But they atleast can give us an option for softer compound tyres, they don't even have that. Can you tell me how's the grip of the remora tyres, does it skid like the srichakra on braking?
Ovbiously any bike enthusiast like us will trade mileage for a bike that handles well. But fact is this is india. 70% of the people would be more interested in the "kitna deti hai " figure than outright grip. I have seen people riding with 140section ceat tyres in fz and when i asked them whats wrong with the mrf they said & i am paraphrasing it " bhaiya mrf to 15000km main ghis jaata hai aur badalne main 2500 chale jate hai. Ye ceat to 1800 ka hai aur chalta 22000 km hai "

As far as the remora is concerned it is way way better than the srichakras. Remoras are very good in normal days . You can even scrape your footpegs if its dry. I have done this twice. But in rains not that good. I would rate mrf>remora>srichakra

Since the tyre discussion is going on, I have been riding in winding roads a lot of late (including ghats), what I feel is that the tvs tyres do fine in dry conditions once they reach the optimum temperature. The problem is only on wet roads or when you grab a handful of brakes while the tyre ain't heated enough (I hardly use the rear brake these days, so no problem of rear wheel lock).
On one of my recent rides (with pillion), on right hand corners, the centre stand is scraping the road pretty badly. This was not the case earlier even with a pillion. Has anyone experienced this?

The centre stand on my Fi did scrape, especially with a pillion. Not sure if it's still a problem with newer models.

There is a straightforward, though may not be extremely easy solution.

When the centre stand is up and retracted, there is a tab on the upper (forward) side. This tab stops it against the rubber bush on the exhaust pipe. Have a welder remove this tab, get a nice straight piece of metal, say 3/4 to 1 inch wide, length may be 2 inches or as required to fully cover the rubber stopper, thickness maybe 3-5mm, and weld this to the lower (rear) side of the stand. This will now raise the stand enough when retracted, not to scrape the road. The angle at which you weld the new tab to the stand should be checked after a holding spot and before the final welds, that the stand does not touch the chain under any circumstances.

Yes I always thought I was scraping my silencer when I went knee down. So its the center stand eh?

We can do stuff like that? Wont it compromise our center stand?
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

Check that the cable is routed correctly. Many mechs make this mistake. Check a showroom bike to confirm the correct path.

Also check if the free play changes when handle is turned fully left and fully right.

Guys my bike has been sitting for almost one and a half month now. I'm going to start riding again from monday so do i need to change the oil first? The existing oil (Shell AX7) is only 600 km old.

Hi sanjay. I suppose there is no need for that. Just kick start it & let it idle for about 5 minutes. That is the only thing you need to do.

Hi guys,
Took out my bike after a whole week. Its been raining here for the whole week.
Tried to start the bike with KS, but it didn't start after 7-8 kicks. Started the bike with ES. Is it normal? Also noticed a sewing machine like sound from the engine, never noticed this sound before.

The sewing machine kind of sound is because of tappets settings issue. You got to get it fixed from the SVC center. They dont do this in normal servicing. You have to pay extra for the same. I believe some 100 bucks will be enough. Also before you give, as a pre-check you also try to shift the gear to first gear & check if the sound exists & also check the sound once u shift back to neutral. I felt this strange sort of issue when the problem was my bike was not exactly in neutral gear & I had this huge tappet sound & then when shifted the gear & then back to neutral the sound was gone. So I would ask you also to try the same.

Thanks susheelkumar for the information. But can I use my bike like this until the 1st service? My ODO currently stands at 60 kms. I hear the sound after riding for couple of kms specially when I am in the lower gear and going at 8-10 km/h. I have tried listening to the engine sound when idling and the sound comes after the engine heats up.

AFAIK, its okay to ride but it will effect the mileage. 60km odo & tappet issue is very unlikely. I mean for a new machinie. Better dont wait till the first service & get it checked. Before you visit the SVC confirm if this is tappet noise from a local mechanic. Dont ask him to resolve it. Get it done from service center and ask them why such issues for an extremely new bike and try to see if u can get it done free of cost. The reason why Im asking to confirm with local mechanic is because, the SVC guys have a mentality of saying no such issues even if it is present. They are damn lazy. So you should give them a picture that you know about bikes and dont play nonsense in front of you.

Thanks susheelkumar;
Is it really something to worry about? It is my first bike and I am learning to ride properly in this bike only. I really have no knowledge about bikes in general and am worried that it might be because of my riding as I am not able to smoothly engage and disengage the throttle or might have ridden on slow speeds like 14-16 km/h in 3rd gear.

14-16km/hr is 3rd gear is not good at all. Whenever you are hearing that knocking sound when u ride insanely low in high gears, make sure you down shift to lower gears.
But I dont know if that is the reason for this. Make sure you ride properly in run-in period where you maintain rpm rate upto 4k rpm. Also dont ride continuously in the same rpm for longer period. Keep increasing or decreasing speed. It will help in the long run. The first 1000km are important and determines the behaviour of your bike in later periods. prateek2210 can you help him regarding this tappet doubt.
