Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
As far as my experience tells the vibrations will be there but you can minimize them by adjusting the tappet..i dont know what exactly it is called...more over vibrations tend to happen in a particular range of speed only,,mostly in the upper 60 km/hr plus speeds.Originally posted by kksin123 View Posttoday went for a test drive on apache rtr 180 new model.. can feel vibrations right from the start of the engine ..took a 2km ride solo and can feel vibrations throughout..
handling and pick up was good...the salesperson said since it is atest drive model u feel vibrations throughout..is it true?
I wanted black color in rtr180abs model.. but they said only white available in abs model. is it so..?
kindly reply i wantot boook this week. OTR 86K chennai
But I can tell you one thing,,the pickup and power this mean machine has will never make you realize the vibrations..Best of luck

Go for semi-synthetic Shell AX7 10w40 grade. Have been using it for more than one year with regular drain period between 2000~2500km.Originally posted by Rahul.g View PostHey guys,

Have gone many long trips on the same. The price is 347/-rs to be precise. When u change oil dont forget to change oil filter.
Its a gem of an oil. Actually the real characteristics of the oil will be exhibited once u near 50km in ur odo after the oil change.
As mentioned above go for Shell-AX7 semi-synthetic. Fully synthetic might drop level after some long rides as reported by some users. So better stick with semi-synthetic.Originally posted by sujithbvm View PostHello everyone,
I am from Bangalore and I have a Apache RTR 180 which has completed 23000 kms
I m currently using Shell Semi synthetic oil, but now sudddely there are so many models of the shell oil, i got confused like which one should i go for.
Could you please tell me the exact name of the oil and should i shift to full synthetic as my bike has covered 23000 kms.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance
@kksin123 When I checked in Google it mentions availability of black-apache ABS. Maybe stocks are not there with the dealer you inquired. Try some other dealer.Originally posted by kksin123 View Posttoday went for a test drive on apache rtr 180 new model.. can feel vibrations right from the start of the engine ..took a 2km ride solo and can feel vibrations throughout..

Well regarding vibrations it will be there between 4k to 5.2k rpm that means from 55kmph to 70kmph.
After that its more smooth. The vibrations are more for the pillion rider for higher speeds of 110+kmph.
Also vibrations are reduced to an extend when you use good oils like Shell AX7.
Btw @Adarsh_Bk, could you reply regarding that OSRAM distributor shop address.
In google maps I saw one nearby HAL road Opposite Manipal Hospital beside Thomson Reuters company.
Is that the place where you bought it??Last edited by susheelkumar; 08-28-2013, 03:49 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

if we take xWz as grade like my case 10w40.
The lesser the x value, the better it supports in cold conditions. The more the z value, the better it supports in hot & long trip conditions.
As I stay in bangalore, you know the winters are bit cold & I do go for long trips & ride in city conditions so the chances are there my engine might get heated up fast if i go for low grades like TVS oil 10w30. Instead when I go for 10w40 Shell AX7 its much better in hot conditions & wont let your engine heated up that fast.
There are 10w50 grades but those are available in fully synthetic options only.
Now 20w40 will help you city riding & long trips. But there is chance of cold start & engine not getting heated up to optimum level fast in early morning rides.
Regarding stickers you can get it from JC road, bangalore.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Ohk. I asked Service Center guys in Cox Town whether its possible. He said it is but they dont have that part as of now. I will ask again. Hopefully it is possibleOriginally posted by susheelkumar View PostAFAIK you cant. That's what atleast the SVC guyz will say.
Anyway try your luck.
I dont know about RTR-180, but in RTR-160 front tire is 25psi & rear tire is 28psi for single riding. For doubles maintain 32psi in back.
These details will be mentioned in your vehicle catalog.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
@kksin123
See RTR has vibs which can be controlled upto a limit (I guess), but as people said it has good enough pickup and power in this class. And about your Test ride. Obviously your new bike will be much smoother than one you rode in Test ride. I test rode a CBR 250R which has some engine noise because it has been used for Test Ride over 30K times with bad handling and a 2011 model. And the bike which I got is absolutely without any trouble..
Decide your mind and buy the BEAST for yourself if you really want to own the bike.
In addition to this. 6 months back or so I was in same kind of dilemma whether to buy RTR or not. As I love full fairing took some time and save more money and went for CBR. But still RTR is best in its class. No doubt in that bro. Go for it !Last edited by hypheni; 08-28-2013, 06:01 PM.

That Osram store I bought the bulb from is here (Map link). It is a small store in a corner, follow the map exactly and you will reach there, the store name is VK Marketing, you can ask people around if you cant find it. The store is more of wholesale dealing place than retails.
I dont know about the one you mentioned, if he has the same 35W Night Racer Plus then you can get it, but be sure the cover looks like how it is in the pic I posted previously because there could be fakes too.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello guys, my bike is due for service by next week. I wanted to know if I could switch back to stock TVS mineral oil from currently running on Motul SS oil. I'm pretty tight on my expenses so I wanted to know if downgrading to mineral oil for sometime is alright.
Thanks.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Can a 51K kms RTR 180, all stock engine do 1500 kms?? Thinking of getting my bike to Bangalore from Cuttack.....
Inputs needed. Though engine shows no signs of wear and tear, but a bit concerned. What precautions should I take? BTW never rode more than 500 KMS a day. So need 2 days to do the ride.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

If engine seems fine & there no extra vibrations or weird behaviour of bike & if the engine oil is good then you can simply ride down to Blore. Do keep a spare set of accelerator & clutch cables, spark plug, chain lube & top up can of engine oil in case you observe oil level drop. One of my friend frequently tours on his RTR160 which has 50k on ODO, so there should not be any issues.
Do ride down to Blore bro & lets try to meet in one of the G2Gs
.. Ride safe..
