  • I have read lot of posts here in this ownership forum where ppl prefer to use their own choice of Engine oil rather than using the stock TVS oil.

I have one doubt on this; The manual states that during the free service, the SVC guys are supposed to:
    • Drain the Engine Oil
    • Replace the Oil Filter
    • Change the engine oil

Now, if I get my own engine oil and prefer not to go with the stock version, the SVC ppl won't do any of the above. That means, I would have to get the oil filter changed through a local mech. How safe is that? Also, by instructing the SVC guys not to do an oil change, what are the possible things they may skip?

It may sound like a novice query, but it'll surely help clear a lot of my apprehensions about oil change...

Bro, its better you buy your oil and take it to SVC and ask them to change it for you along with the filter during regular services. when I had problems, the TVS company representative who came there said you can do that provided you use the company specified grade. If the SVC guys give you any bullshit, demand to talk to the manager, or else shoot a complaint to TVS.

also, skipping oil change at SVC can lead to headaches later on if you run into engine trouble and needs it to be done in warranty. The headache will be TVS itself, and not the dealer! For a perfect service record (which is mandatory for warranty claims, well almost) you have to get the SVC do all thats said in the service coupons. (and as that does not specify the brand of engine oil, but only the grade, you can use any of them )

BTW, changing the oil filter is no big deal. Just check the new DIY thread of R15 oil change. Its the same in case of the RTR also. You just need to have the proper tool - a #8 socket tool (either a nut driver or a socket wrench will do).

Hey Thanks buddy, I will get my own Xw40 grade oil during my next service and ask them to change it right in front of me.

Has anyone tried changing the setting of clip-on handle bar to bring them towards the rider? I think mebbe that will allow for a more erect posture while riding. Though the existing setting does look sporty, I think for a long ride, it may put a strain on the back and palms...

It does not if you sit properly - arms bend at elbow, grabbing the tank with your thighs and in general a sportive stand. Believe me, I've rode to b'lore from TVM in 12 hours flat and had on problems...

                    • Looks interesting. Hopefully the pricing will remain competitive. If it exceeds P220 price, then might not gain much traction with the masses.

I like the DC electricals part more And of course TVS could have delivered better tyres. The brakes are already very good

They had to launch it only a month after I got my 180 !!...

Can the ABS component be retrofitted? Is there any official communication on this?
