I guess..if it is pinking...then u have to make the air fuel ratio Rich...and on top of that shift @4-5k for a normal ride....Riding at lower gears or at lower RPM may not reduce knocking..
yeah i an having the same knocking problem there is a knocking sound at around 2k or less .what should i do to remove it .
Don't know about ZMA/R15 but the pulsars definitely skid. And so does RTR. Come on, the tyre won't stick like glue if you use the front brake at those speeds. (Or should they
If they should, I better change my tyres
)
And why would you do that. We are supposed to use both brakes, balance our body to stabilize the bike under hard braking.... just the tyres won't do the trick...
I agree that tyres wont stick like glue....but tyres have a major role to play under heavy braking...i remember braking hard(both front and rear) on a freeway (these roads are supposed to be the best road in Inda)and the bike fishtailed like hell ! ! !
Agreed... Thats why I had my stock tyres on for 15k kms... I used to go for cornering trips all the time.. Heck I even did the ARE on the stock tyres..
(albeit sliding all over the place..) I thought it was as good as it could get..
I was wrong.. I normally am a silent visitor to the RTR thread everyday.. Dont post tat much cos am too lazy to type..
But yday, the potential I saw in the bike hit me so hard I just wanted to tell the whole world about it...
I can feel it dude ! ! !
i guess its both the front and rear that skids like mad....the problem with TVS tyres are they are of harder compound than any other tyres found in INDIA...so they do last long(infact very long..i had my TVS Victor rear tyre changed after 6 yearsOriginally posted by shivank View PostTake your bike to the driest possible road..At about 55-70kmph pull the front brake(only) and see how in a second you pray to God for your dear bones..Front skids like mad..
Try the same thing with any other bike like FZ/R15/Pulsars/ZMA and see the difference..
Yes,they perform well under normal usage,I agree..The reason why we all are still alive and posting our experiences here..But they do not do justice with the brand RTR..
..and that too I used to ride 50kms/day average ! ! !..and I normally ride hard..
) but lack Grip..which is a must if u have a higher CC bike with loads of tourque ! ! !
yeah....i can bet on that...Mine 4650kms on ODO..but the tyres are as good as new..I mean, I can hardly spot any difference between a new oneOriginally posted by social View PostFair point
But guess I have a long way to go before my tyre wears out...
...
So I will say if anybody feels TVS tyre got good grip and everything..I will suggest Test ride an Apache with a Zapper or R15 tyre...U will feel the differnce for sure...Last edited by pritish; 11-18-2010, 10:21 PM.Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

Dude..DOC uses his prior experience of thousands of milage, more than what we normal commuters have...before he decides the speeds to play safe...Originally posted by social View Posthehe
Even the Doc plays it safe when it rains

and some other good riders like Stoner, too takes 5-6 fall on a dry tarmac of a MotoGP race..before he decides how much load he needs to give on his Front ! ! !so if we(Non MOTOGP
) riders know the saftey speed limits without compromising on the Thrill
..I will always remark it as "a wise decision"....he he

Its clear from that your AFR is not proper...enrich it...I guess the problem will go...Refer to this link on Team BHP http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...atio-bike.html....But I would say take it to SVC and make it done(If u trust ur SVCOriginally posted by rahul 55 rocker View Postyeah i an having the same knocking problem there is a knocking sound at around 2k or less .what should i do to remove it .

Sorry I cant relate to this info ! ! !..If i guess it right,do u mean after a ride bike is idling at 2k..and when u start it in morning its 1.3k????Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Postbike is idling at 2k RPM.bike has done 610 KMS on odo, first service not done yet, engine is running too hot even if i take the bike out for like 1-2 kms. normal idling rpm 1.3K +or- 100.should i give for service asap??
If this is so,then turn the screws on ur carb..to set the idling to 1.2k RPM...after u ride for say 10-15kms..thats the proper way to set ur Idling RPM on ur bike...when the engine is at its running tempr...I too have faced the same problem earlier..try it..Last edited by pritish; 11-19-2010, 02:32 AM.Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

Yes P220's Zapper FS would be a direct fit for the front. 110 waala Zapper for the rear is fine too.Originally posted by shivank View PostGood to hear that the bike now feels more confident..
It's been 12k-odd on the speedo and I am thinking to swap the rubber as well..I was looking for Pirelli(Sport demon 120/XX-17) or some Michelin.Problem is these tires are a tedious task to find..Plus I was compromising on the fit i.e going to fit a notch higher than the stock..Now that you are satisfied with the IRC rubber,I shall go out and find one!..Also,Is R15's front direct fit to the 180?..I remember P220-front is direct fit..
TVS tires suck for sure.. While down-shifting at high revs (or if engine braking) the rear fishtails! Scary as hell..
Update: The bike is inching close to 20,000kms. The front tyre has gone almost bald!!

What symptoms you are encountering i mean how do you know that bike is running hot ?
Usually if it is running hot then probably
You'll feel a abnormal behaviour in RPMs i mean rising up and coming down late
Bike feels a bit more vibrations as compared to normal
Running on High RPM say 6k or 7k you'll experience a bit low punch in power and pickup.
My advice is that first get your AF mixture tuned up if it is too much rich on petrol side, this can be a effect as i have experienced the same.
If that solves the problem then let everybody know itEVERY MORTAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN DESTINY

Thanks, would fit it directly then..So are you planning to replace your 'ganja' tire with zapper?Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostYes P220's Zapper FS would be a direct fit for the front. 110 waala Zapper for the rear is fine too.

You are running on Zapper(rear),no?..I am sure they'd be a 100 times better than Mr.Shrichakra! Though,I shall find the IRC first..If it can make a lazy xbhpian(you social!) do a tedious task of logging in and posting a comment, there must be something interesting about it..
Otherwise, will go for the Zapper happily..!
PS: Bike's asking for too much! Front and rear disc pads, plates both are to be changed;Clutch plates are gone too..And now the tires..I will blow a good(and big) hole in my pocket,..er,my dad's pocket actually..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Hi
Dear Friends,
Wsup !!
Guys, I am done with 600 + on my odo and thinking to give bike for servicing. I need your help with the following:
1: I want to change the engine oil. I don't trust that TVS oil. Which is the best Mineral Oil for the engine. I want butter smooth gear shift and longer engine life. Cost no problem. Please recommend me the best oil.
2: What else should i ask the service guys to look out for.
3: I know the service center guy personally so they give me a good service i know. How can i take advantage of this ?
Thanks friends

As your bike is due for the 1st service,I would recommend Elf Moto4 gold 20W40 (mineral oil).Gels well with the 180.My bike is also running on the same oil.Gear shifts had become smoother than before. And many guys here had used the same oil uptill the 2nd or 3rd service.Originally posted by Shankar7 View PostDear Friends,

TVS tru4 does not carry the same reputation as of the TVS tyres...they are not the best..but they are good enough....newazz as u said u want the best..then my experience with Shell Advance Fast track 20W40(Mineral) has been more than satisfactory....gear shifts have gone smoother..and vibes have come down considerably ! ! !...(only after my second service)Originally posted by Shankar7 View PostDear Friends,

And please dont expect the vibes to dissapear and gears to be butter smooth..just after your 1st service(no matter which mineral oil in the world u use)..have patience till 2k kms....
...till that point have a feel of ur babe ! ! !
and for ur rest of ur servicing...I guess if u find any problems with ur bike...tell ur SVC guy..and as u mentioned u know him well...I believe he will take care of it in a proper manner(Unlike most of us guys here who have been unlucky ! ! ! )Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

First Week Review : RTR180
Originally posted by thunderbird_m6 View PostGuys, took delivery of rtr-180 extremely unexpectedly 2 days ago - sold zma-r & was planning for power bike. Will post pics in a day or two...
Just a small first-ride impression after 4 days of owning this pocket-rocket. I do own p220f along side p200, traded my gem-ZMA R & was thinking to either take R15 or to-be-launched new ZMA. Diwali almost crossed & no news from HH stable on revamped ZMA launch. Happened to passby TVS showroom, just went into showroom to have a peep at 180. Showroom person knewed me since a while ago coz I took Wego for my dad. He told me there is only one 180 available in white & waiting period for same is 20-30days. Booked my rtr180 on the spot & next day it was in my hands.
My height is 6' hence I'm unable to settle into bike's riding composure. Had to cramp a bit & this will further take time for me to complete memorize a position. Bike is pretty fast if u mishandle the throttle - power delivery is also lightening quick since this being a 17ps 180cc mill.
Didn't checked mileage yet, I will be changing pilot lamps to those from p220f which are while. Also thinking for a HID change but will do it post 3-4k odo reading is crossed.
Will post pics by weekend... in a day or two ! By the way - plz advice which is the preferred oil to go for, once my bike comes to first service stage. Any other precautions if to be advised ARE HEARTLY WELCOME.You must be the change you wish to see in the world

Congrats bro for the getting menace. I got an experiance to share with you. I was confused about the proper run in period. After extensive research over the internet i chose NOT to follow the manual and follow the Hard ripping method. Initially my engine was rough and grunty and i was getting around 32 to 34 KMPL fuel average. After around 300 + Kms following hard ripping method, I can feel that my bikes engine is far more refined and the strange thing is I am getting 45 to 48 KMPL fuel economy. I was not sure about this but i checked this 4 to 5 time and same fuel economy.Originally posted by thunderbird_m6 View PostJust a small first-ride impression after 4 days of owning this pocket-rocket. Secondly make sure that you are extra careful with TVS tires. I dunno why the idoits in the TVS put such a crappy tyres in this powerhouse bike. Be careful with wet roads. All the best and I am sure you gonna enjoy one hell of a ride
