Drain the oil. Fill a mineral oil (available for Rs.300) also change the oil filter. Change to whatever oil you want after 1000 kms with this oil. Ride in low gear. Maintain 4-5k rpm; neither go high nor below. Then take the bike to the highways and maintain 80 kmph. Accelerate gradually to 100 kmph and come back to 70-80 kmph. Do this for 2 weeks. If you feel you're stressing the bike too much, then come down a bit.

If oil change is due in the 2nd service, try this after the 2nd service.
    Thanks, bro [emoji120]

Remember to measure the volume of the drained oil and see if it has any metal particles.

The drain interval is 6 months or 6000 kms whichever is earlier (oil change in alternate services). My monthly usage is about 500 kms. Done 900 kms so far. No issues. As I've not tried any other oil I can't comment much.

Rtr is really smooth, no matter which oil you pour rtr will be smooth only. I also like that tvs is the only manufacturer which recommends fully synthetic oil from the starting.

BTW RTR is not much smoother !!

*Older RTRs had very bad vibrations even at speeds from 60 kmph hence the history was ruled by pulsars and they stood out in sales for almost a decade !!

*But the year 2018 is really a miracle to TVS !!!

*Just in around span of 6 months the TVS RTR 160 4V & Ntorq has crossed the 1LAKH Sales mark [emoji41][emoji56][emoji1360].

Note: (Apache Crossed 1Lakh sales last month and Ntorq crossed that figure yesterday I hope )

The engine refinement & smoothness are top notch and can't be expressed in words !!

                Cheers,
                Ride safe .

In short, rtr is a brilliant motorcycle [emoji106]
                    Is hornet air cooled?

Yes, it's aircooled , when temperature reaches above 30 degrees, the engine becomes harsh, at low ambient temperature of 25 to 28 degrees engine feels ok. But this may be due to the fact that my bike is in run in period ,let's see after 3000 kilometres [emoji54]

Oh why didn't you not consider buying the Apache 4v ?

I too was fixed in Hornet before a month and after a couple of test drives , I zeroed in on Apache4v the beast !

No controversial interactions , however all are good it's up to how we handle and maintain ,I hope .

*As in your case , you'd finished your run-in already man !!!

*Just pull on the throttle for few secs and check her performance !!!

Short speed runs are good to engine (to breathe) and it won't cause you probs .

**My odo is under 50 kms, so I should wait more time !!! [emoji57][emoji40][emoji5]

Hey guys. A quick update. Completed 200 KM's today. Got bike on 10th of this month. Went on a little highway ride. Kept varying the speed though. When I took delivery of bike, the high speed was 77 kmph. So I thought to try 80 kmph for a moment. So while returning, I slowly reached 80 kmph and then slowly decreased the speed. I guess that is fine. There was little buzz on handle bars but no vibes on tank or foot pegs.
And calculated the mileage too. I know it's too early and I shouldn'tdo that. But hey... That's what I did.
So, I changed the fuel tank on delivery day at there were scratches on original tank. After tank change, they poured approx 1 liter petrol. I filled up 4.8 liters petrol from shell petrol pump. That sums up to 5.8 petrol. As the petrol poured in service centre was approximate, i consider it as 6 liters or petrol. We have 2.5 liters as reserve. So usable petrol was 3.5 liters approx. I did 167 kms before hitting reserve. So 167/3.5 gives 47.7 KM's.
That's great mileage. I know it's very approximate but just wanted to share.
Now will again share when I hit reserve again. After hitting reserve, I set trip 1 at 0.0 and filled 5 liters of petrol. Let's see.

Does anyone has the cold start issues?

I tried to do a choke start but when I cranked up the electric start , the machine failed to start ! ( Tried few kicks no use)

*Meanwhile I started the bike .after 3 attempts.
                                * There's no problem in the engine idling though (it was 1.1-1.4K RPMs).

*Again I tried choke start while the engine is on ,but ended up !!

LET ANYONE CLEAR ME THIS :

I feel the kick start little tougher and while engaging the clutch also ,kick start is hard enough !

*At 4th turn ,engine cranked finally up and was steady running !
                                (Seems cold start ) .

HOW TO AVOID THESE !!! COLD STARTS ?

Any remedies / suggestions are welcomed .

                                Thanks,
                                Logi.
