    • @nisnth Welcome to the tribe

@sambit I too faced a the jerking problems at low rpms. Couple of things I did - cleaned spark plug, used iftex with petrol (couple of times) and cleaned air filter. The problem has more or less vanished

@All How do we measure the engine oil level. I mean do we screw in the dipstick or just dip it. When I checked oil level today (i got two readings: the oil level is up to full mark if I screw the dip stick and check. It is only half when I dip and check.) Now I am thoroughly confused.
It's been around 500km since the last oil change (Motul 300v FS 10w40)

Checked with manual. We need to insert the gauge by threading in. So guess the oil level is upto mark.

      • Hello

        Wsup Fellas !!

Its since 3 months i am riding my RTR and I must say I am still excited and happy the day I brought the bike. My Menace undergone 1st service and its due for the second service. I have following quires and I would appreciate the veteran biker to give me your opinions :

1 I want to know the best engine oil ( Cost no problem and preferably in the Motul brand). Luckly I have motul shop near my area and I can hopefully get the required oil.

2 The shop from where i brought my bike is closed. So in this case can I use the free coupons to get my bike serviced in any other TVS service center ?

Thanks guys and I really appreciate the kind of knowledge you share in the forum.

You can use the Coupons throughout India. Its not specific to one SVC.

I would like the experts to answer the 1st question, since I have the same query ! (2-3 brands preferably)

You can use : Mineral Oil - Castrol Activ 20w40/Elf Moto Gold 20w40/ Motul 3000 20w40

or SS oil - Castrol Power 1 15w40/ Motul 5100

Just make sure you stick to the Xw40 rating for the oil.

Thanks for that SOCIAL. I had two more queries for the day.

              1. What is the ideal IDLING RPM (or whatever it is called, I'm new to this stuff so please bear with me and educate me as well ) for a new bike? Mine hovers around 2K range. Is it ok or should I get it further reduced?

              2. I wanted to raise the headlight angle a bit, since its a bit too low. Would I be able to do it on my own do I need to visit SVC for that?

              Please advise.

An IDLING RPM is what when ur bike is standing still or idle when started, then the RPM niddle in ur tachometre, what it shows is called IDLING. It should be between 1200-1400, thats what a standard idling is all about, if ur raises to 2000 then decrease it and bring it a bit down.

IF u bend down a little u will find a tiny screq below ur mask, loose it and then u can adjust ur headlight alignment as per ur convenience

There are 2 reasons for engine oil getting in combustion chamber:
                    1. Blown valve oil seal
                    2. Damaged piston rings.

As PSR said, If you have run the bike without oil, do check the crankshaft bearings for sure.
Also, find the path of oil and sort the issue. Get ports cleaned and valves lapped. This should be accompanied with valve oil seal change.

As both of you have bikes under warranty, get it done from SVC under warranty. If they are not ready for that, talk to area service manager regarding this."

Bothers nobody is listening for a full diagonosis for the bike and they are keep cramming the same stuff that they will change any part on later stage if they find any.
Even the area service manager is ignoring the issue.
Now i am able to feel the pity situation other guys faces with the SVC.

Decide to write a mail to all the TVS big shots so please kindly help me with all the possible emails id you all have so that they can learn a lesson from this.

                    Thanks for your help guys.

I got the Idling adjusted by the SVC (Dint feel like doing it myself since the bike is new ). Regarding the headlight, I'm unable to find the screw. Please check the pic below. Is that the one you are speaking of?
One more query, the headlight beam seems to throw light at an angle. I noticed that the Halogen fitting is tilted (Pic below). Can you please verify if that's how it should be or does the groove need to be horizontal?
