I have ridden pulsars and was not satisfactory upto the mark.

    BUDGET BIKE:
Am a college goer and had great desire of buying Pulsar RS200, KTM in the past, but then only I realized that the budget allotted for me was 1 Lakh. As the fuel prices are skyrocketing already at least a bike which offers a good features and should be a VFM was in my mind.
LOL ,I can see many are asking lift in roads nowadays as many aren't using their vehicles.
Coming to the point ,Am a tall guy ~6.1 ft need a commuting cum touring(occasional) .

I had a ridden few bikes , even test rides and they are :

    1.Pulsar 220 F :

Definitely a good bike with good fuel economy ,but an outdated one.who gonna dislike that dual projectors !!?... Had a short drive... typically from a pulsar family !! With 5 yr insurance scheme came into effect all bike rates have been increased atleast by 5000 rs.

    On-road price : 1.15 Lakh~

Out of budget ,Less FE so dropped.

    2.CB HORNET 160 R :

Almost good in all aspects, had a test ride .Honda engines are a Bliss and renowned one for refinement.Even the ABS model has been launched .

    PROS:
ABS,Macho looks, LED Headlight, Larger fuel tank, Hazard light ,Fat tyres...

    CONS:
Vibes can be felt beyond 7k rpm , Absence of Engine kill switch , Pillion seat is not much good..

On- road price: 1.03 -1.11 Lakh. (3 variants)

    3.YAMAHA Fz 2.0 :

A perfect commuter machine which ticks in almost all aspects ,but the major drawback is the riding posture which is not good for tall riders and I had felt wrist pain in bumper to bumper traffic often.

    On-road price : 1.05 Lakh ~

    4.TVS APACHE 160 4V :

Although I had never been a fan for the RTR s, time made me to be so. I had a couple of test rides and really fallen in love with that mini beast indeed.
Here is my test riding experience:

As I went to test drive the APACHE 160 4v , the salesperson said just drive and feel it.That was a fine evening and it was very cloudy and I just rode for few metres only andso the next morning again had a test ride for about a couple of km. Absolutely everything was good. Thanks to TVS for these VFM, performance BEAST!!!

    PROS :

Tuned, Refined engine (Lol I asked salesman is this BMW engine ),Excellent mileage in its segment (ciompany claimed :62) ,Good power either on paper or on roads whatever it be, Good stability, Feel free to use easy clutch , Good front disc brake bite , High ground clearance , Smoothy gearbox ,Nice looks, ....

    CONS :

Only a major drawback is the turning radius (little larger compared to other bikes as wheelbase is high ) ,No LED headlight.

So you guys ,I would like to know how is your ride experience with APACHE 160 4v?
    Any serious issues faced?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE.....

Will be Keep posting once the bike has been bought.

    Hi Ashwin,

This is Apache 160 4v family. Obviously we will like to suggest you about 160 4v itself but again its up to you what suits u and your requirements. Firstly, create a check list and see what comes into your category so that you can choose from less options which will be easier to you. This is just a suggestion.

Coming to Our hero of the segment, Apache 160 4v - It has its own pros and cons with different riders here and the major issue running around is Mileage, dats all bcos of the raising petrol prices. But if i have to speak about the machine, guess what, its just amazing. Trust me, i m 6.2', drives around 45-50 km daily in Cut throat traffic and i still feel my ass comforting, compared to other bikes in segment. I use to drive Honda CB unicorn which was the best bike for tall riders and i know i cant except such wonderful comfort level with 160 4v but its not bad. I feel comfortable now as i m around 4000kms old on this machine and it keeps me excited always with its revv and exhaust. So, as a tall rider i could say it is a very cool bike and also with 2 services old, bike still feel the same as the drove for my Test drive and that surprise punch i got and as u felt still exists. So choose wisely, we have 2 options available in this which are single disc, double disc and the Fi dual. I owe a dual disc variant, blue which is carburetor version so if u r expecting more mileage, go for FI variant. If mileage is ur concern u can go for Fi variant which also gets with led headlamps and tvs is also offering 5 years/30000kms warranty on the machine so choose wisely.

    Cheers,
    R.R
    Safe ride,

I think fi variant doesn't have led headlight.

Only hornet and xblade gets led headlight in 150cc segment ; rtr 200 has 55/65 watt halogens.

To be honest, LED headlights are crap on most bikes which comes with it. and the colour temperature is also not good for foggy conditions. on top of that if it goes kaput. replacement costs are much higher if not in warranty.

Yes, true. Honda only does show off business, like yamaha did it with fz 250 and v 3

                  Hi RebellionRider RTR ,

Thanks for the kind info Bro, ya I too don't feel any uncomfort for tall riders..and I hope FI version doesn't get LED for sake anyhow few differences between carb and FI variants are

Gear indicator is present in FI model and it produces 0.3 hp higher ,but FI are good ones (in fuel ,air ratio during combustion in engine..bla bla) ...I hope FI variant is a costlier by 5000 .

                          Hi Aswin,

                          As per TVS website, https://www.tvsmotor.com/Warranty-policy

                          For Motorcycles,
5 years/60000 kms warranty for motorcycles
                          For Scootors,
5 years/50000 kms warranty for motorcycles
                          For Apache RR 310,
2 years/30000 kms warranty for motorcycles
                          For Moped,
3 years/30000 kms warranty for motorcycles

                          • Conditions apply | #whichever is earlier
                          • The above warranty is applicable on all TVS 2 wheelers purchased on or after 11th Sep'17
For more details, please refer the Warranty section of the Owners manual

but as per the service center sales person i spoke to, it was 30000 kms/ 3years for motorcycles and Apache series dats confirmed and other 2yrs/20000 kms warranty comes under extended warranty which may not differ much with the earlier warranty policy.

Remember it comes with * so as we speak policy only takes warranty cover only on Machine and only few major parts of the bike.

We have videos in youtube on warranty as well where a guy met bike with accident and the cover had be claimed dint cover on the bore like Piston and valves. So, more info on the warranty clarity is required.

                          Cheers,

As per my experience, low beam is not bad but high beam is good.

In my view, difference between the watts will only brighten the beam than the reach on the roads. No matter what, I m satisfied with the stock product and it's sufficient for city ride in my opinion. Some of them got fog rides for long rides so if that's the case if you don't want additional attachments may be going for higher watt or led headlight may b suggestible but not advisable.
                                Safe ride,
