Great! I'll soon be on a trip, asa the project which I'm in takes off. (and that seems to take eternity. )

BTW, @albyjose and other guys, my bike went to reserve at 57.2 KMs. That makes it 40 KMPL. I have filled it again and is again clocking the FE, just to be sure. I'm yet to measure it on highways. I guess after much ripping and short acceleration I have to be more than satisfied with the figures.

Also I'm filling it from different companies. Is it bound to have any aftereffects?

    • From last week I was having problems shifting gears down, while slowing down from 50-25 kmph it wouldnt just shift down, it would only shift at correct RPMs. Got it checked today and clutch hub was worn out. Bike has clocked 27k KMs. Is it just normal wear and tear ?

I have been getting this lazy throttle feel lately. If I don't squeeze it harder the bike seems to stutter. When at normal and lower speeds the bike seems like it's having a tendency to stall. But it doesn't stall. Engine doesn't sound stressed but feels like it's having Asthma or difficulty in breathing at lower speeds with appropriate gears. I read about running lean and rich and I feel there is something similar to running rich with the symptoms of my bike. I request anyone who knows or have dealt with these issues to give me some insight into the possible reasons and solutions.

        • ^Check the spark plug tip. If white/glazing= lean, wet/dry black= rich. Should be sort of brown in color.

Make sure air filter elements are clean.

A dirty/malfunctioning TPS (Throttle Position Switch/Sensor) will result in engine hiccups while riding (gradual/constant throttle usage) at 2.5-4.0K rpm.

Always try to ride with fuel on mains. If you find a good fuel pump, stick there. Try to re-fuel on early mornings, a time ground temperature would be cold. You will get denser/correct quantity fuel.

It depends on the honesty of the pump owner. I feel shell is the best but is rare. 40kmpl is nice & you can extract a bit more in exhange of performance.

I dont know what you call this but this thing which is fixed on the handles corner (left handle)came of while riding to office now. I tried putting it back in, but the hole in the inside which holds the thread of this long screw/rod has become too big and swallows half the rod, took it out with the help of my bike key
              What do you call this?
And how do I put it back? I mean how to fix the inside part, which has become wide?
Is the inside thing which holds the screw is a cork??

This exactly is the issue I'm facing. A lack of will, if you will , from the bike at these RPMs. So it could be a dirty TPS?

I tried other tricks like to raise the throttle at neutral and releasing it to see where the needle rests and it came to rest on the set RPM. Neither over it nor below. Hence it's got nothing to with Carb settings.

Thank you Rtrlover for pointing it out!

                • After recently changing my front brake pad, the braking has been pathetic. It jams up even on applying a bit of pressure. What should I do to fix the problem? Also, any idea where I can get DOT4 brake fluid in Thane?

Another problem is that the engine overheats after continuous riding for 30-45 minutes. The idle RPM goes upto 3k. Is this because the idling screw (or whatever it is called) is not adjusted properly?

                  • ^The new brake pad might need some time to set in. So wait while using it gradually.

It has got to be with idle speed. Set it at 1400 +/- 100 rpm (1300 will be fine) while engine is warm. Make sure you are using the idle screw and not the a/f mixture, carb drain screw. The idle scew is place upside down with springs on it.

                    @huntphani
I believe there are a couple of nuts and a washer at the end of that rod (inside part). It's so rare the bar end weight (that's the name and is used for dampening handle bar vibrations) just came off. It might have become loose since sometime (free rotation or something). Anyway, see what the SVC says.

Its the "bar end weight". It is used to dampen handle bar vibes. This thing is fastened using washers and nuts on the inside of the handle grip.
I presume you'd vibes in the handle for some time now that led to loosening of this part, but how on earth did it come out? Its supported by a washer assembly to prevent it from falling off. Max, it'd come out loose but not fall off.
Visit the SVC ASAP! Maybe it was badly tightened destroying the thread grooves.

                      • Guys my bike is now run 5200 kms, I was planning Pune to goa trip on it.
I am planning to service the bike now so what should I do to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride?
As for the current conditions of bike the vibrations have increased. The bike sounds rough.
The gears feels slightely hard while shifting.

Brought a chain lubricant-TVS Tru Spray to lubricate the chain.
                        Cost Rs.336.0
Not much difference after riding for about 200kms. only difference is earlier chain was making noise
                        now it is very silent.

Also I am in dilemna on which route from pune to goa should I take, The Boring but faster NH4 through Kolhapur, amboli etc or NH17
which is picturous but slightely longer and slower through varanda ghat, mahad, ratnagiri etc.

Took my bike to SVC and told them about the lack of feel and bogging at 2k-4k rpms and the possible tappet noise. The mech there said the tappet noise is normal as the company oil is very 'fine' and somehow it results in tappet noise when the engine is hot. I didn't get the logic there, but he said the company acknowledged this sound being normal.

When I told him to look at the bogging issue, he adjusted the accelerator cable and took the bike out for a spin. He came back adjusted something else, not the Carb settings or TPS. Then I took it out the bogging issue was not there, at least it wasn't noticeable like before, and that too only around 4k.

He asked me to check the mileage. I told him that I checked the mileage and it's around 40. He said check again with exact amounts, like 1 or 2 ltrs, of petrol. He says the bike might be having a good mileage and the 'company says that's bikes with high mileage has similar issues like my bike. 'The company says' such bikes will bog down a little when at 4k as the throttle control or something like that changes a bit.

Anyways he asked me to measure mileage and if the mileage is not enough or the reading is not satisfying, they will try tuning Carb settings.

Already done about 500 km mate, the brake just locks in on braking. This happened the last time too, a trip to the service center fixed it.

After servicing, the bike is vibrating like anything at high speeds, and whenever i accelerate from 50-60km/hr in 5th gear there is a noise from the front part or engine.I was not able to find out.I had told the mechanic to adjust the tappets, don't know what he has done
