    Hi Guys,

My bike RTR 160, is running well. And after changing the gear shift pattern, I am hearing that sewing machine like sound a bit less now, but it hasn't gone completely. Guess I will have to look into this in 1st service. Although the bike is heating up a fair bit. When I am revving the bike upto 4K rpm, the engine sound completely changes and it feels like the engine is screaming. Is this because the bike is new?

Another thing, I am not facing any issues with the up-shifts now, it is very smooth (but the shifts are very hard and some times I get to N, during changing from 2nd to 1st) and the bike revs smoothly from 3K-4K rpm. But the down-shifts are jerky, and sometimes I feel the rear tyre locking up or skidding. I have tried to ride other bikes like splendor and pulsar 135 but the shifts are very smooth during both up-shifts and down-shifts. Do I need to hold the clutch a little longer or do I need to rev during down-shifts (saw this in some youtube videos)?

    PS: I down-shift at <3K rpm.

Just release the clutch slowly bro. You don't need to rev during down shifts because as you are shifting to a lower cog the rpm will already be >4k (if you are shifting at <3k).

Guys can u tell me the exact tyre pressures? I'm running on stock 90/90-17 front and 120/80-17 rear.
These tyre shop guys confuse me everytime they say 40 is perfect for the rear and 30 for the front! Isn't it too high?

For RTR 160, I guess the tyre pressure is 25(F) & 28(R) for solo and 30(R) with pillion. I guess I saw that in the manual. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Dont listen to them. Its 28 and 32 for front and rear.

Guys! Have anyone used xado engine oils for bikes. They have two grades for 4T engines. 10w40 & 10w60. Wanted to know if anyone have used the same and how good it is

I have another question.. will the rear pressure be the same even for 120 section tyre??

                  1) The sticker for recommended tyre pressure is there on swing arm, left side below saree guard.

2)Maximum tyre pressure that a tyre can tolerate is usually written on tyre itself.

                  3) Usually people fill up bit less air before long distance journey but I had read something totally different on a Michelin brochure some years back. It was a hard copy, don't have it with me but it was so different than usual wisdom that I didn't forget it.

It said...... While rotating, the tyre deforms when it is at 6 o'clock position and comes back to original shape at around 12 o'clock position. If the tyre pressure is kept lower, the degree of deformation and reformation is higher and it makes tyre more prone to bursts. So the brochure said that one should keep the tyre pressure bit higherthan usual if long and fast journey is anticipated. The expansion is not much and the tyre can easily accommodate it.

What I follow is the recommended pressure, neither lower nor higher regardless of the distance of journey.

                  4) Regarding tyre pressure on 120/80 tyre, I think one can use same pressure recommendation. At any given air pressure, the surface area of contact patch (contact with the road) remains same regardless of width of tyre, what changes is the shape of contact patch. Braking will depend on surface area of contact patch. So if one keeps same pressure in 120/80 tyre, braking efficiency should remain same.
In addition,at least in cycling, at same air pressure, the rolling resistance of wider tyre is less than a narrower tyre. Since it is simple physics, it should apply to motorcycle tyres as well. So at same pressure, 120/80 tyre should have lesser rolling resistance as compared to 110/80 tyre.

If one uses, 120/80 tyre in place of 110/80 (rear wheel), it is kind of over-gearing. This kind of Over-gearing will have two advantages
1: standard advantage of over-gearing for cruising.
2: If one uses smaller rear sprocket for over-gearing, acceleration becomes bit slower. If one uses wider tyre for overgearing, and inflates it to same pressure, rolling resistance will be lesser and this should negate the effect of over-gearing on acceleration, at least to some extent

Wont effect that much, stick to company mentioned pressure.

                        Hey guys
I am having a issue with my RTR 160, my bike is currently running on a FFE and the main jet has been replaced with that of ns' but the airfilter is stock, there are two foams and i have removed one to let the bike breathe better.
The problem is that the bike is still choking/puttering for a moment at higher rpms(8.5k - 10k rpm) when i apply full throttle.
I want to install something that will allow more air to pass but still captures dust.
Any free flow air filter is strict no no.
Will the airfiler of gs150r allow more air to pass or should i look for any other mod to increase air flow?
                        Waiting for your suggestions.
                        Thanks in advance.

Guys i am getting a weird issue sometimes on my RTR180..

At times my beast's idling speed goes below 1000k rpm and switches off itself with a mild single knock.

Raising the bike keeps it alive.

And at times after a good drive the idling speed is normal at 1100k as it always has.

Tried adjusting the idling rpm with a local svc.. But that didnt solve the issue. He tells it is normal.

                          Any solution for this?

Bro it happens when the engine is cold. Nothing to worry! Just keep the idling at 1.2-1.3k, this will ensure that the engine won't turn off frequently. After a 2-3 minute ride it should idle properly.

You could probably increase the diameter of the air filter cap by cutting it out. This will allow more air into the filter. Worth a try.

The gs150 filter was used by one of the members here on the rtr and it resulted in stuttering/puttering past 7k rpm I guess. So I would suggest you stay away from it
