Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I drive in city and I am getting mileage between 45-47 after 2nd serviceOriginally posted by Aswinlogi View PostHi all, I have did a mileage check by empty tank- tank method .
I emptied the fuel tank and filled a 6L of SPEED PETROL from BPCL ,then riding continuously till the tank is empty again.
The initial trip meter 1 was at 616 Kms and after the ride (consuming 6L) it was about 875 Kms .!!!

RIDE WAS FULLY IN HIGHWAYS WITH SPEEDS OF 70-100 km/ph.
*I mostly maintained 65-80 throughout the ride and some stretch of 50 Kms were at 90- 100's too.
*At 5k RPM it does around 65-75 easily without any stress.
So the accurate mileage figure is :
Distance covered
Trip 1 reading : 875-615 km
Total Kms. : 260 kms
MILEAGE. : "43" (260/6).

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Even I am experiencing the same problem. I bought the carburettor dual disc variant one-month ago and the bike has covered a total distance of 378 kms only. This problem has been occuring since day one. My bike does not start every morning no matter how many kicks I apply. Even after applying choke it doesn't start. Self start also doesn't work in the morning. It only starts when I close the choke and kick start it while taking the throttle at the same time.Originally posted by rakeshchn View PostI have started riding my RTR 1604V and done around 150 Kms so far. Strictly following the running in info in manual, so max speed is less than 55KMPH and max RPM is 4500. Bike can cruise at 50 KMPH in 4K RPM. Engine is smooth in this range and gear box is slick and easy to shift. Since I have been riding a heel and toe shifter with all up pattern, still getting used to the toe shifter and 1 down 4 up pattern. But no big issues, thanks to the smooth gear box.
I have couple of questions to other owners
Bike needs a bit of throttle to start using push button or kick-start, even when its a warm start at any time of the day. Manual says you should start with throttle closed or a small amount of throttle. So not an issue, but in my experience with other two wheelers we dont need throttle open to start. whats your experience?
Idle RPM for the bike in cold or warm start condition is 1100-1200. But after riding for 10 mins or more and then idling its 1500-1700. I dont see a reason why it should increase with engine temperature and never see this with other two wheelers. Is it the same for you?
I reported this issue to the service centre guys and they also couldn't figure out what was the issue. They asked me if I had been using throttle when starting the bike with choke on. I said NO. Then they gave me a technical explanation about the same which nonetheless was Greek to me.
Anyways this problem persisted and I took the bike for servicing as was scheduled earlier. After it was serviced those guys told me that they have changed something called TIC in the bike that is responsible for flow of current. Anyways the issue still persisted.
This time I left the bike in the service centre for the night and next morning I asked the service centre guys to start the bike. Even they couldn't start it without taking throttle. The issue was clearly evident to them too. They said it's normal and you have to take a little throttle even with the choke on!!! This time they said that they have changed the carburettor of the bike.
I don't understand why are they giving contradictory advice now. Maybe they don't know what the fault is or maybe they are just ignoring it. I am totally a new biker and thus I really don't know if this starting problem with my bike is even an issue or not. If this is normal with bikes or if this is a defect.
I would be genuinely grateful if someone can advice me in this regard.

Increase idle rpm , put choke , self start with little throttle and it should start easily.Originally posted by Akshaymishra94 View PostEven I am experiencing the same problem. Thank you for the advice.Originally posted by #bpk View PostIncrease idle rpm , put choke , self start with little throttle and it should start easily.
But what I really want to know if this starting problem with my bike is really a problem or not ??
Is this happening with my bike only or if this is a normal thing that happens with new bikes??
Thank you.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Hi, my bike is currently waiting for registration in the show room, and it's set to be registered on Wednesday. Previously when my dad paid the amount two days back the odo reading was only 3kms which is fine.. Yesterday I visited the show room to collect my invoice, and I asked Where's my bike to check the engine and chassis numbers. They showed my bike, and which I noticed the engine was hot when I touched it. I checked the odo and noticed it was 11. 6kms. I'm like WTF? The bike is been registered on my name and am awaiting delivery, how the f*** they are supposed to use it? I've told them harsh not to use my bike anymore and asked to keep the keys away from stupids. Please advice.

So I have completed a week with my Apache 160 4V..Originally posted by anmol163 View PostHi Everyone.

Completed a total of around 330km till now (City+Highway).
Was surprised to see it gave me a mileage of around 40+ before the first service itself. Clocked 194km with 7 liter of petrol (including 2.5 reserve capacity), before getting into reserve. As my first service is still due, i have been riding it around 50-60 kmph. Accidentally touched 71 once as i went with the flow a bit.
Can someone confirm please if their reserve fuel warning indicator worked or not, as it did not blink in my case.
Cheers

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
No Bluetooth options are available other than NTorq .Originally posted by hariharan618 View PostCan someone explain this ?
I'm still worried whether to go with the FI / Carb , as people are giving mixed opinions about service as well as reliability on FI.
Please tag / Please advise if there are any FI owners here.
