Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Please take the bike for a thorough check up to the svc. After the check up you can post it here what the svc said.Originally posted by somesht3 View PostHello, i need a help of yours.
I own 2015 Apache RTR180
ODO- 14534kms
The handle bar of my bike starts vibrating anywhere between 3k upto redline. ( i know rtr vibrates but in my case the vibrations are damn higher) + the sound of my bike is bit different from other rtrs. it is not free raving like others. (i use shell advance ax-7 10w40)
bike idles at 1.2k rpm but if i leave my bike idling slowly it comes to 0.9k-0.8k and gets off. and when ever i fire engine i get smell of petrol. i have no idea from where it comes. there is noise of tik tik from engine head. i visited sc many times but they are never helpful to me.
so, i will appreciate if i can get what exactly the solution is.
Thanks.TVS Apache RTR 180 (2014 - ….)

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
GAH!
Big big problems with my RTR 180 ABS beast.
Bike Details -
white RTR 180 ABS, Beast model
15 months old , 11k on the odo.
So the problems started with the service in January at the Gachibowli, Hyderabad service center.
first paid service, mentioned the below problems to be fixed -
1) Front brake lacking bite - new Pads obviously
2) Hell a lot of vibrations - new rubbers for the nuts maybe
3) Mileage down to 35 - check the engine
and what was given back to me?
They charged me 2k, acceptable, for the new brake pads and an entire new Sprocket + Chain assemble set as the old one was worn out.
I thought, fair enough, go ahead.
problems started a week later. was on a flyover and i depress my rear brake pedal and bam, the pedal just kept going all the way down without giving the slightest of braking. luckily, avoided panic and got the bike to safety.
I go to the showroom later and they say, ABS problem, needs software update!!
So, i am without the bike for 2 days, and then it comes back with the problem solved apparently?
But no! a week later, same issue, but by now i was prepared for it and luckily wasnt in a crunch situation (praise be to the Lord!) .
also, mileage dropped to 30!! vibrations increased as well.
So, got another round of fixing done 3 days back.
apparently engine nuts were loose, so mileage has improved to 45 now (WTF right? this is my best ever)
Brakes are performing as expected (hope it stays the same)
got Motul 7100 oil, last oil change was 4000 kms back.
Any one else faced a similar issue anytime?
also, planning on going for the MRF Radials REVZ series 120.
worth it ? opinions ?#Shadowfax Apache RTR 180 ABS - 2014 - 2019

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I dont use the AX7, I have been using the 7100 Motul for 4500 kms now. Its pretty good. vibrations are a bit lesser for sure. But change interval of 3500-4000 seems ideal.Originally posted by Devil99 View PostHey Raman how was the performance with ax 7?

What exactly are you looking for?Originally posted by shadcool786 View PostI'm looking for a detailed review of Apache rtr 180 with abs specially for the ABS part since I want to know how the abs performs under everyday condition, if anyone up for it let me know.
The engine has its own character. Its almost an enthusiasts piece. the roar is worth it all.
BUT, you will face vibrations. loads of it. everywhere. Don't cry about it, don't keep moaning about it. Accept it and you will love the Apache.
Has good enough power for the city and the Throttle response, by God, is it good!
Good handling, nimble bike, decent mileage.
ABS is wonderful, a life saver and a pocket saver too. Saved me from many a crash and gives you that ease of mind that something is there to have your back. Helps you enjoy the ride better.
All said and done, don't get a RTR ABS. Go for the 200 4v instead.#Shadowfax Apache RTR 180 ABS - 2014 - 2019

I'm planning to go for the 200 4v Apache with Efi, Pirelli's, ABS either in Matt black or Matt red, havn't decided as of yet, since I want to see all the colors in flesh before I jump that wagon. I wanted to know more about the ABS system in the 180's about the maintenance and about any malfunctions if any..Originally posted by Raman Swaminathan View PostWhat exactly are you looking for?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Maintenance is on the costly side(for me). The abs sensors if one goes bad needs to be changed in pairs(1650 each including installation). I had to change both when my bike was 2yrs & 11500kms old. I had changed the front one when it had gone bad but after few days the rear one also gone kaput. Then I was told by the svc to change them in pairs.

My personal experience:-
ABS is a definite lifesaver !! It has saved me from many many "heart-in-mouth" situations. (Imagine, Braking hard from 80-0 with sand on road and a huge tree in exactly in your path).
I have a RTR180 ABS who is 5 years. Never got any problem with the ABS system. Only two time the ABS light was constantly ON was the time my bike was crashed (the digital console and speedo went crazy) and once after a "diesel wash" (the idiot sprayed too much diesel on disc and ABS sensor). I solved the problems by cleaning the proximity sensor with Brake cleaner spray.
As the ABS system is electronic in nature, dust will tend to damage or hamper the electronics (like any other electronics system). Regular cleaning of sensor and junctions of wires are required.
Pros:
1. Excellent braking in wet, sand and gravel.
2. Gives good Confidence to new riders.
3. RLP is a good feature.
4. One can change lane/direction or avoid obstacles even under hard braking.
Cons:
1. Inspires over-confidence.
2. A good set of tyres will complement the ABS system. (Since you are going for pirelli, dont bother)
3. Robs "brake feel". (I'm not sure as to why anyone will prefer the "feel" over safety for on-road)
4. One needs to be extra careful while removing and putting back the wheels, as the sensor on the wheel might get damaged, bent or break off.
Facts:
1. One needs to get accustomed to the pulsation of the ABS,which occurs under very hard braking.
2. The ABS system components are indeed expensive. In case of accident damage.
3. The sensor has to be cleaned periodically.
4. Avoid pumping the brakes manually. Apply pressure constantly, let the ABS pulsate in need be.
5. The softer the tyre the later the ABS kicks in, as tyres offer better grip and tyres dont lock up easily. It does not mean braking reduces.
6. Brake fluid has to be replaced every year to keep the system clean and avoid brake fade. (Applies for all bikes)
7. One can observe that the weight transfer onto the front can be very very slight disrupted because of pulsating braking.
P.S :- ABS or no ABS, the rider is the most important tool in riding safe.Last edited by vivekgautams; 02-17-2016, 10:12 AM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hey guys,
Hope you all are doing well
.
My bike was doing well up until last friday, when I met with an accident. I was out riding my bike in the early morning and while returning, near an under construction road section, two guys on a new xtreme (helmetless but wearing sunglasses) tried to overtake a rickshaw. I was riding parallel to the rickshaw in the opposite direction. They came in fast, I guess hit the rickshaw, lost balance and then hit me on my right side, because the only thing I remember before the accident is them coming fast and next thing I remember is I am down and my leg is stuck under the bike. The other rider was hit hard on his knee, he looked dazed. I am hit pretty hard on my right wrist, there is swelling and am not able to move my right hand much. Thankfully other than this, no major injury, not even a single scratch.
The bike suffered some damage. The bar end weight is bent, crash guard is bent, rear brake lever is bent, these are the visible damages as far as I can see. After the accident I rode for about 65 kms to reach home, so no problem as such with the bike. But there is an annoying sound (like something some rattling) from the front section now at speeds between 55 and 65 km/h and after or before these speeds there is no sound. Surprisingly, after the accident I never felt much pain, it is after I reached home and tried to park my bike, I felt some searing pain. Its still pretty bad but improving.
Can you guys help me with a rough cost estimation to repair my bike? Also the symptoms of chassis bent if any or any other damage since I am not able to ride now or take it to the svc.
Here are some pictures of the visible damage of my bike:

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Take it to Svc asap or a trustly mechanic who can help you check out the internal damage if any also the damage already on your bike is minor and can be changed but the part where there is a rattle at higher speed needs to be checked"Biking: the Under-Rated and Drug-Free Antidepressant"

Thanks for replying bro. But as I said, I am not in a position to ride right now and I am the only person in my family who can ride, so I guess it has to waitOriginally posted by shadcool786 View PostTake it to Svc asap or a trustly mechanic who can help you check out the internal damage if any also the damage already on your bike is minor and can be changed but the part where there is a rattle at higher speed needs to be checked
