    Hi all..
    I have purchased Apache 160 4V bs6 1 month ago..
iam into a habbit of self service as i do it for my honda twister.. which is 10 yrs old.. 57000kms..
becas of lockdown i was not able to get 1st service.. so i somehow got motul 7100 10w40 and replaced the oil.. but i didnt replaced oil filter as i didnt get it.. will replace the filter after lockdown.
have i done the correct thing by replacing oil? it was 800kms on odo when i changed oil.
in my old honda twister i do everything myself.. changed its clutchplates by myself.. carb cleaning etc..
but in this new bs6 bike everything is computerised.. how do i troubleshoot here..
and when i turn on the key the engine light is continusly on.. after i start the bike.. engine light turns off... is this normal?
also abs light blinks on and off when i brake.. is this normal?
showroom didnt giv me owners manual... told u will get online... but online its not there for bs6.. plz help.

      1) you must have changed the oil filter along with the oil change. Make sure you change that when you get the part and top up the oil.

      2) you cannot troubleshoot the injectors as they are managed by electronics. You need not worry about that. If want something to be checked, get back to TVS.

      3) Engine Light is not an issue when it turns off automatically after the engine is started. You shouldn’t get that light up when engine is on. If you get that so then something is wrong.

      4) ABS light will blink until you reach some speed. As the sensor need some threshold speed to turn On the system.

      5) please get the owners manual from them. Else mail to TVS.

Hmmm.. will change oil filter once the service center is opened..
Also i got hp ep90 gear oil for chain and liqui moly mos2.. will use it after 1500 kms.. so that i can sence the difference if any.
Right now on motul 7100 10w40..engine noise & vibrations hav reduced a bit. bike is running smooth..
though at night time the high beam of led is not as far reaching as it was in my twister.. will try to adjust it if there is a screw underneath it like halogens.
i have been using hp power petrol.. hope its good to go with bs6 bikes..

Here to learn more abt the bike... becas i think diy is better than asc... asc shud be for critical jobs. Many a times i hav seen asc guys ruining bikes.. hav happened to me on my twister... used to get milage of 80..well maintained.. and serviced at asc... once the asc ruined the milage to 45...i think they might hav damaged my block piston by some stupidity... since then i do not trust asc guys much.. go to road side mechanic or get the courage and do the thing myself..

gonna buy taparia 1/2" socket set for the same after the lockdown.. what else tools are needed in this bike.. please let me know.. becas in toolkit they gave me one screwdriver and one 11 12 spanner thats it.. no spark plug removal tool or suspension adjustment tool.

Iam also thinking of upgrading to iridium spark plug.

You can download the 160 4V FI's owners manual here. BS6 and BS4 manual are almost the same, and there isn't a huge difference, if any there are only in the exhaust cat con. Yes, the engine light will light up when you turn on the ignition and turn off after you start the engine, that's normal. ABS light should also turn off once you start moving, if it's flickering or staying on above 10 KMPH, your ABS is faulty, that has to be checked. But, if the ABS is turning off normally, once you are moving then it's normal. Troubleshooting isn't a big deal, you can change your engine oil, clutch plates everything as you would normally do earlier, if you are technically inclined to do so. If you have any fault codes registered or any other lights continuously blinking when the bike is moving, you have to get it checked/cleared at the SVC.

          Cheers!

Bro you jump right away from mineral to fully synthetic oil...i m worried about your engine breaking time bro...pls go for reguler oil atleast early 2k-5k after that for for semisynthetic like motul 5100 and after that go for fully synthetic oil...I advise you to remove your oil and use tvs recommended oil for free service to avoid any warranty related issue also...other brand oil usage also void your bike warranty...dont do hurry for best for everything...do it gradually..believe me it ll help you for long run...tc

it uses full synthetic tvs tru4 synthetic oil.. so i dont think i hav done any mistake.
I have also added mos2 additive.. will prevent wear n tear in cold starts.
Hav cleaned n lubed chain every 600kms with hp gear oil 90sae.
                bike is running smooth..
have done 1300 on odo.. 1st service still pending due to lockdown..

Your first 1000km is not for running smooth time bro...let your engine part get together give them time to adjust with each other...if u remove required friction from them poring full synthetic oil...it ll not help to engine break properly...don’t believe me...but ask other bikers they ll tell u same thing...to put everything best is not always correct...there is a correct time to do it...hope u understand...tc

Hello guys, I am new biker and was looking to buy this beauty. I had a few questions:
                      1. How is the pillion rider comfort?
                      2. What is the mileage I can expect riding mostly on city roads?
                      3. Why should I buy this over the other bikes in this segment? What other bikes should I consider, if at all?

                      Thanks a lot!

Pillion comfort is good, nothing to complain about there.

Mileage I was getting in city was 41-46. That will also differ with your riding style.

There is no competition to this bike in it's segment in my humble opinion.

ps I don't own one, a friend does. But I have done ~3500 kms myself on this motorcycle and it's a beautiful machine indeed. Especially the handling and riding dynamics are impressive.

Look carefully, it's the service reminder icon. If still unsure, share a picture.

This light if working is the engine immobilizer. Even the earlier BS4 versions had it I guess - could be a dummy light too (feature not yet provided). Your Owner's manual will have a page describing the light's function.

Edit: Most of the Youtube videos I see this light doesn't come on during selfcheck. Mostly a dummy.
