There are three possibilities:Originally posted by bhadoriabtp View Posti myself check oil level all the time. i use to top-up oil to keep proper oil level.i am using my bike in hot area where in summer temp. goes up to 47 degree.should i wait up to winter to see difference in engine working. thanks for your value able advise.
1. An engine oil change might solve. Being in a hot place I would suggest to change oil every 2.5k & please dont use TVS oil. Make use of semi-synthetic oil with grades 10w40.
2. Chance of Oil leaking. Could you spot anything like that on the engine? But chances are less as you said you are checking level regularly. Whats the color of the oil while you check? I hope its not pitch dark.
3. Your pistons might have gone. Its time for a major engine over-haul. Lets pray thats not the case. But 40k is too less time unless you ride your bike insanely.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello Apachiens, I got my Beast (180 ABS- White) on 21st June 2014 but still haven't got the user manual. SVC person told me that he will give all documents aftert registration is complated. I want to know about engine running in process. for how many kilometers and at what speed and RPM I should ride my bike? After how many kilometers I should go for my first service? should I stick to TVS engine oil or replace it with motulee or shell, if yes then which? Please guide me before I damage my beautiful beast. At present ODO is howing around 200kms and I have been riding it at 40kmph speed below 4k RPM.

Maintain below 5k rpm and dont always ride in same rpm for long time. Vary it sanely & not aggresively. If you are riding in city traffic, then need not worry as you are already doing the same.
1k km or 1 month (whichever comes first) is the first free service.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
For now, I suggest as mentioned above and alongside...get this serviced between 750 to 1000.. And don't opt.forchange at least till 5 services.. Though many people claim to change the oil from shell out motul, it isn't good in terms of many reasons.. Be it for tuning efficiency or for track records.. Stick to tvs as millions other do and then look for options.. Starting from shell ax7 which has given good results..Originally posted by susheelkumar View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
That is what my mechanic is mentioning now :\ , but do enlighten me ! the connecting rod noise if there should come even on a cold engine right ? i don't seem to hear any noise when the engine is cold ,only when the engine gets hot after a 10 km ride it seems to appear . Do correct me if Iam wrong.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostFirst of all give your mechanic a good kick at his back, he has already messed the enginem the play in the connecting rod will eventually get more, changing only connecting rod will do more harm as the piston is already set according to this play, so just keep riding and whenever next you go for engine rebuild, change the complete crankshaft assembly. The North Eastern Sojourn- wanderlust diary-7000 Kilometers|| Sikkim || Bhutan

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi guys, been a but busy for last couple of weeks.
anyhow me and my ride had our 2nd anniversary last day and coincidentally she had her magic number of 30000km on odo the same day

To celebrate this and also to fulfill a long kept dream, i decided to get myself a Free flow exhaust for her.
since i didnt have a big budget and didnt plan to keep the ffe for long, i decided to take a look at those local so called "exhausts" (yes i was being a complete moron)
then after some thought i decided i should check
out for a used RC exhaust or something (which i didn obviously get even after searching a lot)
finally i managed to run into a thread with a video by bachoo motors. an rtr 180 with an italian full system , boy i was in love. i set off to a friends shop which deals in stuffs from bachoo motors.
i was offered three kinds of exhausts systems from that brand. all of them were slipons and since they didnt have the pipes for the RTR now , i had to decide between the three and get it fixed on a modified stock pipe.
so the options were
1) GP CORSA
2) GP CORSA carbon
3) COBRA
yea they all came from the house of Leo Vince
so i didnt quite like the look of both corsas so then went ahead and got this

hope to get it fixed this week. with proper jetting and hopefully a better intake, currently on the GS150R paper filter (strictly
no to k&n) cant wait though. having this in the cupboard and the ride sitting in the garage is making me all pumped up

vishnu.leo : I hope you know Leo Vince never made exhausts specifically for rtr? Unlike there exhausts for other bikes available here.
I will keep my fingers crossed for your bike's engine.

if im right a year back or so. Shahbaz63 had mentioned the very same matter i think. about leo Vince's and "jugaad", that made me search for the topic "rtr leo vince" presto youtube link popped up.
anyhow the one i got is the standard version which is basically the slip on without the bend feeder nor the mid pipe. as per the specifications it suits the bikes up to 250cc and the end can remains the same in all of the complete packages (full system) whereas the pipes change to OEM. specifications
and about the extent of damage, im pretty much hopeful that it doesn't cause any. which im quite sure of cause i do know a couple of guys who use so called "local diff" (local made end cans with a narrower pipe) running without any noticeable damage for last couple of years. i just hope this wouldn't cause even a fraction of whatever damage those engines are having internally *fingers crossed

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
problems of not having a globally popular brand
just wish they could have brought in a custom specific made one here.
yea i know there are RC exhausts and all but still
anyhow i plan to think this as an investment
a sly fox attitude .. i could reuse this same slipon on my next upgrade if that falls within the quarter liter segment

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
The rear break oil is leaking from somewhere. I am not able to find. It was totally empty yesterday and the rear break stopped functioning(leaver was making free movement).
Filled it up today, bleeding done, but no sign of leakage. Any idea, what could be the reason?? What are the other ways of break oil draining instantly?HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Have you thoroughly checked the hose of brake fluid, particularly the clamps which hold the brake hose, also check the blowed out wheel brake cylinder, sometimes the seal inside the cylinder just gives away.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Well my opinion is simple & plan, No modification ...
- But I dont see an issue with L.V to RTR for Vishnu, as he is quite good in managing his bike (yes with expensive parts).
But I remember Pratik still went with aftermarket RC exhaust & later removed it.

Yes, its only after my experience with RC , I went all stock and thats when I wrote to stay away from any mods. But as said, vishnu knows what could happen and is ok with it , I am all coolOriginally posted by shahbaz63 View PostBut I remember Pratik still went with aftermarket RC exhaust & later removed it.
