In wet condition almost any tyre will have lesser traction. PSD is one of the best in any road conditions. If you can find a 100 or 110 size in it for a decent price ( <3.5k) just go for it.

Also, have you tried changemytyre.com? Their prices are cheaper than what most stores quote. I have ordered a Michelin Pilot sporty 90/90-17 front half an hour back Might get it in a day or two.
Thanks a lot for the info yaar.
Thanks a ton for sharing that website..

          • Hi All....How to identify whether your stock tire rims are TT type / TL type?
I mean I'm using RTR-160 hyperedge version which comes with TT(Tube-type) tires.
So, is it really safe to go for TL(Tube-less) type tires when your stock rims wont support it.
How can we identify what kind of rim-type our stocks are? Where will I get those informations?

I don't know how to identify the rim type. But it's perfectly fine to use tubeless tyres on RTR160 with stock rims. I know a few people who have done more than 20000km on the stock rim with tubeless tyres. Even most of the veterans in the RTR160 thread used to run tubeless on the stock rims. So, I'd say, go ahead...

              • I wanted to change my chain/sprocket set for sometime now, but havent been able to find TVS genuine spare anywhere, came across a Rolon store and they had one, but it is more than 300 bucks cheaper than TVS one (IIRC TVS chain is also made by Rolon). So what is the catch here? Why the price difference? Can I buy the Rolon set or should I wait for TVS?

I got this info from another-website written by a member named shivank who I belive is still active member of xbhp-RTR 180 thread.

This has made me more cautious whether I really need to go for tubeless as the stocks are tube-type tires.
So I have a feeling whether the RTR-160 rims can handle the same or not.

I remember you writing once how you felt after going for a local carb-diaphragm instead of TVS genuine one.
So I would suggest better dont. Atleast you can claim if something goes wrong here.

                  • I see that he had used a tube type tyre in a tubeless rim. Tube type tyres have weaker sidewalls. So, they can't hold air properly and open up. On the other hand, tubeless ones have stronger side walls and fitting them on tubetype rims shouldn't be a problem. If you don't have budget constraints, you can buy 17" rims for peace of mind. You'll have better choice of tyres too. I really curse tvs for providing the primitive TT on the flagship brand. They started TL on 160 only in mid 2012. They could have easily done that back in 2010 with the hyperedges.

Hehe, even I remember that like it was yesterday But anyways things are different in this case. TVS spare is also manufactured by Rolon but branded as Genuine spare. I have read before some seniors buying the Rolon chains only. So wanted to confirm once.

                      • @susheel On a second thought, going for tubeless rims might be a better idea. Changing both the rims should cost 6.5 to 7k. That's pretty expensive but not so much when you consider the impact an opening tyre may have at 3 digit speeds. But we would have got an rtr180 for just 5k more at the time of purchase and that would have come with tubeless

That is one option But i would say stick to tube type tyre, why change and lose peace of mind?? In case fixing a puncture is your concern then use a tyre sealant along with the tubes. The sealant is sprayed to the valve of the tube and then inflated. Whenever there is a puncture, the sealant immediately seals the hole thus fixing the puncture automatically (You should be able to find this in JC road)

What the price of this complete chain sprocket set which you found right now???

Yeah that's what..at that time 180 was not the priority for me..ofccourse i luved the white one..
but budget was a problem..yeah even though 5k difference, that money also doesnt come easily... I had gone dual disk Hyperedge & bought it just as it was launched for which I shelled out 75k...
Anyway I'm not going to splash money to change the rims just for the sake of getting more options for tires & going for tubeless.
I feel tube-type will serve my need for now...

This looks interesting...just spray the tube with that sealant through the valve & then inflate & use it..looks like a magic...Does it really work??
                            whats the cost??

It was 970 as opposed to 1200+ for TVS wala.

Yup magic It has been around for quite sometime now, so I am assuming it works as advertised. You will have to spray the entire can for one tube (2 can for 2 tyres) and spray costs 100-200 (not sure but I remember some number like this ). This is not just limited to tube, it can also be used for tubeless tyres. I dont have a first hand experience with it, nor do I personally know anyone who used it but have been reading about it everywhere. (you can search for threads in xbhp for tyre sealants)

While on the way back from Yelagiri a black CBz overtook us, after few kilometers this bike had crashed, the rider and pillion were lying on the road. Got to know that their bike got punctured and tahts how they fell. Just before that in Yelagiri i was arguing with my friend about having tubless, he was saying its useless and puncture costs 120 instead of 40bucks which is useless. He realised after watching those guys back skin ripped off.
