And if its 14 kp/h error then what if someone goes to 140kp/h tomorrow ? And we rode almost 4-5km on that Runway constantly at full throttle then only got that 138 mark... (yes with error dont know if its +ve or -ve)

Sorry for back to back posts...
Yes, you can use mobile GPS to calculate speed with much more accuracy. The error is not fixed in terms of a number, its more like a percentage. eg. P220 (2008 onwards) has an error of +7.3%. So 150kmph on the speedo is (150/1.073 =) 139.8kmph true speed and 100kmph on speedo is (100/1.073 =) 93.2kmph true speed.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Start a GPS based tracking software and hand over the phone to your pillion. Tell the pillion to keep an eye on the speedo and remember the highest speed he/she sees while you ride normally (no high speed runs required).

When you stop, check GPS tracker data for the highest speed reached on the GPS log.

        Error % = [(Speedo read / GPS Speed) - 1]* 100

        Repeat process for more accuracy.

        • Once i checked with the Videcon phone GPS and found that my bike has costant 10% of speedo error.
On speedo i was on 100 kmph and on GPS its 90 kmph only. I reached 110 on bike speedo and on GPS it was 100.

Videcon Phone GPS is quite accurate.

This Speedo Error also leads to wrong measurement of actual mileage we are getting.
That is, when we have travelled 50 kms on road we have actually travelled 45 kms.
So in my case if by going Speedo measurement my bike is giving 40 kmpl, its actually giving me only 36 kmpl

Today I learnt a lesson. The hard way. Just because you have ABS does not mean everybody has it. Met with an accident. Jammed breaks. Came to standstill but the Scooty idiot rammed into me. Slight leg injury. Front suspension is bent. Head light glass is broken. Feeling very bad. Guys do you have any idea how much that would cost to fix on insurance?

Wrong info, Road distance calculated in kilometers aren't by speed guns & I doubt if Speed indicator & distance calculator are dependent ....

Lets say your bike speedo has a 10% calibration error and you are going at speedo indicated speed of 50 kmph(but actually you are going at 45 kmph). How much distance you will cover in an hour if you ride constantly at the same speed?

                  Brother just think over it.
