what if one bike is slower than the other?..what that matters is that we're enjoying every bit of riding on our respective steeds...

              • IIRC, there was a shoot-out between R15, P220 FI, Zma and RTR 160fi in BI magazine sometime back. That time, R15 posted the best lap time, P220fi was second best (as far as lap times are concerned) while RTR 160Fi was third (a second or two behind the P220fi....correct me if im wrong)

Today, how come all of a sudden, RTR 180 with more power is 2 seconds slower than P220 ???

I didnt expect it from BI. I was of the opinion that these guys are the most impartial journos around.... this seems to have taken some beating....

I would request the guys at BI to not to follow OD's route.....

Guys from BI who are also active members of xbhp, would you like to explain us something??? (or do you think its not worth explaining.... ?)

Have you guys ridden it up hill extensively to comment?

                  • Rear wheel alignment

Hi guys... last day I changed my chain and sprocket... my ride has run 17k. The chain had elongated so much that there was no more room for adjusting. There was something I noticed before I had the chain changed: The wheel was not properly aligned with the swing arm. On the forward part, the tire was barely 1cm from the side of the swing arm, where as on the other side it was almost 4-5cms. I tried to adjust it on my own, but when the gaps are same, either the lock nut (the nuts used to adjust the chain tightness) on one side was very loose, or else the chain was too tight. So I left is as it is....

Now after the 7th service and replacing chain and sprocket, its still the same scenario. The tire is barely .5cm from the swingarm on the right side and wide gap on the other side.

What could be wrong? The wheel hub? inputs, speculations and suggestions are welcome...

                      Do you think we haven't??..

Anyway,I have ridden both the bikes back-to-back on a recent trip to Tehri Dam(Uttarakhand,if you know). The route is Dehradun-Mussorie-Dhanaulti-Chamba-Tehri.Very beautiful and picturesque roads but equally challenging. You can ask some of our xbhpians who've been there.Because I know you won't believe me..

Coming to the R15,it does feel great around corners but you need to keep the throttle wringing above 6k (Note:Uphill). It runs out of steam very soon and this is annoying. You down-shift;get her back to the powerband;tedious task.It isn't as much fun as it's on the normal roads.Whereas, the RTR if not as good around corners as the R15 is much more involving. It can easily outdo the R15 there.Enough torque and you never feel the machine to be stressed. And that sound is the added bonus!

Trust me on this,The R15 is anyday better than the RTR.It's a great bike but I feel the RTR is more fun around twisties, period!

PS: I am not obsessed with my bike!

                        A classic case, eh...

Seems I will have to ride both Motorcycles back to back to comment, adding to my woes, my friend sold his RTR-180 to buy a Unicorn.
Do timings next time to see which is faster,(if you wish to know, seat of the pants feel is an illusion) a pappu Motorcycle which has no torque or a torquey Motorcycle.

You need not be oh so politically correct.

Good for you and everyone who thinks so, as today I am riding "x" and may graduate to "y" the day after, so being obsessed with my Motorcycle is wrong and being obsessed with Motorcycles is perfectly okay.

                        Happy Riding

                        • He's right you know!

The R15 may most probably be faster for someone who can ride it proper, but when it comes to "pure joy" of riding, a Torque monster is more fun to have around the tight twisties in hills.

Agree with you on the timings part, the R15 might just go out clock a faster "time", but for most people its more about having fun while riding than actually setting a faster time. That being said, between the R15 and RTR the latter would definitely be more "fun" to ride up a hill despite it being slower.

                            Exactly!!

The adrenaline rush, the exhaust note,(vibs, if you may add ) all contribute to a genuine involvement/feel which cannot be matched by R15. Agreed, the R15 is a class apart when it comes to handling and braking but in my books of pure joy the actual 'feel' of acceleration from R15 comes only after 7k rpm whereas the 180 has 'on-demand' power at any rev-range.

                            • Donno much about the RTR180 on the uphills or the "ghat" section but the RTR FI is much happy above 5000 and my fav gears being 2 and 3...

The RTR is more fun to ride no doubt, cuz the kinda noice it makes (esp the FI) while accelerating people tend to look at you and it even sounds like a aftermarket endcan in the "overrun".

The R15 is not as "Rorty" as the RTR, and to top it all i dont visit the tracks even on 5 days outta 365....so on the whole the RTR is the pick for me anyday.
