Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I also experience the rev hangs in down shift..In fact you are right its more visible during downshifts rather than upshifts. But happens on both. In short we can say the GREAT enthusiasm this motor shows to rev up is not there when it revs downOriginally posted by RebellionRiderRTR View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hey it gives me 35kml in heavy traffic, with pillion, and driving under 60kmph.Originally posted by Sashwin View PostHi guys Im planning to get 1604v this Thursday and wanted to know how much mileage I can expect. I talked to a local guy who owns the drum version and he said he is getting around 45kmpl and he has done around 1500kms but here many people are telling that they are getting avg of 35. I stay in Bangalore and have to ride to office daily for about 60kms (up and down). so wanted to get that clarified.
Thanks

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Surprisingly after my second service I jus drove it for the same stretch with my regular driving in da traffic with Da same pillion and to my amaze it gave me 42kmpl today. May b it's Da climate cos my bike and machine was getting drenched everyday under heavy rains daily recently before my service and on sunny day it almost stood up to its mark with better mileage feature. Damm, dis machine surprises me everytimeOriginally posted by Lin View PostHey it gives me 35kml in heavy traffic, with pillion, and driving under 60kmph.Safe ride,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
RTR 200 is always Da best of its kind and camparing it's figures with 160 4v is not quite right as v see the company figures and actually results are differing alot with des machines but company claims qnd YouTube videos proves dat it has the stamina to pull that mark so I seriously don't campare them but as the bikes both mostly look alike and feel alike but revv differently with there own performance pros and cons. In 160 segment 160 4v is absolute stunning motorcycle I see. I rest my case here.Originally posted by vengymgen View PostEven rtr 200 gives the same figures I guess. If it is true, then rtr200 is VFM here with more power.Safe ride,

This is the reply to @Lin for his post:

Not really, I checked TVS India website and 1L has same 3Ps protection.
P.S. I can't quot the post, something wrong with xbhp. That is why I posted the link to the post and the poster instead.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yeah I also checked TVS Spare parts store and they only have 1L can. I was there when they filled oil in my bike and they used 2 bottles to take 1.2L. Those bottles had the 3Ps mark on them. By the way the oil has a weird blue color to it instead of golden yellow, it looked like kerosene to me

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Topping up engine oil between replacements is not usually needed for modern 4 stroke small capacity bike engines. But oil can burn and reduce in quantity if engine is too much stressed either by continuously running for very long duration or being revved high to redline regularly. I suggest you check the engine oil level using dip stick every 500 kms and buy a bottle to top up only if you see the oil level fall below minimum mark.Originally posted by satish! Okay. But in the service centre I checked and saw the 3Ps was only on the 1.2ltr bottle not on 1ltr.Originally posted by arnuld View PostThis is the reply to @Lin for his post:

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hello everyone, Newbie here.First of all, I would like to thank all Forum members & wrt this thread Mr RebellionRiderRTR.I bought my RTR1604v (Dual disc Carb version) 3 weeks back. While I was torn between Fz v2 & RTR 1604v, this thread helped me clear a few points.I'm close to 500 kms down, due for the first service in a week and below are some worrying things to note:1. Engine Starting: Kickstart doesnt start the engine even after 4-5 hard kicks & electric start starts it on the 3rd or 4th time.Once it starts there's no issue after that.Chennai climate isn't cold now, considering it's only September & it isnt rainy now.I'm not sure, If increasing the idle rpm would help. Initially it was 1000 rpm, but the emission had petrol smell so I raised it it just a bit to 1200 rpm.Now the petrol smell is not there but starting is still difficult.2. Breaks:Braking is actually less effective, compared to hornet or fz.Like many pointed out, There is that squeaking noise right from day 1. Should get it checked on the 1st service. My friend has the same one, and his brakes make a louder noise than mine.3. Gearshift:When downshifting from 4th /5th, sometimes, 1st gear doesnt fall into place.Even in slow speed traffic, I've seen this.Once you rev up and try it again, this doesnt happen.4. Mileage:Nothing to complain here. I'm commuting to office daily and I'm stuck in traffic at least 20-30 mins daily. It's somewhere between 35 - 42 kmpl now. Happy for now.No matter what, Riding this bike is pure bliss (not to forget the suspension).I'm fairly lean and weigh under 60kg. When Apache was first launched, I was convinced, this heavy a bike would never suit me.But all those fears are gone, and while the 'Heavy' Feeling of the Apache remains intact, it's a pretty impressive ride.Looking forward to many happy miles on this one.

Here are some pointers from my experience on the bike, 3500kms already so
1. Cold starts can be natural with the new machine which need more running, to make them tuned and start on first kick or shelf while taking bike in mornings and its 300kms alone so fuel smell or burning smell from machine or heating will be covered by ur 1st service so keep observing.
2. Dont wait for brakes, if u r getting sounds from day one. Its not like it will b on 1st service or something, some things needed to address right away or just ask them to giv you a new bike as its under 1 month still.
3. Gears need more shifting and service so i suggest to keep things in mind while going for service and let them know exactly what u dont want from the machine
4. Dats again it depends on driving and if u feel any sudden drop with regular driving you could tell the same thing SVC.
Finally Congratulations on your new bike and Welcome to the club.
Safe ride,
RebellionRiderRTR
