New apache 160 4v launched with the performance figures of the current rtr 180 bs4. Design wise its very identical to rtr 200 except for the splits seats.
Looks like we won't see rtr 180 any more, as TVS cannot fit the 180 between rtr 200 and rtr 160.
Also the rtr 160 4v launched
for 81490 for carb/drum version (110/80 section tyre)
for 84490 for carb/disk version (130/70 section tyre with 200mm rear disk)
for 89490 for fi/disk version (130/70 section tyre with 200mm rear disk and 60/55w hs1 headlight)

Looks like a better option than the current rtr 180.

The RTR180 will continue to sell. I know many people who will buy the because of visible displacement sticker. The 180 will also sell in good numbers in tier 2 & 3 cities because of it's simplicity.

Shantanu from Bengaluru here. I will be taking delivery of my MY18 RTR 180(non-ABS) on Sunday (Ugadi). I booked it from a multi-brand dealer close to my home, whom I've known for a long time, and has serviced my dad's TVS Jupiter for a long time. He actually does a pretty good job (atleast better than TVS guys near my home), and he was offering a much better deal than TVS showrooms on the Apache.
So, today I went to the godown to select my bike with the guy from the showroom. He helped me select a bike from two pieces. He selected that bike because it was made in Feb-18 i.e new stock. I made him check the engine oil, and made sure that it had no scratches. Here comes the awesome part- the guy told me to ride the bike from the godown to the showroom (about 10km). PDI wasn't done, no registration, no insurance, no mirrors, no nothing. I know, it was pretty risky, but if I wouldn't ride it back to the showroom, he would in order the complete the PDI and paperwork. I became sceptical, so decided to drive it myself.
These were my observations:
1) bike took considerable amount of time to warm up.
2) the midrange power is mad, especially in third gear.
3) vibrations weren't complainsome. They actually complement the riding experience.
4) riding position is slightly aggressive for a guy coming from a TVS Jupiter.
5) watching the tachometer go up and down is kinda fun.
6) rev-matching is pretty easy, and bike feels comfortable with it.
I strictly kept it below 4k on every gear, never lugged the engine, and always rev-matched.
It was truly exhilarating. Can't wait for Sunday!!

P.S: if nobody observed, for 2018, the power output of the RTR180 has gone down to 16.62 Ps from 17.03 Ps. I couldn't really notice it. Experienced folks in this thread are requested to comment on this.

Sorry to say but you have done a mistake.
TVS just launched rtr 160 new model
and the pics of rtr 180 new model have been leaked ,TVS is just about to launch new model of rtr 180

I actually prefer this model in terms of looks as well as the sound. I'm not a particular fan of the shotgun exhaust. That being said, it is my personal opinion and you're free to disagree.

I can actually agree with him about the looks. I'm really not impressed with the looks of the rtr200 or the new 160,4v, especially when it comes to the headlight and the DRLs. The mid generation has the best looking DRLs. But, would really wish i could just swap the new engine to my bike😍.

I have 5 year old rtr 180 with almost 60k km on the odo. In last few days steering feel hard, really hard and always want to move in right side.

So what should be the reason? Steering central road bearing

Hey guys,
I've taken delivery of an RTR 180 (non-ABS) recently. It's an absolute beast. The sound is simply mesmerising.
I'm strictly following the general run-in precautions- I'm keeping it below 4k, haven't crossed 50kmph, I don't lug the engine, I rev match while downshifting, and I let the bike warm up before I start riding.
I have noticed a few things which seem a little off-
1) there is a constant keychain-dangling noise from the right side. I believe it's the valves going up and down (I may be wrong)
2) after riding for about 30 minutes or so, I can smell a bit of engine oil burning.
3) up until 3k rpm, I can only hear the induction noise. The actual sound of the bike is heard above this.
Kindly do tell me if any of these may be point(s) of concern.

1) At what RPM you are able to hear it? Once i faced this it was loose metal plate on silencer which is on right or loose right RVM.
2) Does this occur constantly or once? The SVC guys put that wax shiner on engine which in turn gets heated up and gives fouls smell and in some case fumes too
3) No Idea what you referring to as sound of bike

1) I usually hear it when I rev it/ throttle up.
2) you may be right about the shiner thing. I'll get it checked.
3) ignore this point.
I got the bike directly from the godown on that day. I do have the mirrors on now.

Great

1) Sound is probably from RVM get it tightened.

Rev your bike occasionally above 5K till you reach 1K on ODO, wont do any harm.

Using motul 20w40 semi synthetic engine oil will do any harm to the engine??? Any idea??
