Well, If at all this news is true, i'm really happy, a really big fan of the old design..!! I always have a sweet spot for the Apache in my heart..!

The old model was quite a looker.. TVS lost an opportunity to capture the hearts & market..They should have upgraded the Apache in terms of performance rather than "looks"..
According to a friend of mine ,who is an intern at TVS ..TVS decided the "looks" as an upgrade & changed their minds in the last second & launched the new Apache with only cosmetic changes..
Now TVS got another golden opportunity & I can't see them throwing it away by just re-launching the old Apache rather than a true upgrade..Just wished someone would knock some sense into them..TVS is gonna be left behind if they continue this confused management..

P.S;- Love the old Apache..The new one looks refreshed..
Its been 2 years since some ground breaking stuff from TVS's stable..Hopping for something from TVS..!!

    • Riding from Bangalore to Pune on My Apache RTR 180

      Hi Brothers!

This is my first post on XBHP... .

History: Just to let you all know from where my questions are coming.

I am Manish and while I open this new thread on 24th Feb, 2013.. I am in London.. I am here since March 2012...

I bought my first bike Apache RTR 180 on May 13, 2011... Unfortunately ten months later.. I had to come to UK for work requirement leaving my bike with my little brother in Bangalore... I wanted to send my bike in Train but due to the irritation caused by people in Railways.. I rode my bike from Pune to Bangalore.. starting my ride at 22:30 in the night and reaching Bangalore in 12 hours.. I was stupid not to wear any protective gear and carried heavy luggage.. Though I cherish every moment of that unplanned ride, I still feel I was stupid and it was a big risk!

Now, I will be coming back to Pune on March 04th, 2013.. Only a week away.. I am planning to get my bike back from Bangalore to Pune.. My parents were initially reluctant but now I have managed to convince them saying it really hurts if transport people damage my bike and I am not willing to take that risk.. So, now I have taken leaves and My plan is on to ride my bike to Pune..

      Plan:

Unfortunately I am not able to get more than 2 days leaves and I will be visiting my parents after one long year+ I have to bring my bike to good condition before leaving to Pune.. So, I am very much short of time..

9th March 2013 -> 11:00 Am, I will reach Bangalore from Pune on KSRTC
12th March 2013 -> I should leave Bangalore to Pune
      13th March 2013 -> 13:30, I should reach office in Pune

My concerns are as below and I need your help to plan this ride please.

      1. My bike has done around 15k Kms and my brother got it serviced 6 months back. Could you please suggest me a good service centre in Bangalore North(Sanjaynagar) where they could give some priority to XBHP members and service my bike in a day please.
      2. Could you please let me know if I have to start using semi-synthetic engine oil now? A friend of mine suggested me this and I am not very knowledgeable on this. Please suggest me the oil name if it is a good idea to use semi-synthetic oil.
      3. I am planning to buy Cramster riding gear -> Jacket, Pant and gloves.. from Cunningham road store.. are they good?
      4. I am a very big fan of K&N filter sound for long now but never got an opportunity to install it on my bike.. My friend suggested to install K&N RU200 -> Anybody who has knowledge about this.. could you please let me know where in bangalore, I can buy it.

I know I sound silly, but is there any XBHPian by any chance planning a ride to Pune on that day.. it would be great to have a partner.. Currently, we are two people.. Me and my cousin brother who would be riding his R15 along with me!

My sincere apologies in case I have not framed my queries well and I would appreciate your suggestions if I have made any mistakes..

      Thanks everyone!

Its not that we dislike the new model. It's an RTR and we will never dislike it. What we are trying to say is the old model was a 'better looking' model that's all.

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

              • Guys, back from a two day hike to Agastyakoodam. Had to ride the bike to starting point as there was no other mode of transport available. There is about two kms of no road or off road trip where there are only large stones and mud. There were no incidents, but the headlight seems to have an issue.

When the bike revs while climbing, on normal road conditions, the low beam flickers. For sometime in a 50 km stretch I had to ride with high beam as the low was not available. It just turned off. After some time of riding it came back online and I rode it for another 100 kilometers. Could it be a loose wire or is there any battery problem?

I had posted this a few days back. AFAIK, both the new and the old ones are being produced.
I had been to the SVC/showroom a few days back. There, 2 classic RTR180s had come for their first servicing. Upon closer inspection, I found that the key and the switch gear are same as the new 'beast-eyed' RTRs. The side panels(AF/Battery cover) are a bit different(neither like the new ones nor like the old ones). There was a mudguard like cover for rear disc. All the other things were found to be the same.
Also, three classic RTR160 hyperedges were on display. They too had the new switch gears, key, side panels and rear disc cover. In addition, they had 110/80-17 tubeless tyres(Same as the beast eyed 160s/all 180s) instead of the old 100/80-18 tubeless. The showroom guy said that they're new stocks and that TVS are producing them again....
It'd be a good move if both are produced simultaneously...

That's where they went wrong IMO. It should have been new beast, enhanced bloodline

Hi mutthanna, if you just postpone your ride by a week or so, you can have company of mine from pune to bangalore & back to pune as well.

Would like to hear from you.

                        • TVS has stopped producing the newer version of APACHE 160/180 temporarily, and started producing the older version of Apache 160/180. I am not sure whether they will stop producing the newer version of Apache 160/180 permenantly or not. This move is due to the demand of the older version of Apache 160/180 to the dealers and the complaints about the design of the 2012 APACHE RTR.

Might be a loose contact, remove HL assemble and double check wiring, and while you're at it also do consider an upgrade to 55/60.

I have a similar problem, when I go offroad, one of the pilots starts to flicker and dim out, after a while it gets back to normal, sometimes I have to reset the bulb too.

Second service is around the corner. I guess I'll have them tested and if possible replaced then.
