One more reason added for the same.

P.S - How was the ride to Kendatti today?

Hello Apache Indians,
I have my eyes set on a new RTR 180. To all you riders, is the additional 10k for the ABS a game changer? Because bikes like D200 and P200NS do perfectly well without the safety feature. I'm a decently good braker (an okayish panic braker too!) so I don't want to pamper myself with ABS for now. I know the stock tyres do not show much promise (will change them after 7.5k kms or so) but is ABS really necessary or can the average biker live without it?
Thanks!
P.S: Sorry for the miserable pun.

@Shantnu : First get the front fork checked for any bent, and after that go aloy check.

@adityajohanan : Have you gone through FZ16 Powerhouse Thread, if not please go through it, and please dont just read the first few pages. Read what happened after hot-rodding.
If you dont want to read it, as a RTR owner all I could ask is, please stay away from those mechanics and "dabba" exhausts if you really want your bike in good health.

@Venkata Varadhan : If you have non-drl RTR (old one) then its better you get your AC to DC conversion or else the battery would die in months. If its the new RTR then I guess there is some issues with wiring.

@Chetas Das : Wont you like if you get additional feature in nominal amount. I personally is in support of ABS, it is a life saver in times, and please dont have all the confidence on yourself. Humans also make mistakes.

And there is no doubt RTR has one of the best sounding exhaust in Indian bike till date.
Hehe. And CBR sounds like a mixture grinder. :P
speaking about the exhaust note, no bike sounds better than RTR, other than Ninja(not including RE ofcourse).

And ever noticed that hot-rodding comes with their share of issues and problems??
I feel stock is best, want more power then save and upgrade.

Rest your wish, its your bike after all. We all can just guide you.

prateek2210 Bhai, didn't mean to come across as cocky or anything. Sorry
But my dad wants me to buy a commuter only and after much convincing he's considering the RTR as I want to do a fair share of touring on it as well (I'll have to ride to Pune or Bangalore depending on where I get posted for training)! I'll have to step up my convincing game if the ABS is a really dire necessity. Isiliye aapko pucha. Will post what I got after the imminent purchase. Thank you!

I got my RTR's engine oil changed yesterday to shell advance ax7.
The bike is running much more smooth now and is performing better.
The stock oil seemed fine for the first few thousand kms but after that the bike used to run rough, it used to heat up a lot and the oil never lasted more than 1.5k kms.
Glad I changed to shell, thanks to everyone who suggested the oil.

I too changed my engine oil to valvoline synthetic.. It's much more smoother.

My 180 is going for its second free service next month.. Can anyone tell if it is useful to use shell oils for my rtr180, even though it is going for its second service only?

It was 5k+ when I checked few months back. And I think all 180s have same exhaust, no generation in that.

You can go for Shell AX7. Many use that on RTR and are happy.
