Re: Rattling noise from the exhaust after rides

    [MENTION=106745]Chakrapani[/MENTION]

I saw you mentioning handlebar risers in an earlier post - out of curiosity, which ones have you gone for? And has it altered the balance/handling of the bike in any way?

two days into my ownership, i was sure that I needed them. But as of now, my body seems to have adjusted to the stock setup. There is the caveat, however, that I haven't really done any significant distance at a stretch.

I'd like to know more about your experience. Browsed around for the available options and hit upon lluvia, HDT customs and ADV tribe. ADV tribe seems to be of decent build quality but this is entirely guesswork based on branding, website, youtube reviews etc.

What I was told then was that the hot parts of the bike that is the silencer pipes etc which would have undergone thermal expansion are contracting back to their normal size. I accepted the explanation. By the way I have observed this sound in my Honda Dio as well.

The clicking sound is more pronounced in the interceptor especially after a long ride. Hope this helps.

That's very reassuring. Thanks!I guess I've had it with the obsessing over details and worrying about scratches etc :P About time to stop and enjoy motorcycling Somehow found myself getting very OCD when it comes to this bike

Any other interceptor owners who have the same?

Secondly about the noise...If it is an incessant noise like " tik tik tik tik.." which subsides after some time maybe after 30 mins...Then what the svc centre guys say is correct. I find a similar noise in my classic 500 as well.

If it is any other mechanical rattle like a bolt loose etc...Plz have it checked.

    Hope this helps.

It does this after every ride, irrespective of whether it's a long one or a 5 minute sprint.

I was told by the service centre that it's the catalytic converter "cooling down" and that it's "totally normal". My problem is that I seem to think it started only after I got it serviced. It wasn't there (or maybe I didn't notice it) for the first 530 odd kms.

I'll be honest, I'm just a tiny bit worried about this and would love to get a neutral opinion from you guys. At the risk of sounding paranoid, I'm not able to take the service centre at their word 100%, although it's likely nothing to worry about.

    Cheers guys!

Just placed an order for it. Thank you for helping out. Any other maintenance tips to make sure it works as expected for the INT650?
Thanks for taking up my suggestion. Once you get your Fego Float you will have to adjust the air in the cushion to suit your self. Keeping it about 25 percent or less inflated gave me the best results. Try it out patiently and go as per the manual and you shall be rewarded with a very comfortable ride.

Happy days for your bums are ahead...[emoji108]

My ability to ride without a break has also gone up from 60 mins to at least three hours. I rode non stop for over four hours over different road surfaces on my last ride before lockdown.

I am not sure about the CGT touring seat. But what I have heard from friends is that it increases your ride time from 60 mins to a maximum of 120 minutes if not lesser.

I am considering changing over to CGT touring seat but that is purely from aesthetics perspective [emoji41]. For a long ride I will still use Fego Float.

Have never experienced anything like this...But have experienced numb bums, burning bums plenty of times though [emoji23][emoji23] thanks to the soft stock seat.

The stock riding position on the Interceptor is slightly forward leaning. The weight of the bike and new riding position tend to make the rider stiffen up the upper body a bit which could lead to fatigue and pain over a long ride. Also the stock grips on the Interceptor are hard and I have faced numbness in the wrist and palms after long rides. Having a pillion (60 kg approx) also places additional strain on your shoulders and upper back. This I have experienced when I have done long rides with the Missus. Hence it is possible that a combination of the above factors may have caused the extreme physical discomfort that you experienced.

But nevertheless, try and keep your upper body loose while riding. Especially the shoulders... Also try the following

    1. Put handlebar risers to improve the riding posture. I have put risers and the overall strain on shoulders reduced dramatically. Fatigue also reduced a great deal.
    2. Put Grip Puppies on your handlebar grips. I am using Trip Machine grip wraps and have found them to be ok.
    3. Make a conscious effort to stretch your shoulders and upper back while riding especially riding two up.

    Hope this helps.

So you did get the NCB transferred to your new policy right? As long as you benefit from this bit of information the purpose is achieved.

In fact there are many such fine print type things that are not common knowledge. I was told of this aspect a senior motoring enthusiast a long time ago. I have benefitted from it. Imagine I transferred 50 percent NCB from my nine year old Wagon R onto my new Ecosport about 5 years ago. That was a sweet moment. So I presume you too will do the same and enlighten someone else down the line.

If the showroom guys don't play ball tell them you will cancel your booking or escalate it to Royal Enfield.

Also, great work on that tank! I can't place it, where is the inspiration from? Looks very classic and sublime. Kudos!
    Thanks for the generous compliments.[emoji120]

I have a thing for racing stripes. Cant remember correctly but I remember having seen something like this on a RD 350 in my childhood.

The other paint schemes on the twins have vertically oriented or sloping stripes. I found the orange tank too large a monochromatic visual mass. Hence a visual relief was warranted..

Had toyed with various widths of stripes, considered yellow colour as well. This is the final configuration that appealed to my sensibilities. The white stripes have a very fine gold bordering as well - much like the handpainted RE pinstripes. The final credit goes to the artist who did the fine stickering job.
