  • Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience

    Hello everyone.

I am experiencing some sound coming from the front portion of my bike. While holding the handle when I push my bike and apply front brake slowly I hear some noise coming from the front portion of my bike before it stops. But no noise occurs if I press the front brake suddenly.

I don't know if it's coming from the front disk brake or the front suspension.

Can anyone please advise me on this ?

How is motul C1 chain clean and c2 chain lube? Or any other you all would recommend for chain cleaning. Do let me know
      Regarding this topic :

This is always a controversy one I hope so!!

There are many cleaner sprays available in the market but one thing is that they're all from the petroleum base . So it's easy to clean the chain with petrol/diesel/kerosene !

But some market chain sprays can deteriorate the chain life !!

Just Lubing the chain every 500 Kms will be fine. Just use a 90 gear oil to see a magic. If you can't clean chain yourself just give it to the local mechanic.

      Cheers.

        Hi folks,

Just rode 300 Kms and got stucked by heavy rain !!

Literally enjoyed the ride and the tyres were pretty good on watery roads. I do notice that right rear indicator bulb isn't working .

Should I change the bulb or to check the wiring?

          What kinda noise?

          Disc screeching? Elaborate it.

I observed closely and I found it coming from the front disc brakes. So probably it's disc screeching as you said.

It's a common behaviour in bikes ,you can ask for pressure wash of brakes.sometimes this helps .But it's a temporary one only.

It's a regular charge but chain Lubing cost seems high..

Alright. I will ask the SVC people to do it in my bike's 3rd servicing. Thanks for the advice.

I am facing some issues with my 2 months old Apache 160 4v ABS carburetor version dual disk.
I got its first service done on 550 kms and till now It has ran 1820 kms.
After the first service, I started facing some issues like:
1 - Bike's engine or chain making loud noise as soon as the bike reaches 40km/h speed.
2 - The front disc brake makes noise as if something is rubbing with the disc brakes. It makes the noise even when I rotate the front wheel manually with my hands by keeping the bike on main (double) stand
3 - I feel somewhere somehow the pickup is low as opposed to the reviews all over the internet and youtube videos. My bike can reach 0-60 in 10-12 seconds.

Note: I have contacted the service center from where I bought the bike regarding the disc brake noise issue, but they always tell me that its due to dust being stuck within brakes. While I keep it clean as much as I can always, daily. They are not doing anything regarding the issue of disc brake.
Regarding the noise, they say its coz of too much heat in summers that the bike gets heated up. But now its monsoon and still the problem stays.

Please guide me as what could be the cause of these things and how these things could be taken care of? How to resolve such things?

                          Hey guys,

3rd service for my Apache 160 4v is coming up. Can anyone let me know what all will be done as part of 3rd service just to make sure they are all done by SVC. I guess engine oil will be changed. Let me know your feedback.

Get the Engine oil changed, filters replaced, liquids topped up (if any). Get your chain tightened and lubed with a good foam wash. Get the panels tightened, check for proper air pressure in the tyres and you're good to go

After 5K RPM engine has a grunt and power output starts peaking and noise disappears. This engine inherently lacks good bottom end torque, its mid-range is strong and top end is good.

Hey, yes the issue was resolved completely by replacing the silencer and it was done under warranty. During the 4th regular service I mentioned the problem and they were quick to identify cause and fix it. So was pretty satisfied with the experience.
