        • Simply can't figure out the problem with my squealing front brakes. The tyre rotates fine (just a slight noise) and the disc stays cool if I don't use the front brakes (did 5 kms using just rear brake and the front disc was cool. Maybe the weather was too cold ) It just squeals under medium to hard braking with no noise while riding (Pads gone but so soon ????)

Guess I'll have to take it to ASC and open up the setup. But that'll have to wait till next week. Hopefully I am not doing damage to my front disc.

          • disc squeal

Social what you have said confirms that the disc pads are not rubbing on the disc. The squeal is because of pad dust embedded on to the pad,and is causing the problem. Proper cleaning of the pads will solve the problem..It is best done by A.S.S.

            • Hello guys,

had my first major accident with my whiteangel...my bike slipped when i used brakes on gitti(minute pebbles road) and my speed was around 50-60 and i got 4 stiches on the chin....( i was wearing a helmet NINJA STUDS and i think that is why my nose got saved) and hands and right leg knee got scrapped pretty bad.....my bike has a big scar on the right near the headlamp and the right indicator was broken .

but thanks to the awesome leg guard there are no scratches on the tank or air scoops...the leg guard has twisted and will need to be straightened. i have been recuperating for about 2 weeks now and still i cannot ride my bike because the right leg wound is still not healed.

i would just to ask all the new bikers not to get carried away by the 180's power and pure awesomeness and ride with a little caution. hoping that i get back on my feet and my bike soon.

guys...my friend said the indicators will be changed as a pair and not a single piece. how much would that cost????

Glad to know you are ok bro... sand and pebble on the road should be avoided at any cost... hmmm
How come your chin hit the road if you had a helmet? I guess it was not of proper fit. And I hope you know that you'll need to replace the helmet. Please get one with proper fit. When worn, the helmet should not move sideways or upward(with strap put on). There are lots of videos on the net showing how to select a proper fitting helmet. And I hope you'll now consider buying more gear....

And replace the leg guard (aka engine guard) too. it was in good condition, hence it did its work. Now, if you straighten it and use, it wont be as strong as before. It cost around 450 rupees. I crashed twice and both time the engine guard got bend, and I replaced it even though the SVC offered to straighten in. Believe me, its worth the money.

The indicator.. if its base is broken, you'll need to replace it as a full unit. Comes to around 125 i think. Or was it 225? Not sure.. . But its not as a pair anyway. Dont let them fool you into buying as a pair.

                Get well soon bro...

as they say, there are two types of bikers... Ones who have fallen, and ones who are yet to fall...

What timing Swagat! ! !..I have been out of XBHP for over a month now..but I decided today to share my joy..coz I couldnot stop myself from sharing the info. I got from Overdrive magazines's OD Garage Column.

Senior correspondent Abhay Verma & and Correspondent Halley Prabhakar who rode RTR 180 and FI respectively for 9k kms approx. have shared their exprience and their grief of departing with the bikes ...there is absolutely no difference of opinion between what we and them feel about the bike ! ! !

I guess most of us would have gone thru this issue..but those who havnt...
Refer page 198 of the October 2010 edition.

                    Newayz...I am done with my 4th service...Odo - 4.5k

1.Finally got rid of the Suspension thud-thud noise ! ! !...as mentioned earlier,in the posts...it was inappropiate level of shock absorber oil and Fork mis-allignment...So happy with a smoother ride ..

2.Squeaking noise from front discs...because of dust and dirt..now its fine after bng cleaned up.

3.Rest were usual checks...so all in all had a satisfactory service(Finally..after three rubbish ones )

Shell Advance Fast Track has been good...as I had posted earlier...so this time too used the same.planning for a Semi Synth after 6k Kms...

                      Take care buddy!

But how did your chin get hurt? I think Ninja is a locking type helmet (the front can be pulled back) and the lock snapped on impact ???

It is good that you could walk away from your accident....Sorry to note the injuries to you and the bike..Remember money can repair Bike and buy spare parts.....not for us humans. So take good care of yourself and recuperate fully before you start riding the bike.

and ya..Tvs tyres suck...I once did a test for hard braking on a wet tarmac...and boy,I had my heart in my mouth ! ! !..and same with pebbles and sand..so I guess u have learnt now to be careful in such instances ! ! !...tc

You just need to clean the disc and pads with a high pressure jet..the sound usually comes because of dirt or dust accumulation in between the disc and pads...I too had the same problem..now its gone..
