1. I was doing this speed test out of curiosity of the top end I can reach on a empty stretch of highway and I was wearing a helmet only and I am sorry for doing this test without proper gear but I was curious as I have never done these speeds before.

And forgive me for the noob question but does the rear wobbles due to misalignment in front forks at high speeds ?
Sorry but rear was not mentioned. Rear wobble can happen due to tyre misalignment, bald tyres, ageing rear shocks.

Thanks, the rear has plenty of treads left so I will check for both misalignment and the rear shocks tomorrow.

shadowfox said it vibrates above 120 kph. My bike used to reach only 118 kph max(with 160kg) but yest i went on same road and max speed i could achieve was only 116. Does stock Apache 160 really go above 120.
sambit, I dont know, sometimes the air pressure decreases by 5 psi in 5 days and sometimes it decrease only by 2 psi. Its very uneven, so I am just continuing, didnt go to the SVC.

Top end has many deciding factors.
1. Weight of the bike (petrol+bike+rider+pillion_if Any)
2. Wind resistance. (Cross winds reduce the speed)
3. Elevation of road
4. To get better top end make sure you shift from 4th to 5th gear only once you cross 100. In short make sure you shift gears atleast 5k or above in lower gears till 4th. It should be steady acceleration. A slight blip in acceleration in between kills the momentum badly.
5. Tire pressure, its tread condition & its weight (If higher spec than stock it will effect acceleration & time taken to reach top end)
6. Your sitting posture. Make sure you crouch on the petrol tank so that there is minimum wind resistance.
7. Carb diaphragm & TPS condition. MAke sure you try this after a service so that bike is in its best condition.
8. Oil degradation level. A new oil works wonders.
9. Spark plug condition & perfectly lubed optimum tight chain.
10. Bike should be in optimum temperature. Neither too hot or cold.

I have hit 139 in speedo console on my RTR-160. The after market I use is NGK iridium spark plug & Shell AX7 oil. Rest all its pure stock engine and no specific highway tuning done. So if you consider 10% error in digital speedo console which is average in all digital speedo meters, so my speed is somewhere around 125km/hr which is not bad at all.
With pillion rider the max I attained is 126km/hr. And yes post 100 it vibrates more for the pillion. Atleast I didnt feel that much or didnt care to feel while riding at such high speed.

Hi all Apachians, i owe Apache ABS. Yesterday it wws raining and I applied front break with around 10kmph speed with front tyre having turned at right hand side. My ABS was on bit still tyre got slipped. Is this situation normal or shoul I do something about it because with ABS ON, tyre should not get locked. Another thing is I just gabe my bike today for first free service and svc person has changed me 400 rs for oil and oil filter change. Is this amount ok?

Hi Ishan, for the free service they will charge you for the consumables like oil, filters, brake pads etc. Only the labour is free, 400 seems fine. I think the ABS is not triggered under the speeds of 10kmph. Ride safe.

HI all, my rtr 160 which is around 2 years old, the rear suspension is leaking oil, and the suspension became stiff. Is replacing the suspension is only option, i have researched through internet, since our rear suspension in gas filled, filling the gas in the shocks will help it, is it true. I have asked this question before but no-one has replied.

My 180 had the same problem, back right side shock was leaking, after consulting three service centers, i decided to change both of them,

Hello people i own a RTR 180 which is 2mnths old and i have had an old model RTR 180 for four years. Unfortunately my new Apache has been giving me problems.
To Start with
1 the engine head leaks ( when checked it was found that the company had not applied the sealing glue from the factory)
2 The front forks were making noise and realized that the oil level was less by 20 ml in each Fork
3 the bike just wouldn't start in one self except if you give and accelerator.
4 The mileage is horrible ( my earlier bike gave me 45to 47 kms and i am a guy who rides at 4k rpm)
5 Jerks
6 Mist seems to develop on the Daytime running lights when it rains
The company guys have attended to the issue and i have suffered alot and still the issues havent been solved
1 The bikes head was opened and applied glue but there is still leakage
2 front fork changed twice but still there is noise ( worst part is the forks that were tested and sent from Hosur were making tick tick sound Means it had piston issues)
3 They say there is consistancy in the way ones bike starts by bike sometimes wont start sometimes it will start but engine rpm is low then it just goes up.
4 Mileage still sucks
5 Jerks increased
Well in all i have been unlucky and even if i have got the so called support from the company its not been fruitful. Worst thing is that when a senior relies on his junior to do the work and it has been done but still the issue is not resolved. I have taken the Matter to Mr Srinivasan ( Vice president) personally had a word with him Seems like his people are trying to say they have done it all for me and he is not looking too positive to help me.
My final way to get justice would be going to a consumer court and filing a case. I have been in love with the company and the bike but looks like its time to say good by and It actually makes me wonder if ever an Indian consumer will get quality from any companies that exist.

ABS won't work the way we expect it to work. When the tire is turned to a side, or if you are leaned against a corner ABS won't work well as expected. Only if you are going up straight will it kick in effectively.

IMO Once the bike reaches 10 kph after starting the ABS is initiated and it will work even if you slow down later. I have had experience in this regard.

For front go for r15 v2 front tyre.
For you can go for r15 v1 rear tyre..But know that it is thinner than stock rtr tyre and won't last long due to soft rubber compound. Also this will result in shorter gearing as it is more low profile than stock.Weight will be reduced and slight improvement in mileage if you change the front sprocket to a bigger one to make gearing taller.

Suggest a good battery for RTR 180 2009 model with cost.Currently using exide.Anyone know warranty period of exide battery?
How is stock TVS batt? Also share the cost details too.Thanks.

Get the Amaron Pro Bike Rider maintenance free battery. Comes with 24+24 months warranty. Not sure about the Exide's warranty.

Amaron looks the best so far, specially with four year warranty, nothing beats that! Last time I checked excide warranty, it was only a year. But that was a while ago, things might have changed.

In my humble opinion (and I am not trying to push my opinion on anyone) Apache's ABS is junk. Actually all ABS (specially the "cheapo" type) on the Desi bikes is junk. If a driver can manage without ABS, its a big plus to his skill.

Again, just my opinion. Don't hate me for sharing it
