Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
RTR 180 alloys should be okay. The current 160s(both new and old designs) are coming with same sized tubeless tyres as 180. So, both are same most probably. I'm also thinking of doing the same on my 160Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostBy the way is it okay to use RTR-180 17" rear alloys instead of 18" stock. The 18" alloys of RTR160 are Tube-Type rims & I wanna shift to TL tires.Im thinking if I change to 17" will it effect the ergonomics or handling of the bike.I heard the old setup of 17"+18"(front+rear) are more good than the current 17"+17" inch setup when it comes to handling. Any truth in it??

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi guys,
I went for a test ride of Apache today. It was RTR160 and liked the feel. I am 5 ft 10" and found it ok for me.
I had gone to ride RTR180 but he had only RTR160 for Test drive.
Can you please clarify how much mileage you get on a 180. How much does the extra 20cc matter in city riding? And my friend said, no need to spend 11k just for ABS until you drive on high speeds.~Accelerate Fast ! Brake Faster~

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Mileage with sane riding would be about 45-47. If you shift gears at around 8k rpm consistently then it drops to 40 +/-2.Originally posted by prathappa View PostHi guys,

Personally I am getting a mileage of 43 at the moment and I shift gears anywhere between 5-7k rpm. I'm happy with this figure
I have hardly ridden the 160 rtr so can't comment on it but one of my friend who owns the 160rtr, rode my 180rtr and said that it actually feels more powerful and has higher torque than the 160.
And I suggest you go with the abs version. Because even when Ur going at 60kmph on a wet/gravel road you might have to brake abruptly which may cause Ur tyres to lock and you may loose control leading to a fall. Abs is a lifesaver in such situations. So there's nothing like abs is usefull only if ur speeding.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I have no idea how you are getting 43 kmpl on 180cc because my frnd has 160cc and he gets only 40 kmpl. And 11k Rs for ABS, I dont think I will go for it. 99.9% people owning a bike don't have ABS. So I will drop the plan of ABSOriginally posted by Abishek94 View PostMileage with sane riding would be about 45-47. If you shift gears at around 8k rpm consistently then it drops to 40 +/-2.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My sincere advice, If you can afford don't miss the ABS because 99.9% skid & fall accidents happens due to lack of ABS. It is a safety device just like your riding gear.Originally posted by prathappa View PostI have no idea how you are getting 43 kmpl on 180cc because my frnd has 160cc and he gets only 40 kmpl. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Don't worry mate. I too have an 180 and I get the mileage around 47-49.
Your driving method matters. If you need mileage just go thru 4-5k rpm.
And you can definitely get the mileage.
My friend who owns a 160 also told the same like you. He drove my vehicle for Ten days and found the difference.
And for ABS, its your wish.

During the run-in phase I got 51kmplOriginally posted by prathappa View PostI have no idea how you are getting 43 kmpl on 180cc because my frnd has 160cc and he gets only 40 kmpl. because the gear shifts were most of the time at 4k rpm along with gentle acceleration and engine braking to slow down.
From then on I'm getting a constant 42-43kmpl.
Edit: with the hard compound tvs tyres which comes with the bike and does not grip the road as much as soft compound tyres, abs becomes even more important.

So you people have ABS version? Or you have changed to soft-compound tyres?Originally posted by Abishek94 View PostDuring the run-in phase I got 51kmpl

For now I am more inclined towards 160 because my father asking not to stretch beyond 150cc bikes, also color combinations are better in RTR160~Accelerate Fast ! Brake Faster~

Soft compound tyres is in no way a substitute for abs.Originally posted by prathappa View PostSo you people have ABS version? Or you have changed to soft-compound tyres?

You can lock Ur wheels while braking even with soft compound tyres.
I have changed only the front tyre to Michelin pilot sporty
No I don't have the abs version.
And personally I feel the 160 racing white does look really good.
Final choice is upto you

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
ABS or NO ABS.. The compound of the tyres have a major effect on braking, regardless of 2 wheels or 4.. During wet conditions the treads pattern matters the most & compound of tyres does not matter much.. In fact ,"soft" rubber is not used for "wet"..Originally posted by prathappa View PostSo you people have ABS version? Or you have changed to soft-compound tyres?
I have ABS & had TVS tyres, many time I felt that I'm getting more tyre squealing rather than deceleration..
Dude, 40 kmpl for 160..?? Something is wrong with the bike or he has a very bad riding habit(s)..Originally posted by prathappa View PostI have no idea how you are getting 43 kmpl on 180cc because my frnd has 160cc and he gets only 40 kmpl. I get 42kmpl in city, shifting at 6000-6500 rpm.. & a constant 44.xx kmpl riding at 98-105 kmph..
