there is a definite increase in pickup but it might also be due to the servicing.
Its due to filter partially, throttle response will also be much better and crispier.
But use this filter once in a while as it might do more harm than good.

    • most of you guys know that I changed my carburetor diaphragm (Rs 518/-) recently, after that like y'all say it was a pocket rocket
But there was a problem I faced before and also after replacement of the diaphragm i.e. stalling/jerking under 4K rpm when I hold the throttle constant at any particular rpm below 4K
When I took it to the SVC Tristar, Pandey (the mech) took a small test drive n came back. He told me that the problem was with the TCP/TPM or something; sorry i didn't take the picture of it I felt a little shy to take picture at an SVC. The TPM or the TCP I am referring to lies under the tank a red box sort of thing. He showed me a busted one which was lying in the toolbox that he changed the day before of another white apache. He just put some kerosene /diesel and cleaned in up nicely and since then the bike doesn't stall. What I noticed is that it got dirty and dusty that is the reason behind fluctuation of rpm - sort of holding the bike back and letting go at times.

When I watched him do this I was sure that this was a DIY, all you need to do is remove the seat and then the petrol tank and you will see a red box put some diesel and clean it up.
I still regret of not taking the picture, it would have really helped others a lot.

      My experience:
If your bike doesn’t cross a particular speed or if its crying to move then the diaphragm must be the suspect
If the bikes stalling in lower rpms then the TCP/TPM must be cleaned up or replaced.

My bikes beam used to fall very close to the bike, I asked the svc to check it the supervisor told no problem it’s just a nut that u have to loosen, adjust and tighten back. I asked him which one is that and then he showed me. Now the light seems to be okay. The red one marked is that nut I’m referring to.

But still my headlight beam falls a little bit towards the left side of the road, is there another way to correct this? Or is it a problem with the reflector –coz the mechanic said there is no problem with the reflector, I didn’t pressurize him to work on the headlight as I understood that he wasn’t in a mood to work on a dull rainy evening, so was I

      • Guys, can someone suggest me a good rear tyre with a good grip? The stock tyre has had 8 punctures in 16k km, so I need a hard compound and a tubeless tyre. My budget is ~2500. Life is not much of an issue, 14-15k is more than enough. I'm leaning towards the IRC NR48 but it's not available in stock in the nearby shops. What other options do I have?

Prateek mrf zapper c is a good bet, I got it too the traction on sand and wet roads is 70% better I'd say

Alternate is mrf zapper vyde but again softer than the zapper c do could face punctures.

Thanks for sharing all that info in detail about Carb diaphragm and TPS (Yes, it's the Throttle Position Sensor). Many guys here know about TPS, but new owners will certainly benefit from your post

              @prateekm
Bro, TVS tires on RTR 180 are light weight and are of hard compound. Clocked 18,500 kms, and NEVER had a single puncture till date with both front and rear and the tires still have lots of life left in them.
Yes, i do accept they are NOT grippy anywhere other than dry tarmac.

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

It's really shocking that you had so many punctures, i had just 1 puncture with my rear stock tyre in its 20+kms of life. Front completed 30k kms and still does not have a puncture. Maintaining proper air level front 28psi and rear 30/32 psi is important at all times. Check air pressure regularly. And as for the tyre suggestion. I changed my rear to the R15 V1 tyre and its pure bliss while cornering. If you dont corner much, go for michelin sirac... you will love its toughness...

Actually that is what i'm wondering about. This type of air filter comes as stock for a lot of bikes, GS150R is just one of them... if those bikes can last long, won't ours?

yea 35k sounds a great amount to me too.

That is the catch, demand for FI is more than carb versions of 160, if its a carb only yellow bikes are preferred.
Drum brake model black, gray are not hot now. Only FIs & ABS versions of RTRs will fetch you good money.
really? 40k seems like a dream right now to me. would be awesome if i get that much, though.

Agree 100%. The RTR is a racing bike. Buying a stable And strong helmet like an LS2 will do you better. This I say from experience. You can see my dp. The helmet is a Vega motocross. I got that as a complement with my bike. Its unstable at speeds > 70kph. And it's weak. I also have an ls2. It saved my life 15 days back. You choose.

                        • First long ride on my rtr
Chennai to Vellore - i made sure that the fuel in the main tank is empty and following the reserve to reserve method (resetted the trip meter)ive put petrol for 150bucks (2.08L) in Chennai and i maintained the speed between 45-55km/hr throgh the entire 150km drive ,i was surprised that i could go 142km for 150bucks (not sure if this could happen, gotta confirm on my way back again just to be sure)

i could sense these after first service
                          pro's
                          Mileage on city - 45Km/L before 38.3km/L
Mileage oh highway - 68Km/L before nvr tested.
couldn feel the vibes, maybe i got used to it

screech noise in the front disc whenever i apply (ive told the svc guys several times but they just couldn't fix it)

now almost 1K on the ODO ....

Thats a good mileage but I still doubt it
Regrading noise from front disc, ask the svc to get the disc pad re installed after giving them a pressure wash.
                              Drop in pickup as in............?

Check the nuts of headlight assembly and near the front meter console.
