Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
The funny thing is I booked a carb version but I got the service book for the fi version.Originally posted by hariharan618 View PostThe fi version has a gear position indicator with white back light console and has a lap timer. Everything else is same as the carb variant.
TLDR: I booked the carb variant as tvs Svc doesn't know to service fi bikes.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hello Guys,
Has anyone in this group done Touring on their Apache with pillion? Can you share your experience regarding it? Is it comfortable for both rider and pillion? Can it cruise easily at 80-100km/h with pillion and luggage?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, it seems that you are interested in both fz25 and 160 4v . I did test ride 160 4v and fz 250 and below are my observation:Originally posted by Gnayak View PostHello Guys,

1. Apache engine is very much refined and free revving.
2. It has low pillion seat height than fz and the seat cushioning is softer than fz.
3. It has balance of ride quality and handling, it's suspension is soft when we go over a pothole and during high speeds it becomes adequately firm. It's tuned by renowned company showa.
4.It can easily cruise in speeds of 80 to 100 kmph with pillion and luggage.
Also it has petal disc brakes which are sharp compared to fz 250.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I see that you're looking for a new bike after your NS200. Also it seems that you're looking for bikes costing from 1L to 3L. I'd say that first get your priorities sorted out, so that making a choice will be easier. First decide on how much you can spend and/or how much power do you want. I see that your priorities and mainly touring capabilities with a pillion+luggage. I'll just comment on the bike on which I have experience on.Originally posted by Gnayak View PostHello Guys,

The Apache 160 4v is a very refined and smooth bike in which you won't feel and vibrations or stress even post 80 kmph with a heavy payload. It is not something that is impressive by itself but it is definitely impressive for a 160cc machine. I've done 100 kmph with a 150+ kg payload (read as me and my friend) on his 160 4v. It was a kind of speedrun though. The bike struggled beyond 90 kmph to pick up speed but it didn't feel strained even at 100 kmph. For solo rides, the 160 4v feels as powerful as the 200 4v, thanks to its shorter gearing.
The Apache 200 4v is also refined and smoo but not as much as the 160 4v. The cc and torque advantage of the 200 becomes apparent once it is loaded with more weight. For solo rides, it's performance is about the same as the 160 4v but with a pillion, the 200 feels significantly quicker to pick up speed. It can do 100 kmph all day with pillion+luggage. My personal opinion is that the Apache 200 has better pillion comfort than the NS200, after having taken the backseat on both the bikes. The pillion comfort of the 200 is better than the 160 4v when the rider has a backpack, thanks to the raised split seat. Otherwise the 160 4v has better pillion comfort.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yeah I can understand your query buddy, SVC guys are careless as it's known . They will change the bikes which are at the Test-riding section once those bikes are sold. So if the odo is 11 Kms and you said engine was hot because it was test rided by someone . Anyhow don't worry for those and after invoice no-one will touch your bike.Originally posted by hariharan618 View PostAswinlogi please have a look at this
But keep one thing on mind as we have seen on YouTube about the bike's specs, features videos which were actually taken at the manufacturing facility. All our bikes had been test rided there and it would be around 100s of Kms at least !!!!
So it's not you're the first guy to touch or ride your bike...but at the same time don't rely on ASC guys as well.
Cheers

Yeah price varies ... Medium sized spray of TVS costs around 150 rs , but ASC will lube a small quantity for free.Originally posted by hariharan618 View PostSure bro. Thanks. How much it costs? The tvs one? I have seen one called motul a friend of mine has
Note : Lubing charges are included during the free services also. Maybe at some locations it's free.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Guys I have been using SAE 140 gear oil from BOSCH to lube my 1604v chain and its absolutely great. Its not a sticky mess like spray type chain lubes available from various brands including TVS, but it is thick enough to stick to chain and sprockets without spilling or dripping. Its also very cost effective compared to chain sprays as an 1L bottle is going to last me for at least 3 years if I lube every 500 kms. Also I use kerosene to clean my chain and its going very well for 6000+ Kms so far.

Just an update - I was able to fix this by introducing rubber washers in the screws that hold the front number plate. So now its just the wind noise at high speeds and feels greatOriginally posted by rakeshchn View PostHey guys, long silence in the thread. What are you guys up to? Hopefully enjoying your steeds. I have a quick question - Anyone noticed a feeble hissing kind of noise from left side of handle bar near mirror or switchgear area when riding on speeds above 65 Kmph? I have observed this from very beginning. Its not a big issue and you have to listen carefully to hear it because of the wind noise. But in the otherwise smooth and vibe free high speed riding experience it kinda sticks out.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi Everyone, I notice a strange thing today in my Apache 160 4V.
The Fuel indicator dropped directly from Third Block to First Block. Has it happened with anyone else?
What may be the reason???
