Now decided, My next would be the Duke anyway, But it would be the D390, and RTR would stay for ever....Totally agree with you two! I knew I couldnt part with my RTR which has brought out the tourer in me (This bike literally changed my life!), but that hunger for performance will always be thereOriginally posted by prateek2210 View Post"Attachment" is the correct word. Don't want to leave my RTR

Hi Xbhpians...Recently it started raining in Bangalore, that the idea of changing my stock tires had started brimming up in my mind...Ok I know there is a separate tire section thread in xbhp, but I wanted to hear it directly from RTR guyz who actually use the tire models which I'm looking for...It might be a re-opening or redundant query but please bear with me & I'm waiting for your valuable feedbacks & suggestions which will be really helpful for me...
Now to the query part, my steed is RTR-Hyperedge & have been running on stock tires for more than 21k in odo...
I have almost decided on the front tires which will be MRF-Zapper-FS (MRF Zapper FS 90/90-17) after so much of searching in xbhp.
Now the rear tires is something I'm bit confused. As you know RTR-HE-160 rear rim size is 18'. So not much of options unlike 17' ones.
I'm happy with the stocks in dry conditions but I have had so much of scary moments in wet conditions that I'm forced to change my stocks even though the threads are still good & can run for another 10k. But now that I'm recently married I cant take that extra risk because I have a pillion rider most of the time.
I'm looking for 100/90-18 profile which will save our life in wet conditions.
I have kept a few options depending on the availability part.
1. Zapper Y -> MRF Tyres
2. Zapper Q -> MRF Tyres
3. Zapper C -> MRF Tyres
4. MoGrip-Meteor -> MRF Tyres
Here Zapper Y costs around 1900/- tubeless & MRF showroom guyz suggest this over others.
They say zapper-q (rs. 2300/-) is good only on highway roads & is not that good as promised by MRF based on the feedback they got from customers..
No one suggested zapper-c (almost same price as zap-q) but seeing the tire-grooves design I felt it would do better than zap-y because zap-y is almost flat design on the center part of the tire making me doubtful how good it will be in wet conditions. Also one of my firend who uses unicorn said their stocks are zapper-y & is not good. He suggested to go for stunner stocks which I dont know what model it is. But again tire works differently for each bikes. That's the reason I prefer hearing from you guyz.
MoGrip(around same price as zap-Y but not tubeless) is good but will effect my mileage, acceleration & gear ratios as its heavy.
I'm sure most of u guyz would have tried any of these models sometime in your riding career.
So, please do help me to make a good decision with your valuable insights on experience by using them.Last edited by susheelkumar; 04-03-2013, 12:52 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all congrats on getting married.
IMO zapper q is strict no for wet conditions, its same as TVS's stock tyres.
Zapper Y would be the best option, its again not the best but better than what you have right now.
Have you searched for IRC/Pirelli/Michelin/Metzeler, far better than MRFFare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Infact I might also zero-in on zapper-y after looking on other tires which you mentioned above.
I have no idea on the availability part of IRC/Pirelli/Michelin/Metzeler in bangalore & its price.
Moreover I'm looking for 100/90-18' profile, & what I have heard is the above models all come with much higher profiles than what I'm looking for.
Can anyone from bangalore suggest the dealer name & location where you find these tires.
Btw I heard PSD is awesome in dry, but not that spectacular in wet conditions.
Is that so??
Any suggestionsLast edited by susheelkumar; 04-03-2013, 07:08 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guys, upgraded the headlamp to 12V 60/55w Osram Bilux H4. Found that the stock one was Osram Bilux HS1 35/35w. I thought the stock one was some other brand.
The light throw is good. A more whitish light. 4000k luminance. But I feel the low beam throw is shorter than before. High beam throw and reach is good. I get a clearer view of the road.

Very few PSDs are available in Blore now & they sell at almost double the price! Michelin tyres can found in many stores (There is one in Indiranagar, Sai Iyengar tyres, try googling for more stores)Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostI have no idea on the availability part of IRC/Pirelli/Michelin/Metzeler in bangalore & its price.

Metzelers dont usually come in these small sizes & it would be extremely expensive too.
In wet condition almost any tyre will have lesser traction. PSD is one of the best in any road conditions. If you can find a 100 or 110 size in it for a decent price ( <3.5k) just go for it.
Also, have you tried changemytyre.com? Their prices are cheaper than what most stores quote. I have ordered a Michelin Pilot sporty 90/90-17 front half an hour back
Might get it in a day or two.
You can try adjusting the headlamp adjusting bolt (it is located right below the headlamp) for a better throw.Originally posted by evyavan View PostGuys, upgraded the headlamp to 12V 60/55w Osram Bilux H4. May be it's just a feeling. May be I've to adjust more to the new light. I'll try adjusting the headlamp bolt. Thank you for the suggestion.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostYou can try adjusting the headlamp adjusting bolt (it is located right below the headlamp) for a better throw.
PS: I find your upgrades thread amazing. I'm planning for upgrades after I complete the warranty period. I think by then I'll be able to visit Bglore and Joel. Trying to save enough dough, though that seems to be the most difficult part of all.
Also looking forward to Prateek's experience with upgrades.

How much did the Osram Bilux 55/60 cost? You could have tried Philips Extreme Vision or Osram Nightbreaker (both 55/60) which are supposed to be best in business but will set you back by around 700 bucks IIRC.. Btw you ABS guys are lucky, you can directly upgrade to 55W halogen or 35W HIDs with zero hasslesOriginally posted by evyavan View PostMay be it's just a feeling. It is suggested and is reliable to be a speeds between 80-90kmph for long rides. But. for how long or how many kilometers can we be at these speeds continuously (non-stop)?
How soon would your engine heat-up?
2 weeks back I went to Yelagiri, while on the way back home before reaching Bangalore I rode for 70 kms continuously at 80-95 kmph. After reaching the city limits I noticed an unusual sound from the bike, which was coming on and off once I don’t accelerate(say around 4-5K rpm). I really could not define how the sound was, but sure it was from the engine. Now on daily rides to office I don’t find the sound.

It cost me only 250 INR. First of all, I am a total noob to all other aspects of riding, other than riding a bike.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostHow much did the Osram Bilux 55/60 cost? Also at this place I couldn't find the right shop to buy a quality product. I went searching for Philips as that is a brand I'm more comfortable with. But settled with Osram as that is the one I could find in a more economic range. Will try the other ones in, may be, 4-5 months.
I thank myself day after day for opting the ABS version, though I took it for more protection. Less hassles in upgrades and all. Only thing is the SVCs around here are a bit cautious to take my bike for servicing as they say they are not qualified to service "ABS" bikes.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostBtw you ABS guys are lucky, you can directly upgrade to 55W halogen or 35W HIDs with zero hassles

I sure hope the same.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostAnd thanks man, I am happy that the thread will be of some help for you when you finally decide to take the plunge

Is there any difference in electricals of Apache 180(2012) and Apache 180 ABS (2012) ?
I own a Apache 180 ABS Can I use 55W xenon bulb instead of stock without a bit affecting on my battery ?Last edited by Albert Paul; 04-04-2013, 12:18 AM.

It seems both have different electrical set up. We don't have to do any alterations to our bikes' electricals to add a 12v 55w bulb. You can directly put a 55w bulb. :thumbup: I just changed mine.Originally posted by Albert Paul View PostIs there any difference in electricals of Apache 180(2012) and Apache 180 ABS (2012) ?

@huntphani
I think the engine foundation bolts and washers needs to be checked and tightened. Tell the SVC to do it.
I have experienced (back in 08-09/2011) a sound from the engine (sort of like from an in-line four
) when throttle rolled off and decelerating through 4.5 to 3.5K engine rpm. After it started, was always there. Had no idea what could be the source... finally, it vanished after paying a visit to the SVC. Honestly, i had no hope the SVC would sort it out.
P.S. One of Drifty's recent posts with a photo, clearly shows the location of those bolts.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

I took my bike to a local mechanic here in Hyderabad for a general service, trust me, my bike has reached better than its best of the best.. he opened the carb fully and adjusted the carb needle and diaphragm... Cleaned every jet with petrol and made sure it is clean.. now my stock bike flies better than before and I'm staring to wonder if I even need a big bore kit now
