    1. Mileage testing videos on YouTube is not conclusive, I can do a controlled test on my P220 and show it returns around 60 kmpl, but fact is that when it comes to practical use the average FE would be way below that. In fact I did just the same to prove to a close friend who was getting all hyped up about his Dazzler returning poor FE in comparison to YouTube mileage tests. The method I used was reserve to reserve and as per calculation we got over 60 kmpl, if possible I'll do the same again on the P220 when I go home this weekend, wont prove anything more than what I've already mentioned but I'll do it just for the heck of it as the motorcycle has not been used for a really long time now, any excuse to ride.

    2. Even V3 returns only 45 kmpl at best with Liquid Cooling and Closed Fuel Injection, so it doesn't make sense to expect the same from an air cooled carburetted motorcycle.

Right bro, but dis sudden hype in mileage topic is all due to Petrol prices, its burning our pockets. 87.14rs per litre is present Hyderabad's Indian oil pricing. We use to get Speed or Premium petrol for that price. I Choose 160 over 200 jus for mileage sake and now i m feeling that may be i would have taken platina or something is what the situation all over with the bikers mind and less mileage thing. We like powerful bikes but on what cost if the prices are increasing like this day by day. I may have to keep it as a precious asset in collection under Parking and opt for public transport instead. We cant change the bike nor prices will go low so yes the mileage issues will be the major topic for the group to discuss.

I like the way to put up things about such topics but whatever technicality terms and mechanics u explain ppl still dy will ask why less mileage. So thanks for your patience for explaining the mechanics and yes we will take utmost care to keep the bike in good condition. Dats the least we can do for the love of out bikes.
      Safe ride,
      RebellionRiderRTR

Only compression doesnt determine a motor's mileage.
The motor on the RTR is fuel hungry, it was never very fuel efficient including the previous gen RTRs.
The japs are designed with decent fuel economy in mind.

Anyway RTRs deliver slightly less mileage for the first few thousand kms, after that tune the carb if its running rich, that should push the mileage over 40 kmpl.
Also shift to 10w40 grade of engine oil, 10w30 is not all that great as the motor loves to heat up.

              Haven't dyno tested it yet
In theory it should be generating over 30 hp and torque over 23 nm

Does feel like it produces the above numbers after riding it.

                    Hi Rahul,
                    I too have converted my RTR 160to 200cc 4v.
I have few questions regarding your build
1)Did u change the crankshaft to that of RTR-180 retained with stock crankshaft (with piston pocketing)
2)Does air filter box assembly is of Stock or of rtr-200 ones
3)whether the clutch plate assembly is from RTR 200?what are all the parts charged.
4)what's the diameter of bendpipe you are using?

                    Thanks,
                    RAM

Not really. My old 2007 RTR 160 used to consistently give me mileage above 50 kmpl during my daily commute to office. Japanese designed for decent fuel economy? Ask the Yamaha FZ owners about the mileage .

And, when it comes to mileage, a lot depends on your riding style too.

Riding style is a main factor in FE i agree
But differnt motor have different characteristics.
Few RTRs return arnd 50 kmpl but majority of the RTRs i know return between 38 - 45 kmpl

Fz16 was never fuel efficient i know but v2 delivers decent mileage.

Hi all fellow riders, I am a newbie here.Although I'd often used to search for posts, motorcycle experiences by riders and found to be much useful info for automobiles.
I have ridden pulsars and was not satisfactory upto the mark.

                            BUDGET BIKE:
Am a college goer and had great desire of buying Pulsar RS200, KTM in the past, but then only I realized that the budget allotted for me was 1 Lakh. As the fuel prices are skyrocketing already at least a bike which offers a good features and should be a VFM was in my mind.
LOL ,I can see many are asking lift in roads nowadays as many aren't using their vehicles.
Coming to the point ,Am a tall guy ~6.1 ft need a commuting cum touring(occasional) .

I had a ridden few bikes , even test rides and they are :

                            1.Pulsar 220 F :

Definitely a good bike with good fuel economy ,but an outdated one.who gonna dislike that dual projectors !!?... Had a short drive... typically from a pulsar family !! With 5 yr insurance scheme came into effect all bike rates have been increased atleast by 5000 rs.

                            On-road price : 1.15 Lakh~

Out of budget ,Less FE so dropped.

                            2.CB HORNET 160 R :

Almost good in all aspects, had a test ride .Honda engines are a Bliss and renowned one for refinement.Even the ABS model has been launched .

                            PROS:
ABS,Macho looks, LED Headlight, Larger fuel tank, Hazard light ,Fat tyres...

                            CONS:
Vibes can be felt beyond 7k rpm , Absence of Engine kill switch , Pillion seat is not much good..

On- road price: 1.03 -1.11 Lakh. (3 variants)

                            3.YAMAHA Fz 2.0 :

A perfect commuter machine which ticks in almost all aspects ,but the major drawback is the riding posture which is not good for tall riders and I had felt wrist pain in bumper to bumper traffic often.

                            On-road price : 1.05 Lakh ~

                            4.TVS APACHE 160 4V :

Although I had never been a fan for the RTR s, time made me to be so. I had a couple of test rides and really fallen in love with that mini beast indeed.
Here is my test riding experience:

As I went to test drive the APACHE 160 4v , the salesperson said just drive and feel it.That was a fine evening and it was very cloudy and I just rode for few metres only andso the next morning again had a test ride for about a couple of km. Absolutely everything was good. Thanks to TVS for these VFM, performance BEAST!!!

                            PROS :

Tuned, Refined engine (Lol I asked salesman is this BMW engine ),Excellent mileage in its segment (ciompany claimed :62) ,Good power either on paper or on roads whatever it be, Good stability, Feel free to use easy clutch , Good front disc brake bite , High ground clearance , Smoothy gearbox ,Nice looks, ....

                            CONS :

Only a major drawback is the turning radius (little larger compared to other bikes as wheelbase is high ) ,No LED headlight.

So you guys ,I would like to know how is your ride experience with APACHE 160 4v?
                            Any serious issues faced?

                            THANKS IN ADVANCE.....

Will be Keep posting once the bike has been bought.

Go for rtr 160 ,it has better engine refinement than my 2018 hornet. Also, you can check gixxer abs or xtreme 200 abs. ( within 1 lakh ,with great mileage)
