Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Slight flickering at idle RPMs is normal but it must not flicker as much as a bike with AC electricals. But if it flickers too much, it is not normal.Originally posted by San1234 View PostSince I'm new to biking I don't know whether this is an issue or not, when I start the bike in the morning the headlight flickers for a few times and then becomes normal. Is there a problem? and also what is the ideal powerband for the bike in order to extract maximum fun?
The bike reaches its peak power at 8k RPM. For the best throttle response, stay within the 6-7k RPM range. But milage will take a hit though.Last edited by ayrus; 10-06-2018, 11:20 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
If you need Lot of fun !!? Just you can play with sprockets ....(changing the front & rear sprockets )Originally posted by San1234 View PostPlease if someone could help me with this?
*A bigger rear sprocket/ smaller front sprocket will give you an increase in acceleration but decrease your top speed.
*A smaller rear sprocket/bigger front sprocket will reduce you acceleration but increase the top speed.
Generally the rear sprockets will be changed in most cases just you can do that.(reduce 3 or 4 tooths from the current sprocket)
IF YOU NEED MORE FUN STILL !!??
CAUTION: (This will void your engine warranty)
*ECU FLASH/ (Change the ECU to pwertronics or whatever it be)
*K&N air filter + new aftermarket free flow exhaust .
(If ECU IS REMAPPED / CHANGED ,the air filter and exhaust also need to be changed )
This process will cost you at least 10k
Bucks!!!
Definitely noticeable change in power, acceleration, speeds will be felt !!!

3.5 inches on the disc variant, see below post-Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostThen Apache 160 4v also 3.5 inches?
(Rims)
I think ayrus meant 2.5" in the last sentence.Originally posted by ayrus View PostDrum variant – 110/80 tyres on 2.5" rims
Disc variant – 130/70 tyres on 3.5" rims
You can fit the 130/70 tyres on 3.5" rims but it is not recommendedLast edited by Shashank K R; 10-07-2018, 06:49 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi I 've booked the bike (RR) and reserved it on my name today.
Expected delivery : 18,19 th of October.
(I itself inspected (PDI) and picked a good one , engine run also made ! )
I hope the ASC are not much keen on services so what should I do ?
For the warranty and insurance sake I must do a 3 services with them I hope and then shall I shift to a reliable local mechanic ?
I am not a self mechanic like you guys and knew only little DIY ASAP.
clarify me :
*How to maintain a new bike?
*How to have a good engine life ?
Is it safe to change the engine oils at 3k kms ? (After 3 services)
What else should be done?
Thanks in advance ...Last edited by Aswinlogi; 10-08-2018, 02:34 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
About this one, I wouldn't suggest waiting that late to change oils. 2300 to 2500kms is always the sweetest time frame for changing oils. The oil gets used up even quicker depending upon riding conditions (like city where shifting is much frequent).Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostIs it safe to change the engine oils at 3k kms ? OMG oil will only last fr 2.5K kms ??Originally posted by Bismaya View PostAbout this one, I wouldn't suggest waiting that late to change oils. 2300 to 2500kms is always the sweetest time frame for changing oils. Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Depends on riding style as well. Regular city commutes and frequent shifts will use up the oil more quickly. While 3k is a figurative value, from experience I've found that the oil is used up even sooner an have often found 2.5k a safe limit for changing. Some people even change earlier if they get the chance (as early as 2.2k to to 2.3k). There are synthetic variants which go for longer but I'm more of a mineral oil user.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostOMG oil will only last fr 2.5K kms ??[My Motorcycles]

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Guys, regarding some of the regular maintenance questions like when to change oil and when to clean & lubricate chain - There are general guidelines we can follow, but make sure we periodically inspect and take action if necessary. This periodic inspection takes out the guess work and also avoid unnecessary wastage.
Recommended oil change interval is ~ 3000 kms for mineral oil and ~5000 for fully synthetic. But inspect oil level and quality every 1000 kms and take action if needed. Owners manual describes the inspection procedure and it takes less than 5 mins to do it ourselves.
Recommended chain cleaning and lubrication every 500 Kms. But visually inspect chain for dirt/dryness and slack once a week and take action if needed.sigpicOm Yamahaya Namaha...praise the lord!
