Hi, hope you are okay and recovering.Originally posted by andy0104 View PostThanks for replying bro. But as I said, I am not in a position to ride right now and I am the only person in my family who can ride, so I guess it has to wait
The bent leg-guard can be straightened with an iron rod or similar prop -- atleast that is what they did for me, but it wasn't as bent as this one.
Its okay to take it to the SVC later, but intimate them over phone that you have met with an accident. Then call your insurance company and intimate them too. This way, you can avoid the "why didn't you tell us earlier" questions later.
Other members should be able to tell you how much the repairs would cost, and whether they will affect the bike later.
Ride safe

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi guys,
I have a 11k old RTR 160. Yesterday my friend took my bike for ride and after riding for a while found that the rear tire was punctured. He took it to puncture shop to fix it.
There were 18 punctures in all. As I was out of town and he couldn't reach me on phone, he fixed all the punctures and paid an amazing Rs 2200 for that. 😒
Later in evening he calls me, tells the whole incident. My first reaction was why the hell you paid Rs 2200 for fixing punctures when you can get new Tyre for 2400. As he's a good friend, I paid him the amount.
Now my question is that is it advisable to ride with such a Tyre or should I replace it ASAP?? Tyre is barely 11k old and have good thread. But since I go on long rides and mostly on bad to non existent roads, will the Tyre hold?

Change the tyre. It's the best choice. The tyre internal structure will be damaged and will not last long imo.Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostHi guys,

Thanks for the input. Any recommendations?? Zapper C, Pilot Sporty 110/70, Pilot Sporty 120/80, TVS Remora??Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostChange the tyre. It's the best choice. The tyre internal structure will be damaged and will not last long imo.
Does 120/80 touches swing arm and how much is the increase in height??

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Your friend got ripped off by the puncture guy, there is no way a tyre can have as many as 18 punctures and survive. Either it was a well planned puncture and the guy was the only one who could repair any in the area. Did you check to see if it had 18 spots on the tyres which were fixed? also each puncture costs 60 bucks if you can bargain and mostly in my case I always do. Also there is no possible way a tyre can have as many punctures as 18 unless it's well planned robbery.Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostHi guys,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My bike is running on 120/80 Zapper-C and it does not touch the swing arm or the chain guard. You can go for Zapper-C or Zapper Vyde 120/80. There is no increase in height as the stock tyre spec is 110/80. Only the tyre will be a little wider.Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostThanks for the input. Any recommendations?? Thanks mate. Can you give any opinion about pilot sporty?? I am confused between pilot sporty and zapper C. Which one has better wet grip?Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostMy bike is running on 120/80 Zapper-C and it does not touch the swing arm or the chain guard. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
As sanjay said, the 120/80 tyre would be a direct fit. But there would be a small lag in acceleration as contact area increases. Also, mine is RTR 160.. I'm currently using Zapper vyde.. No doubt it's a very good tyre, but in my next tyre change I would prefer a 110/80 tyre..Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostThanks for the input. Any recommendations?? And there would be a negligible change in height as well (8mm).. If your old tyre was worn out, you will feel the difference..It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thanks. How's the wet grip of Zapper VYDE?? And does the lag in acceleration noticeable?? I am concerned with not losing the typical Apache style pickup.Originally posted by satish_patil View PostAs sanjay said, the 120/80 tyre would be a direct fit. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
The grip is very good on dry, wet and sand surfaces. The tyre saved me lot of times during panic braking. The difference in acceleration is not too much but noticeable.Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostThanks. How's the wet grip of Zapper VYDE?? And does the lag in acceleration noticeable?? I wish there was an option for Zapper vyde in 110/80 section..Last edited by satish_patil; 02-18-2016, 11:24 AM.It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Buddy I would not recommend the pilot sporty because you said you will be riding through rough roads. It is a soft compound tyre instead you can go for Zapper Vyde which has very good cornering grip or you can go for Zapper c which is good too(my current tyre)Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostThanks mate.
