    233.5 / 5 = 46.7 KM's.
So, it returned 46 km mileage, which is great in my view.
I am yet to do first service. I have completed 405 KM's till now.
That's an impressive fuel efficiency you have got....I have completed 1900+ Kms and I get approx 35 to 37 max.

I check the fuel efficiency by reserve to reserve. I decide the bike has to be put on reserve when the bike drags. I'm not sure why there is a reserve indication on console because it doesn't pop when bike goes into reserve.

How do you guy check the fuel efficiency?

And regarding the self start issues in the previous post..I don't come across this problems these days. In traffic to start in gear I release the clutch a little then the self start works.

      .

I check by Reserve to Reserve method. I trust reserve knob more than the blinker light.

        You've been getting only 37 it's very less for a 160cc motor man !

At what speeds you ride generally?

#Check the engine idling is normal ,if beyond 2K RPM, then reduce it by screwing the carb !
The idling should be 1.3-1.5K only!
I HOPE MILEAGE CHECKING PROCESS INVOLVES DIFFERENT METHODS AND CRITERIA INVOLVED!!

=>One simple way ,try this if possible:

Just empty the fuel tank ! , Then fill 1L of petrol into the tank. Just roam around the city / wherever it be(remember you're riding in reserve fuel MUST CARRY A 1 OR 2 LITRES OF PETROL in your backpack!)
*Ride till your bike quenches the last drop of the 1L and check the total distance covered! (Reset the TRIP meter at first)

PS: You can even check the mileage by filling 500ml also!!

        RUMOUR:
I too've been witnessed that many are saying, you're gonna ruining your carb /FI bla bla !!
*Nothing like that just its a simplest method of checking mileage!

ALTERNATIVE WAY: You can probably Check by the FUEL ON method too,
Just empty the tank as mentioned earlier.
Fill exactly 3.5 L of PETROL (as 2.5 L gets accommodated to Reserve ) then just with the FUEL ON ride around till the bike jerks off and note the KMS!!!

The noted value is the exact mileage of your bike .
        Hope this helps!!

Since I'm in running-in period I haven't checked any of these methods yet!

        Cheers,
        Ride safe[emoji1360]

          Is it worthy ?

Remaining all are same , I've found a YouTuber posting videos mostly on Apache 200 and they are pretty good !

They may look similar but is the primary reduction ratio the same, i.e., the number of teeth on the primary gear and no. of teeth on clutch?

          For 200 4v, it is 2.818.

For 160 4v, it should be mentioned in the last few pages of the owner's manual. If this is same and the diameter of the clutch basket/gear the same, the swap can be done.

Can you/others post the last pages of the manual if possible, the specs page, TIA.

IDK whether the ratios are same , but the clutch box and the diameter are the same !!

I'd be interested to know more about this. Anyone here have opened up their 160 4V's clutch pack The RTR 200 has 6 clutch plate and 5 pressure plate, the 160 4V has 5C and 4P plates same as the old gen?

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

          THE END

It is too early as many are still discussing mileage, overheating during running-in and woes with free services. I hope an aggressive one burns his clutch ASAP and finds out :-).

Hi.. I bought my Apache 160 4V a week back and covered just 175km.
At what speed do you guys shift gears. At 15kmph if I am in 2nd gear then the rpm is high. The bike is smooth in 3rd gear at 15kmph. I owned a unicorn before and I could shift to 3rd gear at speed above 20kmph. Is this normal?

Forget the speeds. You've got a tacho. Stay within 3-5k rpm. Neither go less nor more. If you are decelerating and the rpm goes below 3k rpm, downshift. Upshift preferably at 4-4.5k rpm. Don't ride with half-clutch. That's it.

                  If you want speeds, then 1st till 15, 2nd till 25, 3rd till 35, 4th till 45 approx.

At what speed do you generally shift to 5th?
Just wanted to confirm that all engines for this model are tuned the same.

                      I have a 200 4v, not a 160 4v. The gearing is a bit taller in the 200 4v.

                      Shifting to 5th at
                      40 kmph – lazy riding
                      50 kmph – normal riding
                      60 kmph – aggressive riding

As the 160 4v has shorter gears, take away 5 kmph from these numbers.

Ya makes sense. And I see my gear shift pattern similar to what you mentioned. I am waiting for the first service so that I can test the power and performance

Generally 160 4v has much shorter gears (especially First two) i.e those gears will be reaching the redline soon !
Compared to any other bikes in this category!

But I've checked the possible speeds the engine can do without stalling are as follows:
                          GEARS -MINIMUM SPEEDS
                          1st -6km (@engine idling)
                          2nd-10km
                          3rd -13km
                          4th -19km
                          5th -24km~(not sure)

I've checked and found these figures yesterday.
*Coming to your issue, I hope riding at 15km/ph is good by second gear .

I too faced your issue which lasted for few days ,Let me sum it up !
While the bike has been started the idling RPM should be around 1.5K RPM only and shouldn't exceed this figure!
Meanwhile riding steadily the idling RPM slightly increases to 2K or 3K RPM eventually!

PS: Don't worry it will be alright,I'd suggest you to take the beast for a short trip around 100Kms and it's good !
Because of riding as usual within the city/town in the crowded traffic won't give either the engine to breathe much or you to understand better.
Just keep the speeds below 50/60 , until 500Kms !!
*I'd say the bike is good and feels better as I went for a trip up and down around 200 KMS and now I hope ,am better attached with the machine.

                          Cheers,
                          Ride safe .

Well, I don't see what speed or rpm I am while shifting gears. I go by feel. Sometimes I shift to 5th gear at 35 kmph and sometimes at 40. I make sure there is no knocking or lugging of engine.

I am planning to buy 160 4v but the FI variant. It seems though, there is some availability issue with the FI variant. Most of the dealers in Kolkata are not able to deliver the FI variant, as per them the supply of FI variant from TVS is almost nill.

If anyone here has experienced the same thing, please share. Also, if anyone here have a FI one please share your buying experience.

Yeah I 've probably stalled bike many times in second gear !!!

The beast is good to ride on speeds above 12km/ph at second gear ,orelse it will stall !
