  • Riding apache 180 ac for 3 months basically with no light(Hid+projector set, very less output, don't know whats wrong). So need to clear some doubts. Will post pics of light output tonight.
    Question:
One mech told me that he will do the dc conversion by swapping rr with ape rr,but no coil rewinding.Thinking about getting rewinding done from auto electrical people.
I am a total noob here,am I missing something?Which one to do first?
Is it a good idea to get a used coil and get it rewinded,so that I won't mess up everything?

The sealant is sprayed to the valve of the tube and then inflated. Whenever there is a puncture, the sealant immediately seals the hole thus fixing the puncture automatically (You should be able to find this in JC road)
I think I'll try it. It should be useful during touring. One good thing about TVS tyres is that they hardly get punctured Thanks for the info...

but budget was a problem..yeah even though 5k difference, that money also doesnt come easily... I had gone dual disk Hyperedge & bought it just as it was launched for which I shelled out 75k...
Anyway I'm not going to splash money to change the rims just for the sake of getting more options for tires & going for tubeless.
I feel tube-type will serve my need for now...
Should be good enough if you don't tour much...

While on the way back from Yelagiri a black CBz overtook us, after few kilometers this bike had crashed, the rider and pillion were lying on the road. Got to know that their bike got punctured and tahts how they fell. Just before that in Yelagiri i was arguing with my friend about having tubless, he was saying its useless and puncture costs 120 instead of 40bucks which is useless. He realised after watching those guys back skin ripped off.
I hope those guys were wearing proper gears. I'm definitely switching to tubeless after getting my first salary...

        • Yesterday, a weird thing happened to my 160...when i started my bike,it began it's usual self test & the needle kinda got hanged at redline rpm while the digital screen showed everything even when the key was removed. so i opened the battery cover & disconnected the wire with connectors next to battery & voila, the console was back to normal. So, is this something serious as i had just kept the bike in sun for sometime in college & i am also close to the first servicing & am going to give it to TVS SVC people soon.BTW what all changes/things need to be on first servicing including oil change, clutch tightening(my clutch seems to be little loose), air filter change, brake oil,etc PLUS can anyone recommend a good authorized TVS SVC in Pune ?

PS - the 2012 variants are tubeless ones right ?

Don't worry about the Tacho as long as it doesn't happen frequently.
Regarding the service, get all those things done that are mentioned in the manual's 'Maintenance Schedule'. BTW, you do not need to change air filter. You'd need to replace engine oil and oil filter. If you're talking about brake bleeding, then there's nothing to worry about it as early as first service as long as both the discs are working fine.
Also, yes. The 2012 160s have tubeless tyres.

                      • Hey guys, I had gone to SVC a few days back to get a couple of things done. The guys proved once again that "you cannot go to TVS SVC only once" I got the fork fluid and brake pads replaced. They did a decent job on the fork fluid. But ever since they changed the brake pads, the acceleration has gone down a bit as the front wheel is not rotating freely. Also, the brake's bite has gone down. The mech said that the pads are rubbing against the surface as they are new and it should be okay after a 100km. He is BSing me right?

                        • Had the same issue when I changed to RTR pads, press the brake lever gently so that the brakes are dragging and then crack open throttle and ride for a few kms.

What he said is true & he is not BSing I remember my front wheel was way too tight when I got the new pads, which became free in sometime. So chill, nothing to worry.

                              • Got a new set of tyres for my beast.. Got a Michelin Pilot Sporty 90/90 for the front & MRF Revz 120/80 for the rear..Now the ride quality is dam good, cornering is simply superb.. As mine is ABS,I had a doubt that a 120/80 would mess the ABS system BUT No tension what so ever,Actually the braking is even better now.. The 120/80 fits perfectly..But the speedo shows a faster speed..

Here are a few pics of the tyres..
