Yes. we are supposed to...but when i talked this thing with SVC guy he said if any problem occurs in the engine during warranty period and if u r using some different oil, then company will get a point for debate.
I got the point and kept mum...
but I personally hate this Tru4 oil..!! clutch slippage is d severe problem.
when u spot harshness in clutch even after going thru all settings of clutch cable, definitely there is some problem inside...am I right?

15/09/2012. The date I took the delivery of my pearl white Apache RTR 180 ABS. I have owned a 110cc bike (Honda CB Twister) before the beast. The most I got on the odo on my commuter in a month was about 700km. Knowing this, I knew it was gonna be a long painful wait till 1000kms on my beast. I do not know how I did it, but 16 days later, the odo showed 751.6kms. It was already time for the first service! So here is my experience after the first service:

Major issues I've had with my beast are:
1.Chain makes a loud CHAK CHAK sound.
2.There is a very irritating sound like that of a loose washer or nut from the chasis.
3.Center stand needs to be retracted manually, the spring was loose.

      4.The left mirror was loose.
      5.Fake neutrals.

All of the above fixed to satisfaction. Number 1 seems to persist, though. Will have to look into it.

I maintained the bike in a very clean way. Though it rained and she got dirty, I did a minimal shampoo wash n got out all the muck. The SVC people appreciated it as it reduced their work(I think it was plain flattery :P ). Oil change was done. Filter changed. All moving parts lubed. Clutch adjusted. Total bill amount including oil cost : 378 INR.

Changes noticed after service : Bike is bit more responsive to throttle. I can feel it in the very first gear. Also, before service, I was able to do 52kmph at 4k RPM. Now I'm able to do 54kmph at 4k RPM. Saree guard removed.

Overall experience : I'm very happy. But it's only service number one. Aage aage dekhna hai kya hota hai!

did you found any satisfactory solution to these red colored problems?

Not by myself, but they were all fixed! The chain sound was because it was too loose. Too much freeplay. The washer was tightened after first service, no sounds since then. The stand is loose because the spring isn't tight enough. They'll fix the problems easily at SVC.

        • Shell AX7 at rs 350 seems to be best alternative for TVS Tru4, loved it no false neutral & bit smoother ride.

          hows the pic guys ?

          • Hello People!! Here I'm, writing about My experience with My Bike, now that it has completed 10,000 kms yesterday!! I had read many reviews about by different Peoples, hoping for a chance, and Here I get one!!

Let Me begin from starting. Like everyone else, and no offence intended, I had a little (read: Total!) incline towards the Yamaha R15. Visited many showrooms of Yamaha, took a few test rides, and discussed about it with My Friends. Although there was a problem: My Height and health! Being 6.1 feet and a little on the healthier side, R15 didn't suit Me at all. And regarding other choices, I had very few as I wanted none below 160cc other than R15, and again no offence, but I wasn't much impressed by Bajaj. Then begin the hunt for others, visiting show rooms, test riding and so on! And then finally I decided to go the TVS Apache RTR 180. Got a lot information about it Thanks to you People, did a test ride on a old 160cc Apache, tried the new one too and finally selected it! Posture wise it suited Me too, as it was not too leaning and yet had the feeling of a racing . One thing I would like to say though that, I read that people went for this bike as It has much power or beat that Bike. I didn't go for that conditions, but it fulfilled all My needs which I needed then. This may be due to the reason that this is My first Bike, but nevertheless, I wanted it to suit Me. Then in the month of April, I went to the TVS show room near Me, booked it, and kept on pestering them till I got My Bike ! Then on one evening, I got a call, "Sir, Your Bike is ready. You may pick it up." Then and there I ran with My Brand new helmet and gloves, and there was the Beast, standing before Me!! Sparkling White, taunting Me! Did the preliminary checkup, had 7.1kms on ODO, but rest was fine. Took it Home, did Pooja, and went for a small test ride, and boy did it feel amazing! I had learnt how to ride using a Kawasaki 4S , not so much but yet good, but You can understand the HUGE difference I felt, was pure awesome!!
Form then till now, one year has passed, and all free services done. No major changes in the Bike. It is, as it is. The Bike was initially hard to ride, but as the servicing got done, felt more and more responsive, vibrations tolerable. In the time, had twice oil changed to other than the TVS one, one of which was Motul, and it was totally worth it. Had done a short trip of continuous 120kms in the run in, which helped Me a lot to understand the Bike. Have done a few trips after that too, and the Bike has responded as I needed! I have had a major accident too, but luckily the Bike was not at all damaged, just a few scratches here and there then. The highest speed I have achieved is 126 on a straight stretch, wouldn't go beyond it, or I guess I didn't need it to. I had some issues with mileage too, sometimes dropping below 30, but it always caught up later on. And as about the skidding and tire locking factor, I have had experienced it at beginning, but gradually I learnt to use the brakes, and now, after that, even when I braked hard a few times, I have never faced such issues. I have rode it on the highway for daily commute, and now learning to ride in city, as I have commute there now!

One thing I got though, that as time passes, You learn to trust on the Bike. Earlier I was afraid even to take a simple turn on the Bike, but now, I can easily lean in sometimes and maneuver it easily.

Okay then, that's all People! Hope You have enriching experience with the Bike! And those who are thinking of Buying this Beast, I would like to say to give it a try, You won't regret it!

            Km on ODO: 10,000
Duration: 1 year and 5 months.
Current Issues: Broke the leg guard, have to fix it and wiring loose somewhere.

That's a very beautiful prose on your experience with your steed my friend. In terms of the apache, you are my senior, knowing and understanding the bike. I still have loads to understand and comprehend. Already had an incident and my ride is barely a month old. I hope to understand the beast as well as you do someday. And congratulations on your milestone!

                    I have got a problem
wanted to change the engine oil by myself DIY...now the nut to drain out the old oil is jammed, this has been a problem from the last five months (used to give it to ASC so didn't bother about it much) now that I'm a part of this forum I wanted to do at least some stuff by myself. So please help me here

The big nut there is something I could not open, so would it be fine to remove the rest of the small nuts and changing the oil?
And by what you see there, is it rusted too bad? Can we do anything about it??

By the looks of it, better you get it done at the SVC. And, the big nut alone need to be removed.
Make sure the engine is warm before draining out the oil... it makes it come out fast and almost completely. Just warn the person doing the job that the engine is hot and take care. Hot oil has acidic properties.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Probably some 2000 kms, from last one and half month. I feel the oil level is low though,
