Thanks. Good to know that, i came to my hometown in march end, but not sure when i go back. Earlier plan was to go back by June end, but not sure in these times. I would have rode it to hometown if it was less than 700kms, but its almost 1700kms. Btw my old unicorn also still had battery charge left after 6 and half months later last time. I kicked the engine stater a few times, then tried with self starter 4-5 times and it started. Int650 being an FI bike, i think it should start without much fuss, if battery has some charge left.

    Hey Kanahanin,

Thanks for your response. This reply definitely helps as we are moving towards a worse situation and travelling does seem like the worst option.

I was also evaluating using packer mover or transport by train. But if 6 months is doable, i would want to take that chance.

    Cheers!

Unlike old Carb engines and BS3 fuel standards, Modern Fi engines and new BS6 fuel can be good with even kept with upto 3-6months of old shelf life, the fuel would be fine without losing its properties, so draining fuel should not be needed.
For battery, you can take a call, get it refilled with distilled water(if needed) and charged up once you are back.

I wouldn't recommended over handing keys to RE guys or someone unsupervised on my behalf without your absence. If you know trustworthy rider friend who can take your bike keep it, start it up and ride it around for 2kms once every 2 days at his place then that I'd recommend.
Thanks dude! I am so relieved to learn that interceptor should be good for upto 3 months. Its barely six months old, and i really dont want rusting to pace up before it needs to. Battery i still feel can be replaced worst case, but good to know internals dont get damaged by the latest fuels.
Nevertheless i also understand these are unprecedented times, the last thing i want to do is to travel just for the sake of my bike and probably add in to the menace.

    Stay safe man!

Would also love to hear from others what their experiences have been from leaving an interceptor for like 3 months

I still haven't received mine, since booking 2 months ago. Yesterday I called up the showroom and inquired; Apparently RE will only release the 2121 model to the showrooms in at start of a new financial quarter, which is today. Hoping for some good news soon.

Oh, and since I was back in Bangalore for a month, I decided to get a motorcycle and go for a small ride with my friend, who owns an interceptor. the GT I got was a BS4, and my friend has a BS6. And the difference in the feel of both engines are quite apparent. The BS6 felt smoother, but seems to have lost the mechanical feel and sound of the BS4.

What i didn't do is call Royal Enfield for disconnecting battery n draining fuel. The user manual says we should contact RE if leaving the motorcycle idle for more than a month.

What should i do now? Should i send the keys to the showroom and ask them to do these now? Or, send it to the security gaurd and ask him to start it up once a while (he's trustworthy). My problem with the latter is that i will ask him not to ride it, so starting up should keep the engine ok, but not all moving parts.

I should plan going back in any case, i miss my bike. Please advise.

Waiting for Baker Express/Ravishing Red to come on display in showroom as really like its blackened spokes/Rim. I may change my color option post that. I was told by dealer that custom colors now have time till April!

    Likes:
    1. Fantastic engine - The engine is a gem! It's super smooth and brings instant smile on my face.. πŸ˜ƒ Vibrations are there in high revs but you don't really feel it unless you want to notice.
    2. Power and torque - Many argue that the motorcycle is underpowered for a 650 engine. But I think for the Indian road conditions, it has adequate power & torque. It effortlessly pulls all day long without showing any signs of stress.
    3. Clutch & gearbox - I have a classic 500 too and ridden many other RE bikes. Always found the gearbox to be clunky and clutch to be hard on RE bikes. But this one is an exception! The clutch is very light. Gearbox is smooth & precise, hardly faced any false gear issues.
    4. Breaks - Breaking is good. It has good bite for sure and gives confidence to ride fast (at acceptable speed limits).
    5. Fuel Efficient - I get around 22 km/ltr in Bangalore city and over 25 km/ltr when riding on highways. I have heard people claiming even higher average at 28-30 km/ltr. Happy with the average for such a good performing bike.
    6. Looks - I know looks are subjective but I think this motorcycle is a good example of minimalist beauty! This is a retro classic and the fact that everything is so simple, makes it a great choice for customisation.
    7. Price & maintenance - Last but not the least. In fact I never thought I will own a twin engine motorcycle. But when I saw the pricing, I couldn't resist as it was not only within my budget but I also knew that maintaining it won't be hard on my pocket.

    Dislikes:
    1. Seating - The stock seat is very soft and narrow. I bought the Continental GT touring seat. While it's much better in terms of cushioning, it is still narrow and I don't feel comfortable after riding it for a while. There are few broader aftermarket seats available but they spoil the look totally. The one's with better looks aren't waterproof. So my search for perfect seat continues. When I sit on my classic 500 after riding Interceptor, my buttocks feel so happy..πŸ˜‚
    2. Front suspension - It's too soft! Doesn't give me any confidence while cornering and horrible on bad roads. So I recently installed a pre-load adjuster and it made a great difference. Now the front feels a lot more planted and doesn't hit the bottom on bad roads. Haven't tried the bike on highways yet. But from my experience so far, it definitely was a good investment.
    3. Fuel gauge indicator - It's a shame RE couldn't fix the fuel indicator issue till date. Not even once it showed correct data. It's so inconvenient, I need to keep calculating the km I ride everytime.
    4. Headlight - The stock bulb is of low quality. I like to ride at nights but the throw and brightness of stock bulb is below average. We need to upgrade to Osram or Philips bulbs or get a LED headlight.
    5. Very uncomfortable for pillion riders.

    Functional mods on my bike:
    1. Installed Indimotard handlebar risers for more comfortable handlebar position
    2. Mad Dog FR70 LED headlight + MADDOG Scout Auxiliary Lights + SIMTAC Hazard Flasher with LED bulbs for better night visibility
    3. Bobo Jaw-Grip Mobile Holder with USB 3.0 Charger
    4. Marsh Autotech pre-load adjusters for better ride quality and no more bottom out on bad roads
    5. RE GT Touring Seat - a lot better than stock seat but still uncomfortable for me
    6. RE Compact Engine Guard to protect the engine from damage in case of a fall
    7. RE Sumpguard to protec oil filter and the engine/lower frame
    8. RE Fork Gaiter to protect front suspension

Additionally installed RE Tall Flyscreen but it's more of a cosmetic mod for the looks. It doesn't protect from the wind blast..

Planning to add a backrest, get touring mirrors and alloys (whenever RE officially releases them for twins) in future. Very much tempted to add PoweRage Exhaust with DNA filters & stage 2 kit but worried about cops and fines..

Overall I'm very happy with the motorcycle and proud to be part of RE family...πŸ™‚πŸ‘
Please share pics of all your additional mods done.

    Need suggestions on tank bags.

I am looking at something that only serves the purpose of a tank bag and not a tail/tank bag combo. I've already got a top box installed at the rear. Budget within 4k. Looked at Rynox Magnapod but it's out of stock on their site

I haven't done much on the headlamp but been running with Maddog scout x for bout an year. Got the set for 6k and feel it's money well spent.

Also run a Novatronix hazard system with led bulbs which I got for about 2k and their AHO system for 1.2k

The AHO is actually a life saver coz it doesn't put unnecessary load on the batteries and also delivers a longer life for the lamp
Let me know if you stumble on any suggestions for the footpegs.. been looking for a cost effective solution for long

As per my exp, once you pay road tax, cops dont bother, even if they check the papers, but it will cost quite a lot once, but its upto you. I thought fork gaiter was statndard now. I checked the touring mirrors and they felt quite small too. Also almost all the RE mirrors will get spots like cheap mirrors do like the mirror paint has chipped off in a year or 2.. So mostly will get some cheap japanese bike mirrors, like intruder 150cc or cb 350s, when i get around to their showroom and if find them asthetically good. I would say get the large engine gaurd too. Its a heavy bike and quite forgiving, but a drop at a bit high speed, will be dengeraous to legs without engine gaurd apart from saving bikes parts to an extent.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. To get the road tax after an year. I came back to Bangalore for one month, and every night, I saw bikes stopped by cops, on multiple places. And my Kannada isn't still good enough Also, RE showroom I booked from in Kochi, are now saying they can deliver it only at the end of March, instead of the previously agreed date(End of February). Hope they don't do this crap again!
