Last day I shot a mail to TVS top brass... three of the mail ids shared in this thread. Today a TVS representative was present at the SVC. Though he did not approve of my own oil changes and also the installation of the K&N filter, he was kind enough to take up the major expenses (cylinder kit and crank) coming to around 5k under warranty.

Am back on the saddle of my menance..

Hey lijok, congrats brother. How much time did you wait before writing to TVS guys? Hope know everything is ok in your bike.
I guess with this new cylinder kit we have to do the running of 1k kms or there is some other way around?

It's always a long painstaking procedure in claiming vital parts under warranty , no matter which manufacturer it is. That's a sad reality and i hope the manufacturers put more stress on improving the service provided to the customers.

@flyingJian - i waited for 3 weeks, just coz I did not want to piss off the SVC guys, but the delay become unbearable...
After I sent the mail, I took delivery of the bike the second day.

And yes, you are supposed to do a run-in of 1k kms. But I'm going the motoman way now

. Smooth, HARD acceleration and deceleration. Will change oil and oil filter tomorrow.
Why motoman? two reasons...
1. I cant undergo another 1k km of booklet-run-in

. No way!
2. Even if the motoman run in ruins the engine, I have a backup plan - joelling

.
One more thing is, I'm thinking of upgrading soon, atleast within a year. The tourer in me is demanding a faster bike

It is neither a considerably faster machine nor it is a tourer, it has to be the CBR250R/Ninja!!

Well I hv been menacing around with my black beauty since July '10.......presently 12k on ODO.... Went for First Service after 3rd day of purchase at 524 on ODO

... SVC Guy was like "WTF!!!! Bhaiya aap kitna chalate ho??"..... All free services over already

.......last week i went for the last and 5th free service.....

Gone through the whole, near 600 pages (Damn it took me 5hrs to go through all...but still great time pass and a lot of knowledge gained for sure

)

Saw some very uncommon problems which my RTRian brothers are having/hv had with their beauty.... like low mileage (Am using Shell Standard Petrol and always do a full tank, I get like 720kms-723kms with 13.5 lts...which i guess is 53 on a ltr.....and i usually stay in the 80-120 range, thnx to the Modi govt for providing six lane highway like road connecting Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad which r mostly empty

), stiff gears, engine gettin hot, oil leakage/burnout, recommended oil grade...these problems which i nvr had (touch wood

)...... (although i switched to Shell Advanced Ultra FS ....10w40 i suppose.....after my 3rd free service, which sells for some 800 bucks)....except for the tappet noise (which started only after my 4th free service, and i thought it was because of the oil change

)...but tht thing was solved in 5 min by the SVC mech guy.....nothin like the procedures i read here... he just opened some big nut on the engine....put some sticky glue like thing on it and asked me to ride it like i did in its running in period for a week or so

......two days and my engine sounded as gud as a new one

.....i guess i am lucky to find a gud SVC guy here.........

Present status....met with a road accident yesterday.......bloody TVS tyres (Especially if u hv 36PSI

in rear without ur knowledge....it glides like S***

....... tht SVC mech guy is DEAD.... and am taking back the 200 bucks which i gv him as tips for correcting the tappet noise problem)...... well for now bed ridden for a month or so

.......luckily just broke the headlight, front and rear indicators, saree guard and leg guard.....nothin serious

.....given for insurance claim hopefully everything will be replaced with 95% return in claim..... my Menace will be back this monday hopefully

well i guess this is way too long for a first post....so will just shut up right here

Well, I have no idea. (Dont tell me to get idea coz i have idea

) Its just that I need a bike which can do 90-120 mins of non-stop 3 digit 'cruising' ! Guess that narrows the selection a lot?

Dude,I will call this the BARGAIN of the decade.Retailers here in Noida/Delhi make strange faces if you ask them for such bargains.Nobody is selling this lid for anything less than 3.5k..I so badly want to buy one.I would like to know if the retailer there could ship it over here..I can pay even 500 for the courier.Please if you may then please confirm this for us..

It could be the hugger too.It took me some effin days to figure that out.At about 5-6k rpm there's this strange karrrrrrrrrr-karrrrrrrr noise used to come.I thought it's the fairing.But a few days back while washing the bike,I was revving it ideal and somehow found that the hugger vibrates and produces that strange noise! Screwed some bits here and there and now it works wonder..Try this also.

Hey guys i too started gettin tht strange noise....went to meet my trusted SVC mech guy..... he just opened the front fairing....removed the lock-ignition key unit.....greased the small rod tht comes out of tht lock-ignition unit, whn in lock position (it has a small hole from where grease could b filled in,,,,,make sure the rod is out i.e, lock position whn greasin)........ and tht sound was vanished....

....may b this cud solve the problem in some cases.... the mech told me this was common with most of the menaces (his genral mentality told him tht people tend to shake the handle bar when in lock position and this tends to loosen tht rod and hence the vibs sound)

Just been back home after having some taste of the tarmac!

First crash with my bike,feels awful,and a bit painful too.Right side is completely ruined.

Thanks to some gentleman who had wisely spilled two teaspoons of oil on the road.

Thanks to the worthy tvs rubber which has always scared me,but this time it did prove that it's not-all-slide-and-no crash!!

And thanks to my luck,that some car-waalah didn't run over me! It was one helluva of a accident!

More info in a while,have to clean and bandage the bruises..
