service and after my regular taunting they got it fixed which is so annoying and also time waste. I had to complaint but no action or initiative has been followed up by the TVS customer care fellas

Hi guys Im planning to get 1604v this Thursday and wanted to know how much mileage I can expect. I talked to a local guy who owns the drum version and he said he is getting around 45kmpl and he has done around 1500kms but here many people are telling that they are getting avg of 35. I stay in Bangalore and have to ride to office daily for about 60kms (up and down). so wanted to get that clarified.
                        Thanks

We have mixed mileage figures here, as of now we can guarantee around 40 kmpl from this machine.

Yes, it was covered in first service itself. Now brake works fine and only squeaks if water gets accumulated near that disc area which is quite common in rainy season or hard braking

                                Hi Guys,
Today i got my bike for 2nd service and mentioned all my issues i have so far including the engine heat thing and mileage thing. They added something called top up for Engine oil which is 100 rs on the worksheet. As i inquired, it is to top up the engine oil to full to keep engine run smoothly and as i had to ask why 100 for top up they said that for normal vehicles like Jupiter or victor their top up cost is 30 rs but in Apache vehicle they top up with spl rtr oils. i dont believe them totally but i would like to have a look after the service at what they have done. Meanwhile the part i got replaced was a brake pad set which had this squeaking issues from elder versions it seems so the replaced part is new from TVS itself which is running under trail to keep check on the squeaking issue on existing Apache bikes so i had the replacement in 1st service and it seems working good to me.

                                Cheers,
