Yes the oil is available, and i am using it on my RTR 160. Not sure about the performance as i have driven the bike for just 2 days after using this oil. The cost is same rs 525/- which is pretty cheap for a fully synthetic oil. By the way do i have to check for the oil drops for every week, as the oil is FS.

In case of an FS you would find oil drops only after 700 kms or so ! but only few users find this problem , i think TVS would have manufactured this oil with that in mind only , Anyway do check for oil drops every hundred kilometers and do give a review on the oil.Originally posted by hemnath View PostYes the oil is available, and i am using it on my RTR 160. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi all,
From last 1 month i am facing issues with my apache rtr 160's front brake.
Apply brakes, sometimes the bike stops suddenly, sooner than you expect and sometimes it takes way longer than you expect.
Mostly the brake lever has to be pressed with too much force to stop the bike. the feel is no longer the way it was when the bike was new.
My bike is 10k km old.
Please let me know what can cause this issue and what needs to be done.
Thanks

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Check the brake pads condition, if worn out, change it. If the brake pads are fine, bleed the brakes.Originally posted by shanky442 View PostHi all,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I have always been on TVS TRu4 semi synthetic oil and this was the first time i switched to a different that too a fully synthetic oil from TVS itself. I have driven around 300kms with this oil, and will share my views on it.Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostIn case of an FS you would find oil drops only after 700 kms or so ! but only few users find this problem , i think TVS would have manufactured this oil with that in mind only , Anyway do check for oil drops every hundred kilometers and do give a review on the oil.
First thing Only few people know that such oils exists from TVS, and i have checked with my SVC, that such oil exist they said it is there and it cost Rs 525, as the regular TVS oils was rs 280/- and TVS should promote this oil more to the customers as it a great value for money.
The oil is much better than semi-synthetic oil, as i have noticed the bike revs freely and it responses quicker in all rpm's, previously i had issues that bike doesn't respond well at low rpm, and really. The vibes are really reduced (not sure this is because of this oil).
Gear shifting also has improved, and i find it much easier than before. Engine gets heated a lot more than in the Semi-synthetic as i am aware that FS oil's tends to make the engine hot, but during long you don't feel the heat anymore.
I am yet to check the oil level, will keep you posted on that.Last edited by hemnath; 04-29-2015, 05:01 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Dude, never faced such issue, but could you just inform, how it got resolved? I think it might just be matter of one nut in the chain. a good mech can mend it.Originally posted by pcgamer View PostHey guys,
Today morning while going to office my ride started to make noise suddenly. The noise was as if two surfaces were rubbing. I got down and checked and was shocked to see that it was due to the bolt type thing of the chain link that was coming out and it was rubbing against the chain guard. If I hadn't noticed it, it'd have come out completely and the chain would have got cut in a while. Luckily, I was near my office and was riding around 20 km/h. If it had happened when I was doing 50+ km/h and the chain had got cut, I don't know in what state I would have been by now.
While coming back, I went to Arunagiri TVS. The idiots made me wait for 45 minutes and then told me that they can't do it and that I'd have to leave my bike there and collect it tomorrow as they were closing down for the day. I was seriously infuriated but controlled my anger as I still had more than 15km to travel with an almost broken chain
I managed to ride back home at 25 km/h for around 23 km by stopping every 2km and hammering that thing back into place with the spanner provided in the toolkit.
All this happened on a chain that was changed only 2500km/2.5 months back. I was lubing the chain every weekend/250 km. It was being tightened to around 3cm of freeplay whenever it got loose. My earlier chain, with all thrashing and zero maintenance(cleaning, lubing and tightening done only during service) lasted 15k km and still had life when I changed it. I was really surprised to see this happen. More than surprise, I was shocked and afraid.
Anyway, what I'd like to know is, does the chain and sprocket set come under warranty coverage since it was changed only 2500km back? I still have the bill with me. I'm going to take it to the SVC tomorrow. So, would appreciate if anyone can provide me info regarding the warranty.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
The issue is nothing but the brake lever needing lubrication. A spray of WD40 where the lever pivots around the bolt should solve the issue. A longer lasting and more correct solution is to remove the bolt and lever, clean both thouroughly, also clean the inside of the 'boss' where the lever fits, then lubricate the friction surfaces with grease, don't use too much or it will attract more grime and worsen the problem.Originally posted by shanky442 View PostHi all,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Disc wont worn out that fast. Maybe he meant the pads. Also make sure you dont run with completely worn pads which on the long run will damage the discs. Also check if the surface of the disc is uniform or not. I mean it should not be too much thin towards the center where the pads work out & wide towards the edges. This indicates that the disc are not uniform & chances are you have ran with completely worn out pads for long time. My guess is, the issue will be resolved with a proper brake bleeding & lever cleaning. Take to svc and get it done.Originally posted by shanky442 View PostI had shown it to a local mechanic and he told me to replace the discs. Can you please tell me, how long a disc life is. My bike has rum 10k kms and the disc looks fine to me.
Thanks
I too had a similar issue where the SVC did the bleeding and whatever julianpaul suggested. That resolved the issue for me.Last edited by susheelkumar; 08-20-2014, 06:40 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Sorry. Forgot to update. I took it to the SVC where I had got it replaced earlier(Bridgestone TVS) and they replaced the entire chain under warranty since it was only about 2500km old.Originally posted by sambit View PostDude, never faced such issue, but could you just inform, how it got resolved? Cant say about Bajaj, But Honda- Definitely NO. They wont even accept it the next day. They would blame you for everything. And changing a wearable part after 2.5 Months is Amazing.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostGreat...You wont be that lucky if you were riding a Bajaj/Honda 2 wheeler!!HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3
