    • Recently my throttle cable was broken..Luckily I found it broken before starting for the trip..Anyway I didnt go to svc to get it replaced & the local mechanic bought from a different shop...Just concerned whether I need to replace it with TVS genuine parts...How much would it cost...Also recently my front mudguard was broken after a small accident...It took more than a week for the part to arrive in the svc....they are quoting 1000/-rs for the hyperedge front mudguard...Just concerned whether stickers will also be there along with this or whether I need to pay extra for that??

      • I got my drive chain slackness adjusted today. My last service was 2k kilometers ago. I knew it would make a difference but not to that extent. Now the bike feels a bit smooth. Once in how many km do you guys adjust your chain slack?

        • Hello People, Here to trouble You again! Recently I covered 15k kms on My Bike, and thought I would like to do some modifications on it. So I have considered to go for a HID. But to be honest, I don't know a thing about it. So if You People could just elaborate (extremely) the term for Me, what I need to do for it(other than the DC), which bulb do I need to choose and all. Help and suggestions from HID users would be a lot appreciated. I tried reading a lot back in this thread, but honestly, couldn't get much. Few guidelines to help Me better:

1> Already out of warranty(2 years done.)
2>Going to convert it to DC.
3>Not much of a night rider, yet need it when I ride at night.
4>Budget is 3-4k at the max.
          5>Going for more visibility.

Also if Anybody is from Pune, I would appreciate help a lot!

The cost is something near Rs. 100 for throttle cable. And ask them if the stickers are included on the mudguard, cause usually they are!

            • I'm not asking about the DC conversion, just about the HID as I said "what I need to do for it(other than the DC)". And if the answer would be the same, kindly pour in some suggestions and experiences, if any, while I get back at it!

I dont kno wif I am correct at this other senior members know better than me! But still giving away my experience.I got it fitted in my 2012 version without dc conversion. The guy said the apache battery is very heavy and it can take all the load of the battery without getting discharged for how long you may drive. And since then never got an issue. I dont drive for very long in night but still 45 min to 1 hr I have did but the battery dintr gave any problem just that the horn slows down a bit that too it gains power when you are riding constantly because the starting up of HID takes place a lot of juice! just an advice if you are not an avid night rider! the reason for it being that dc conversion is a tedious task and if not done properly can degrade the performance as the coil is changed up!

Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc < You may browse this thread for HID and related lighting details.

2012 RTR 180 ABS doesn't need DC conversion. It's recommended for other models by senior members.

Throttle cable assembly (N9170230) costs 172 INR including VAT 20 INR here in Trivandrum. Mine broke last Dec while riding... so you can guess the trouble i had Replaced it at TVS SVC.

Throttle cable for RTR 180 has two ends, one is connected to the Carb and the other to TPS. So, the fuel tank needs to be removed to get the job done.

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Yep. You'll get used to. BTW, you'll be riding mostly at 4-5 k rpm range as it's the run in period and RTRs are vibration prone at this range. So it'll be over in a matter of months, may be in weeks. That was the case with me. I too was a bit worried. Don't worry much about it. It'll be alright.

Still if you think it's unbearable, get it to the nearest svc and ask them to tighten all possible nuts. This will do away with most vibrations.

OT: Rtrlover83, thought of sending you a PM. Your storage limit seems to have exceeded.

Thanks for the info yaar...Yes I remember the local mechanic removing the tank to get this fixed...
Btw I got my front disc pads replaced...Its almost worn out ...but what worries me is, its got worn out in 5k kms...maybe because of the kollihills trip i made in between which had nearly 80 hair pin bends.....also changed the front mud guard after a small accident which broke my stocks...also changed the two small bulbs in the headlamp as one was kaput & the other was almost the end of life with pitch black covering...
                            Bill goes as below:
                            Front Mud Guard(Hyperedge model): 744.98
                            Kit paad Assembly(Front Disc): 226.20
                            Bulb CAP LESS BULB: 10.48
                            Disc Pad Replacement: 60.00
                            Labour Charges: 75.00

The last two stuffs are related to labour I guess... Anyway total: 1276/- shelled out.

                            • To all those who have changed their accelerator/ clutch cable, what was your approx km on odo when you changed it. I usually do at every 15K km (periodic maintenance) . I know it depends on our riding style but still it would be helpful to others.
