And would 120 be a direct fit for RTR 180? Another tyre which I saw recently was MRF Zapper Vyde, but I'm not sure if its a soft compound and if it would be a direct fit for RTR 180.

    Thank you,

Yes 120 would be a direct fit. One of the members on this thread, Adarsh Bk has been using the zapper vyde without any problem and is satisfied with what the tyre offers. You can read about it 3 pages ago..

        Thank you Abishek/Druvesh,

What would be the S rating? I'm seeing the P rated ones in Michelin India for Pilot Sporty findTyre - motorcycle.michelin.in

S rated tyres are tyres which can withstand speeds of up to 180kmph. And P rated tyres can withstand speeds up to 150kmph.

            Abhishek -

I think P Rated is sufficient.

Guys, I see you all are doing well. Very less complaints about beasts.

Anyways, I wanted to ask if anyone knows about the availability and pricing of ignition lock set and if the key for tank cap can also be changed with it. I don't want to carry around two different keys.

I lost my key yesterday and though I have spare key with me am concerned that someone might take my beast for a joy ride. Key was lost in close proximity to my hostel room and one of the perks of being a faculty member staying in a hostel full of students is that your lost stuff never get returned. I will wait for 2 days for the keys to be returned and if not I am considering changing the ignition assembly.

                Hi guys,
Just came back from TVS SVC, they said my bike's valves and rocker are fried.
They say it has been roughly handled.
But I completed the run in properly, didnt rev it or took it above 40 till 1200 kms.
I always got it serviced on time, I got it serviced after every 1500 kms. I dont rev it much in city I usually shift at 4 - 4.5k rpm and on highways at 5k rpm and occasionally at 6 but thats rare.
                I cruise between 70 - 80 kmph.
The max I have done is 400 kms round trip in a day and I always stop after every 30 - 40 kms give my bike and myself some rest then move on.

I had previously complained several time about the tappet/timing chain noise but they said its normal. My bike is just 9 months old and has done 8.5k kms till now.
Now my question is have I been too harsh on my RTR or the mechanics at svc are ignorant and dont service the bike properly?

                P.S - I own a RTR 160

Very sad to hear that, Anyways next thing you can do is to contact Area/Territory manager and speak with him about the incident (tell him about your riding style & past Tappet complaint, make sure you have Bills & service interval recepit to display)...Bike is just 9 month old so they may cover it under warranty if they found issue to be genuine or coz of improper care during servicing.

People who are suffering from Sponge Brake or Loose Brake follow this (No DIY ask SVC to do it for you)

                      1. Buy new Front & Rear Disc Pad - (500 rupees pair approx.)
                      2. Ask them to open the Complete Brake Disc assembely (not master cylinder but the disc pad & brake system attached to tyre).
                      3. Clean the each & every part of the system (wheel bearing, Disc rotor & Brake plate), clean each possible part. (Clean it with soft brush) but don't pour liquid or any oil over that just rub it with hand or brush till you see the golden/ silver color.
                      4. Clean the brake rubber attached to cylinder assly. (if possible replace it costs 30 rupees each).
                      5. Clean the piston very nicely by inserting finger with soft clothes or with ear cleaning budds.
                      6. Rub the polish paper (sand paper) over disc pad (front & back side of plate).
                      7. Assemble the whole system
                      .
                      8. Bleed your brake. (Using Air pressure Machine). _ (In Mech. Language - Ask them to remove the air bubble from hoax cable or master cylinder).
                      9. trying doing this 2-3 times if you still feel the lever play is much more then it should be actually (it should never come close to throttle, mine is less then half distance from throttle to standstill lever).
                      10. if play is still there ask to remove the lever & reduce the play between Brake Lever & foot pag. (applicable to rear brake only).

*For better brake first 7 point is must do.*

The Over all cost is around 850 rupees (with both disc pad replaced).

                        3. (Clean it with brush kind of things)

                        5. Clean the piston very nicely by inserting Pencil,Pen or Screw driver covered with soft cloths.
Not an expert, but please avoid the "how" part explained in these 2 points. Both points MUST be done, but with a soft brush/ rag cloth and the screwdriver thingy can be your finger. No matter you cover with any cloth, it can scratch the inner walls.

My bike has run 5.6k kilometers and looking at the front brake pads they'll last another 1300 km max.
When the brake pads are nearing its end of life there will be a little extra play at the brake lever than with new brake pads because of the pistons which move back a little when we release the brake lever right?? Or is it supposed to be the same throughout the life of the brake pads?? The play in my front brake lever is just a little more than half the distance between throttle and initial position. :what: should i change the brake pads now or wait for another 800+ km?

sorry to know that bro but i can imagine what happened , the problem is with the oil pump, the oil is not circulating accordingly so the head portion is busted and may be the sound of tappets/timing chain you were getting is for the increased friction , make sure to check the line thoroughly, the problem is there only for sure and bro its a pure bad luck if the same happened no one is responsible, just relax claim warranty & get it done
