The honda parts were tough to get..The KB is still with me..and even recently did a total engine revival for it. I also had a Honda MVX 250..A three cylinder " V" 250 cc engine. The Bike never had vibration in any RPM and you had to look at the rpm and speedo to know how fast you are.It had 6 gears, and in the sixth at 1,600 RPM it will do 60 Kmph.In just 500 mts distance in city I had done 120 Kmph.(80's when traffic was very less).Even in highway it will go effortlessly to 140Kmph...Why I sold it ? It gave 15 Kms per liter, and parts were very hard to source, and the forward inclined riding position gave me back stiffness.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Post

I would if I had enough of Vitamin " M ".At my age I have to become a squirrel. But the main reason is it had been a long time ,since I sat down to do mods or improvement to a bike. For my KB, sourcing the spares in itself was a very challenging one.Since I have done it, I am looking forward to doing up the Apache, since most of the performance enhancement are being done on this particular engine, and it seems to love it.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostRTR's vibes is in diff league !
i tried all, tightened things here and there but no vail.
FI vibrates as same as RTR carbed, may be more, it vibrates like hell between 5200-6800, and then after 7000 RPM the pillion refuses to keep his feet on the pegs.
I will strongly advise you to buy 180 directly !
Thanks for the input.

dude i had k&n before na i removed the filter so that i can show the smoke thing to the svc n put my old stock filter back and the smoke is almost nil now., wat should i do? should i still show it??? i don find any oil deposit in spark plug or exhaust hole tip., n my mech says it would have been coz of k&n or because of lil oil deposited in some valve.. wat should i do? should i claim warranty? my bike has done 93++ kms n is 8 months old.,

Going once till 105 shouldnt be a prob i guess , the key is not only to maintain low speed(<60) but top stay with in 4k RPM and short bursts in between , sad to hear about that accident ! ride carefully manOriginally posted by pranav_salieri View Posti had a small accident..slight scratch on the headlight!and my bike isnt even a week old!!
planning to put stickers to cover it up or is there anyway to adda tpugh up?? my bike is still in run in period and one of my friends ripped the bike to 105!
is this okay? or is it going to spoil my engine and what speed should i maintain?i am maintaining about 55 kmh max sometimes i go upto 60 is this okay, but i try to keep my bike below 4 RPM...i am experiencing large amout of vibes at 48-55 kmh will these reduce after first service??? also the engine gets hot very quickly is this beacuse this is a new bike???
WEll this is one the reasons that why i dont lend my bike to others !site:xbhp.com keyword -> Google this to dig up stuff in xbhp faster

Contrary to popular belief K & N is not good for most stock motors. It actually gets clogged much faster than the conventional air filters. On stock bikes it is wise to stick to stock air filters...What i think had happened in your case is,the K&N had clogged and made the AF ratio rich....and you saw the excess petrol being burnt as black smoke. The spark plug tells us what is happening at the heart of the engine..and in your case it said the AF mix is rich...Do visit the A.S.S and tell them..even though we know the reason....It is a little Insurance,on the off chance if the engine gets into any problem(shouldn't touch wood)in future, you at least have a complaint to show that you did report engine problem.Originally posted by dead_piper View Post@rennycornelius

Changing air filter alone will give you ZERO increase. In any ICE the combustion and power is dependent on the volume of fuel and the air(oxygen) to burn it. Increasing only one parameter cannot give any improvement. There are other elements, like heat produced and dissipated, compression, inlet and exhaust efficiency etc.,..Changing stock air filter to K&N will give you the sound of the air breathing through K&N....and your bike will become slower...since you have more air and less fuel in the chamber.Originally posted by dead_piper View Posthmmm., mech said bike ir running awesome condition.,
but the thrill with the filter was too much., miss it.
now i made up mind to use it once a while n not regularly., btw how much power does aftermarket filter increase???

Yes then it will definitely increase the resultant engine power...what you have listed is a typical tuner's way to increasing the power...unless you are thorough with your basics and the specific engine's plus and minus, and design your upgrade within it,you are likely to blow up an otherwise perfectly working engine.Originally posted by dead_piper View Postbut i thought it ruins n slows engine on the long run only...
and what if we put the filter n install free flow exhaust n use bigger jet and change to irridium plug n higher power plug wirer???
-ps: this was my plan for future mod
Even otherwise any mod done to increase the stock engine to give more power than stock will lead to shorter engine life.Yamaha has a Daytona kit for the R15 as an upgrade for performance. They have clearly mentioned that this mod is not street legal, and WILL SHORTEN THE Engine's LIFE.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Dead Piper try to go for a bigger paper filter which has 98% filter efficiency, rather than K&N. You can try fitting a Car's stock paper filter, with due modifications.Look around and search, I am sure you will find one suitable to your requirement.

I think Maruthi OMNI van filter is Round and long...may be you can cut and remod it to suit you....Most cars have only paper filters. If you have any friends in the 4 wheeler spare parts shop..you can see which one can be modified with least trouble.Originally posted by dead_piper View Post
SWEET ... car filter sounds good., will search for some old ones.,
For Maruthi it starts from about Rs.150/-
