    **UPDATE**
A short update on the motul 5100 15w50 I am using. I have been using it since the last 600 kms. I am very much happy with the refinement & throttle response offered by motul. Very minimal drop in mileage(just 1kmpl). It takes about 2 minutes to warm. After that it works like a charm. I have a trip next weekend. Will update after that.

        ^^
No suggishness yet brother. I just idle it for about a minute meanwhile I close the garage, wear my helmet. After that I am off. While using shell I used to feel jerking when the bike had just warmeed up. Now though its gone. I am planning to use it for around 2500kms. I have already done 650+ in a 40 days

So its time for replacement of chain sprocket set on my rtr 180 for the first time in 44k kms (my bike is running on the rtr 160 (44T) rear sprocket for the past 14k kms and I would like to continue doing so)

The specs of rtr 180 chain sprocket kit are:
          front sprocket: 14T
          Rear sprocket: 46T
          Chain links: 130 links

The specs of rtr160 chain sprocket kit are:
          front sprocket: 13T
          Rear sprocket: 44T
          chain links: 124 links

I am looking for a combination of front sprocket of rtr180 (14T), rear sprocket of rtr160 (44T) and chain of rtr 180 (130 links). Now the problem is the rear sprocket and chain are sold as a set and I am not able to find only the rear sprocket as a single unit in the market. So my only option is to buy the rear sprocket-chain set of both rtr 160 and 180 and then use the chain of rtr 180 and rear sprocket of rtr160. If anyone is willing to buy a new chain of rtr160 and/or a new rear sprocket of rtr 180 from me then please do let me know

More ideas on how to go about this are welcome!

Hi Abishek, would like to know more about this setup specially from your 14k km experience. How does the bike feels on highway, city traffic & on hills. What's your RPM at 80kmph? or at other speed?

Let's hope that in future motul India adds 5100 10w40 into it's Indian portfolio....

Did 600km on a tank full of fuel and still there was fuel in the the tank. A tank range of 600km is really helpful on long rides. Thumbs up to the veedol I am using, very happy with the oil.

                  Wow !!
That is even better than what my rtr did. On a reserve to reserve basis I got around 585kms. I was using the tvs oil.

Great! Thanks for the reconfirming. TVS fully synthetic oil is really good.

I'm running a Philips Rally 130/100 (with a relay and full wiring harness). No issue running a high wattage bulb as long as it is in high or low beam(some times it tends to use 230W thanks to TVS switch).
The best setup would be a 85/80 or even 100/90 with a relay and wiring harness. The bulbs I would recommend, Hella Rallye 100/90, Philips Rally 100/90 and Osram All season 85/80.
Hi, Recently I purchased a used apache rtr 180 2011 Model, I like to change the 35W Headlight bulb to Philips 60/55W bulb, What r the steps I have to do ?
                      1) Whether I have to make the setting with cutout relay ? Idea about Cost ?
                      2) Or shall I replace the bulb as simple ?
                      3) I like to change the default pilot lamps with LED white bulbs . Is it possible ?

On straights, its a boon. 100kmph comes up at 7k rpm..
At 6k rpm it does 85kmph. This setup is really good for cruising with not much compromise on acceleration.
Traffic - you will hardly feel any difference while riding solo. With pillion also its not so bad, but you will definitely notice drop in pulling power with pillion.
Hills- you will definitely notice a drop in acceleration with this setup, its actually pretty slow in the hills. So if you ride often in hilly regions then this setup ain't recommended.
The low end torque remains the same while the mid range takes a hit.
^(all this is relatively speaking of course.)

I am using the 15T front sprocket of pulsar 180 UG3,with the original set up of apache 180.More than 10k km over.Works fine.Managed to completely get vibes out of 50 to 70kmph range as that is where I usually ride.Engine feels much more relaxed and balanced and fuel efficiency certainly improved. But note that I am running 1st generation R15 rear tyre so that also make the gear a bit more short being a low profile tyre than the OE ones.In bumper to bumper traffic with a heavy pillion it is more difficult to pull ahead, needs more right hand.

                          • "Kat...kat..."Noise from my RTR 180 only while accelerating

Recently my bike is producing some strange noise from drive chain area, something like kat..kat... initially for few secs ONLY WHEN I ACCELERATE

                            1) I thought this sound might be due to dry chain. Tried lubricating the chain but no help.
                            2) This noise comes up only when i accelerate. I confirmed this by riding in downhill. No sound when not accelerated.
The moment i turn up the accelerator this sound shows up for first few secs (hmmm....may be after that too but i'm not hearing anything post that due to wind noise at speeds above that).

Anyone faced this issue? What it could be?

I have had drive chain noises, and they were almost entirely because of incorrect chain slack. The "kat kat" sound could be due to an over-tight chain. Inspect your chain slack. It should be within 20 to 25mm.

Also, are you sure the noise isn't from the timing chain? A loose timing chain produces a low noise (it sometimes sounds like a faint horn sound from your bike) while accelerating (the noise will appear to be coming from the front, though). I have also found that this noise starts only after a certain rpm. If this is your case, get your timing chain adjusted from the SVC.

Post here if you have further queries, and other members should be able to help you out
                              Happy riding.
