Easiest way to cut the cap: Heat a knife over a flame until it's very hot then just pass it through the plastic cap while cutting out the required diameter.
Also make sure this particular part is available at your nearest svc incase it doesn't work/something goes wrong.

Hi. I bought my Apache RTR 180 a couple of month ago. Since day 1 i was facing issue with the handlebar. It was wobbling a lot in speeds excess of 60kmph as well as the bike was having bubbling issues.. I got the forks, cone set and the stay changed. Thereafter the bubbling issue was gone. It would have been due to improper dampening of the shocks. But the wobbling problem still prevails and it is making me go crazy. It is so intense that i fear of falling at higher speeds especially while deceleration. Has someone faced the same problem? Is there any solution for it?

Sometimes the sidewalls of tubeless tyres don't sit right into the groove of the rim and this causes wheel wobbling. Solution is just to remove the tyre from the rim and refit it properly. Any tyre shop or puncture repair guy should be able to do it, give it a shot and see if your problem goes away

            Hi All,

I am planning to change my headlight to HID. I own A180 ABS version.

            1. Can I go for any 35W HID or ABS needs a special kind?
            2. Do anyone have a specific brand to recommend? My budget is 3K.
            3. Am I void bike electrical warranty or something? My bike is 1 year old.
            4. Any other thing to take care of?

            Bangalore Folks,

            1. I am planning to go "MotoCross" on A.M road (J.C road). Will "MotoCross" do the fitting as well or do I have to take this to any mechanic?
            2. Do you have any better suggestions to get it done (over MotoCross)? I opt MotoCross because I see it mentioned here and there in this forum.

            Regards,
            Anand

              Update on the airfilter -
A friend of mine had a gs150r's airfilter with him so i thought of giving it a try, there was no puttering throughout the rev range but the power became low. In short not much air was passing through it and maybe this would do good on a stock RTR 160
I, then installed the stock filter and i made the intake hole on the upper cover larger by cutting it.
Now the bike pulls freely at any rpm throughout the rev range and power has increased throughout the rev range specially at top end

Yes. You will void the warranty of your bike.
                Small update.
I poured in the shell ax7 in my 180. My tvs oil lasted for about 1800kms with the last 200 km in insane riding situations. I mean 2 up & doing 90+. If i would not have gone for a ride it would have easily lasted 2000+ kms. Before the ride it was very much smooth with crisp gear changes. After the ripping the gearshifts became extremly hard. I then poured in the ax7. This is my experience so far

                Some problems.

1-Early morning you need 2-3 kick starts & then the rpm lies around 1000. With tvs oil the bike used to start with just 1 kick & then it used to hover around 1300rpm.
2- I could easily ride at 18kph in 3rd gear with tvs oil but now with the ax7 it feels like i am lugging the engine.
3- There are popping sounds when you ease the throttle after you accelerate. ( I love these sounds by the way. Makes me feel like i own a triumph . Haha..).
4- I am not sure but i think my engine runs hotter now. After a 20km ride the engine is a bit hot in comparison to the tvs oil.

                Positives
1- The vibrations have reduced a bit. Below 60kph it behaves like the tvs oil but after that speed its a lot better.
2- Acceleration has increased a bit too.
3- The exhaust note has a bit more bass in it ( i love it now haha )

I will use the ax7 for about 2500km as my monthly running is <500kms. I am not overly elated with the ax7. Its ok as of now. I will look for improvements over its 2500 run. I may use another round of ax7 too after this lets see.
                Thanx.

I have covered almost 1k kms after i filled ax7 and i do feel the engine runs hotter too!
I'm planning to fill shell ultra fs next time!

Some members in the forum feel that ax7 needs some time to adjust a bike...make sure that you buy ax7 from shell petrol bunk...as we have limited option with 10w40 grade in Indian market.I think only veedol has 10w40 grade oil apart from shell in ss oil.

I have been using ax7 for almost 30k km now (except for the last oil change) and based on my experience, the oil performs best when it is about 600km old till about 1700km old.. After which performance of the oil slowly begins to taper off. I change oil normally after 2500km though the oil can be run for another 300-400km.

Brief review about shell rimula r4 engine oil (HDEO) :

-costs about 320-350 per litre depending on where you source it from.

-Its a 15w40 grade mineral oil, so takes a bit more time to circulate during cold starts. So I start and idle the bike for 30 seconds more than what I used to do while using ax7 (10w40).

-Overall the bike is a bit more rough especially in the higher rpm range. May be because its a mineral oil.

-Gearshifts are a just a bit more smoother than with ax7 oil.

-Completed about 1300kms on this oil and looks like it'll last another 500km of sane riding. So about 1600-1700km is life of this oil which includes 60-70% highway riding.

-the popping sound while deceleration is present in this oil too just like the ax7 :P

-I did not observe the engine to run cooler as such, or maybe the difference is too small to observe.

Next oil change coming up soon and I will be back to ax7

Do the carbs need regular adjustment ?? I have not touched it since the bike came out of the showroom.

I think the bike needs more time to get jolly with new oil. I hardly use my bike. 15-20km every 3 days as such.

Depends how we define regular here. But yes, carbs require periodic adjustment. But all these symptoms; starting issues, engine performance and temperature, popping noises etc. all point to AFR tune. There may be a bit of spark plug involved, but almost nothing to do with oil. Engine oil may make the engine seem to run marginally 'smooth' but it's mostly your imagination. Any 'difference' between tvs oils and XYZ brand oil has probably to do with the time elapsed, hence the state of tune change, maybe changed climatic conditions. People need to stop obsessing about engine oil, just get a good branded oil, change it regularly, but make sure your bike is in proper tune otherwise. Engine oil is not magic snake oil which affects all these vehicle parameters.

                                Thanx for that.
No offence but I tend to disagree with the "smoothness" part you mentioned. The factors affecting the refinement of a bike are a lot. But engine oil holds a much wider chunk of it. Maybe all of the factors hold 4-6% each but oil will hold 15-20% for sure. Its like coaching 2 students of a class. One who tops it & the other who is last. You can plan the schedule of topper & apply it to the other person but eventually the marks of both will be different which is based on their intelligence. Not just intelligence but other factors as well but intelligence holds a much wider % of it.

I am not just bluffing in this case. its what i have observed, read & experienced about engine oil's since '06 when i was in 6th grade & just started riding bikes.
