Cleaning with cloth wont solve because the dust particles are between the pads. A pressure water wash should solve the issue.Originally posted by mystic_me View Post---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im not sure if there is any road in bangy which is not choked. Hope you are not running very lean.
I live in outskirts and my daily ride is 75% highway 25% village roads. No traffic 24*7*365 but village roads are bumpy ones.
Here is my last 12 months mileage report: link

I tried to clean with cloth. Yet to try to pump water in it as it was suggested way back in the thread. Any better or permanent solution for this. I don't find time to go to SVC and those guy's terrible response making me to do it myself. Please suggest !
No worries, I get that every week and it goes away by itself(maybe because I wash every weekend).Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostCleaning with cloth wont solve because the dust particles are between the pads. A pressure water wash should solve the issue.
As susheelkumar mentioned it should go away with wash.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Are you serious?😶 Im hardly getting 45kmpl. How do you test your mileage? If i go on highways i get max of 45kmpl.
How have you set your carb? I tune it when it is idling(of course after i warm up the engine).
I guess its a miracle!😝
I have been using fully synthetic oil from almost 2nd free service. So far I've tried Shell advance fully synthetic and motul 7100 10w40. IMO, Shell felt better even after 3k kms.
Also i use a 14teeth front sprocket from the rtr180.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I have not done anything. Its same stock settings and regular maintenance. I have changed parts as per manual book only.
I always fill full tank and note down ODO and compare it. And that's why I shared the chart.
I have always used TVS full synthetic oil(450rs one) from 2nd service and replace it every service(I know it can serve 1.5-2k kms more but I always change).
I have not done any changes or settings except I asked them to adjust rear shock absorber to slightly soft during 1st service. And everytime I mention them not to touch them since I like them that way.
I don't do warming on idle which everyone says here. My bike always starts at one push and I am always in hurry. But early morning I drive in 2nd gear in low speed for around 400m to get it warmed up indirectly before my usual drive.
I lube chain every 200km with 3M chain cleaner and chain lube.(I don't like motul somehow). Slackness check will be done based on need(more like once in a month). Tyre pressure I usually maintain is 28 and 32. During long drives 30 and 36.
I am now in 25k ODO and for the first time I changed to Motul 7100 10w40(4 days back). But sadly I have been working from home from past 3 days so I haven't really ridden the bike. I don't know if it matters, I have a policy(lame) of not riding above 7k rpm no matter what except some speed runs once in a while. So 85% of my runs are under 7k rpm. Highway long drive or daily runs mileage hasn't changed much to me from Day 1.
4 days back I even changed tyres of which rear is slightly fatter. Maybe coming runs might drop my mileage due to this. I have to wait and see for this.
Also I think not just me, many RTR160 owners might be getting 50s I hope.

Pirelli MT75 is not available in market anymore....U may try for Pirelli sport demon 120/80 r 17Originally posted by mystic_me View PostAfter going through this thread for while, I found following tyres best suited most of 180 owners:
Pirelli MT75 57P Tubeless for the rear
MRF Zapper FY1 (R15 v2's stock tyre) front
zapper vyde 120/80 17" (rear)
MRF zapper fy1 is good but it will you Speedo error
Zapper vyde is ok tyre..nothing so special about it...
Try mrf masseter 120/80 r17

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello people!
A couple of years back i had sold my RTR 160 as i was upgrading to ktm 390 and had to arrange money for down payment.
2 years later, fortunately i had the money so i bought her back.
Never really wanted to sell her in the first place.
Now my bike has ran stock for only 15k kms or so, after that there were always mods on her, sort of like a project bike.
Mods on the bike :-
Full system exhaust
Modded air intake
RTR 180's carb(was running a bigger jet in stock carb previously)
RTR 180's tci
Front Brake line changed to p220's steel braded lines
Master cylinder changed to ktm 390's(i changed the mc on my rc so used rc's mc in RTR)
Chain and sprocket changed to RTR 180's(oem gearing became too short after the performance upgrade, so changed to slightly longer gearing via sprocket from RTR 180)
she is due for a oil cooler installation.
After all the performance upgrades, she happily cruises arnd 100 - 105 kmph all day long and with the addition of oil cooler i guess i can also push till 110 kmph, as in the current state she does heat up a lot.
Also she no longer feels like a 160 and is even faster than a 180.
Vibes have gone down a lot after the exhaust upgrade.
Braking has become very sharp with lots of bite and good feel after the upgrade.
Armature coil has been rewinded, so she can run a couple of 55w hids and a bit more all day long (max load you can put is around 150 - 160w)
Im running r15's front tyre at front and masseter 120/80 at rear.
I have used several engine oils till now, like motul 7100, tvs tru4 synth, shell ax7, shell advance ultra and finally mobil1 racing 4T 10w40
Mobil1 racing 4T suits my bike the best.
She has ran around 40k kms till now, still on stock bore and piston although I dont know how many i have replaced the clutch assy. [emoji28]
She still runs fine and returns a FE of 36 - 40 kmpl depending on how and where i ride.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thats really cool. Can you post a few pics? Especially the air intake and exhaust. Also how much did it cost for the exhaust? Im thinking instead of other non-tested exhaust, rather put 180's exhaust to my 160.Originally posted by Rahul.g View PostHello people!

Whats the difference between the 160's TCi and 180s?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Im about to open a workshop and i do all types of modifications, the exahust was designed by me and my partner and my RTR is basically a project bike [emoji28] , it goes through all the mods we do.Originally posted by Siddhartha.S View PostThats really cool. Now comming to your post, the RTR 180's exhaust will do you no good and it wont fit either.
The tci unit basically changes the timing of spark, the unit on RTR 160 doesnt advance the ignition timing post 8k rpm, thats why went ahead with RTR 180's tci.

Why wont the rtr 180's exhaust fit? It's basically the same design with a larger diameter pipe right? Or we may use the rtr 160's header(or whatever it's called, the flange which connects the engine to the exhaust pipe) and use the larger diameter pipe of the 180 right? That can be done,??

The collar/header that goes inside the head is bigger and the plate that holds the collar in place is larger but even if you manage to fit 180's exhaust in your 160, it will do more harm than good.
Pipes are tuned according to the bike and lrts not forget you wont be removing the cat-con, so no gains.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I stay in Yelahanka which is in north Bangalore. Any good mechanic around this place? The closest I have is Hemanth but it does not have an ABS servicing unit. The next closest is Prakruti at Jalahalli but it has an ABS servicing unit. I commute on the ring road fully (daily 70kms total) and need to get the ABS unit checked. Any good suggestions people? I'm about to touch 14k kms and have just completed one year of owning this beast of a machine!
