  • Re: TVS Apache RTR 180

    Yipee
    Its her second birthday
Gifted her a liter synthetic oil and the new gear shifter.
The bike's lot smoother at high speeds, shifts are buttery smooth.
But havinng false neutrals sometimes.what could be the reason.is it synthetic oil.
Any comments on the new tyre which tvs is providing on new apaches.

    Happy riding ;-)

Ok guys I have tried most of the petrol pumps in my area and have found HP and Essar to be the better one's .
Essar reduces the vibrations considerably , I don't know how but it does .

I have ridden the new TVS tires, but only on dry surface, so cannot comment about wet grip. But dry grip was good. Some new RTR owner can help here. I would say go for the MRF tire(Dazzler based), which was considerably better.
I dont think you need to change the foot peg. Just get it tightened. Even if you do change, wont cost you much.

If the electricals are AC like the old models then go for Osram Night racer 35W. (http://www.*********/shopping/osram-...racer-plus-100). IN JC road (Bangalore) there is one OSRAM distributor(VK Marketing), poc is Venkatesh (9845162688).

If DC(like the ABS ones), then you can try 50W ones. Else completely DC'fy your bike which will void all the warranty.
              Choice is yours.

Friends... Is it possible to convert an Apache 160 2014 model to 180cc by changing the cylinder head and its relevant parts. If possible then which parts and parts model should i purchase. Please explain in details. Thanks for the help.

It is not possible to convert 160 into 180 just by changing the cylinder head as the difference between the two is the stroke length and not the bore. The bore size is almost the same (0.5mm difference) but the stroke length is what has increased.
Consequently, you will have to change the crankshaft, connecting rod, crank case (as the position of crankshaft would have changed due to longer stroke) and a whole lot of other parts.
It is better you stick to 160

i had given the new oil a try this time changing from her usual diet of Motul 5100.
new oil seems to be a lot better than the old tru4. problems i have faced till now is that after the engine running continuously for a long time, the oil seems to slightly loose it's viscosity (gear shifts become a bit more noticeable) but after a quite elaborate break (to cool the engine) it goes back to the same.. smoother shifts. its now +1.5k on odo with the new oil. and a total of somewhere around shy of 40k on odo.

Is there any oil leakage from the engine head while using this tvs fully synthetic oil?

How much does the motul 5100 cost? and what grade is it? Do you recommend motul 5100 over shell ax7?
Btw, the rear number plate looks like its floating in mid air in the pic you posted :P
