It happens sometimes. I have a 200 4v and the fuel gauge is fairly reloliable. But yeah.... sometimes it drops from 3 to 1 though. And if it drops from 3 to 1 directly, it'll take a bit longer for fuel light to come.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I guess it's the inaccuracy of the digital meter. This thing happened with me before. I assume you know that a single bar on the meter equals to 1.5 litre of petrol and the bike gives around 44-46 kmpl mileage. My bike had run 180 kms when I refilled it and there were 4 bars on the indicator i.e. 6 litres of petrol in the bike. To my surprise the first bar disappeared when it reached 250 kms i.e. it had run 70 kms on 1.5 litre. The mileage came around 48. But to my even bigger surprise when it reached 345 kms two bars disappeared i.e. from 3rd to 1st bar. I couldn't figure out how come 3 litres petrol was consumed in just 95 kms wheres earlier only 1.5 litre petrol was consumed in 70 kms !!! So I decided to check the mileage and finally it came out to be 45-46 in city and 50 in Highway. So dont worry about it. It may be the inaccuracy in the indicator.Originally posted by anmol163 View PostHi Everyone, I notice a strange thing today in my Apache 160 4V.
The Fuel indicator dropped directly from Third Block to First Block. Has it happened with anyone else?
What may be the reason???

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
The issue is, if one block on the indicator means 1.5 litre of petrol, bike should be running on reserved fuel.. But this is not the case.. Bike is still not on reserve.. I am totally confusedOriginally posted by Akshaymishra94 View PostI guess it's the inaccuracy of the digital meter. This thing happened with me before. If you mean to say that only the reserved fuel bar is left and visible but you haven't switched to reserve knob and the bike is still going, then don't be confused at all. This is normal. As i said, the indicator is not 100% correct and accurate. This has happened with me also several times. My bike keeps on going even if the indicator shows reserved fuel bar. Don't worry ,the bike will stop eventually once the petrol is over. Then you will have to change the knob to reserve.Originally posted by anmol163 View PostThe issue is, if one block on the indicator means 1.5 litre of petrol, bike should be running on reserved fuel.. Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Don't confuse yourselves , just remember it's just a indication of fuel and not the accurated one. Ensure you have adequate fuel while travelling / riding , anyhow a one block / two block should be on RESERVE capacity.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi ,I 've did a few trips but not much of it were in group actually.Originally posted by Gnayak View PostHello Guys,
Has anyone in this group done Touring on their Apache with pillion? Can you share your experience regarding it? Is it comfortable for both rider and pillion? Can it cruise easily at 80-100km/h with pillion and luggage?
Thanks in advance.
Recently I have did 300+ Kms in a day with a pillion . The riding style is good enough and very relaxed.(Thanks for the conventional bar )
The single seat is softer and it can easily accommodate a pillion .
Coming to cruise speeds the bike feels stress free around 70-95 km/ph . Beyond that the speed goes up gradually upto 120 km/ph (checked twice).

How is the engine refinement between speeds of 80 to 90 kmph?Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostHi ,I 've did a few trips but not much of it were in group actually.

It can happen if the bike was on side stand then you sit on it came upright.Originally posted by anmol163 View PostHi Everyone, I notice a strange thing today in my Apache 160 4V.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
For the people who want to use higher wattage bulbs in headlight, this might intrest you.
I own the old gen RTR, the armature/ coil was rewounded with a thicker copper wire and the RR unit was replaced
This is commonly known as coil-rewinding.
I have put load upto 160w without any battery drainage issue.
I guess same can be done for the 1604v

Well.... sir. Your mods to the Apaches are really interesting. I'll definitely get to you if I do any mods but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon in the near future.Originally posted by Rahul.g View PostFor the people who want to use higher wattage bulbs in headlight, this might intrest you.

Coming to the headlight thing of the 160 4v, a person tried a 60/55W bulb and the bulb refused to work. Then he tried the stock 35/35W bulb and it worked fine. Currently he's running on a 40W LED. It seems that there is some mechanism preventing usage of higher wattage bulbs.

Haven't really got a chance to check out electrical aspect of 160 4vOriginally posted by ayrus View PostWell.... sir. Your mods to the Apaches are really interesting. I'll definitely get to you if I do any mods but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon in the near future.

I'll post here once something comes up for 160 4v.
Btw can someone confirm the no of teeth in front and rear sprocket of 160 4v?
I think it uses a 45t rear sprocket and also can you confirm the no of links in chain?
Im currently running a 3.06 final drive(15-46) and want to try 15-45

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
The sprockets for the 160 4v are 13-45. 46t to 45t won't make a difference IMO as the difference is just 2%.Originally posted by Rahul.g View PostHaven't really got a chance to check out electrical aspect of 160 4v

For the number of chain links, I think I have to count on one of my friends' bike but it'll be tedious for sure.

I have 2 engine of old gen 160
One has been converted to 250 4v and the other 200 4v
The internal gear ratio remains that of stock 160 and final drive both are running 3.06 (15-46)
I just wanted to try the 45t sprocket for a better power delivery.
