Actually, I thought sticking to tru4 until the the fifth free service. I complained about false neutrals and the SVC guys changed the oil to synthetic without informing me. And as you said shell ax7 is in my mind too..this thread spoiled me

On a side note, after going through the fiero thread, I am itching to install an oil cooler..I know it does improve performance. Has anyone installed one on the Apache? Just curious

I am just about 1000 kms from my 5th service, so...

There was some talk of oil coolers in this thread some time ago. Try searching.

Yes, i have searched this thread already. People were discussing about the topic, but I could not find anyone who actually installed it. So, I've asked the question again. May be I should allow the bike to complete 10k km before I modify something

Better yet, wait till your warranty expires. You never know when you'll need it.

              Hi.
Hey you can use any engine oil as per your preference. Whenever you go for a service at your svc, just tell them not to change the oil. Thats it. You buy the oil filter, your preffered oil & go to your mechanic to change it. Better still if you know how to change it, do it. After my 3rd service I stopped using tvs oil just because it didnt satisfy my need. I used shell ax7 for 1800 kms. Worked better than tvs oil. Now I am using motul 5100. This is slightly better than shell.

The P200 NS is not in production as of now. So even if the svc guys have an NS available ita bound to be old stock. The RTR is a brilliant bike and if maintained well does the job pretty well.

Although if I were you, I would have gone for the AS or waited for NS FI bound to be relaunched shortly. Another good option coming up is the Apache 250 or 200 (dun remember). This one is bound to give Bajaj a run for their money.

Bhai.. Take test rides and then decide for yourself because all of us can suggest but at the end of the day its going to be you on the saddle.

P.S. I have an NS, yes it has its share of issues, but then, which bike doesnt. I am proud to be an NSian.

                • Facing the hiccups Issue

Hi All. Forgive me for the long post. I am facing an issue with my 3 month old rtr 180 abs version. I ve gone through this forum. Please dont be rude that Ive not done it. I am not sure about what I should do now.Detailing the issue below.

                  Visit 1
to Service Centre - For second Service

No Issues as of now. Had just gone to get the scheduled service done at around 2.5kms at At 2500km i had given for second service, at the ramkay tvs medavakkam .Service done and bike was delivered.
On returning, I started facing the famous hiccup and stall issue on my rtr 180 .he bike has hiccups near about 3-4k rpm in 3rd and 4th gears. Also in lower gears with sudden increase in throttle.
I had no such issues until my 2nd service. SVC has screwed up something.
                  Visit 2 :
The bike had hiccups while riding. I went and detailed the issue to an engineer and he took the bike for a spin and said that there are no issues and they wont touch the carb during service , unless complained.
                  Visit 3:
In a weeks time the hiccups increased and at the end it didnt even start in the mornings. So i had the bike taken to the service station in a carrier vehicle and they said there is dust in the carb. It has been cleaned and the issue wont occur.
                  Visit 4:
On the very next day i was able to feel the issue again. When i took it to service centre the issue was not occcuring for some reason. So the guys asked me to come only when i could show the issue to them.

I am worried about this state of my 3 month old bike. Should i tune the carb myself following the online instructions.
My current carb tune done by the svc guys is 1.5 turns from the leanest possible mixture. Is 1.5 turns normal or too lean.

Is there any factory number of turns or revolutions of the fuel screw like 2 or 3 for the rtr 180?

Or should i hunt for some other service center. Help Please

Atleast let bike run for 3k kms before touching carb. Also post a pic of spark plug , we can see if bike is running lean or rich .

P.S : bikes are factory tuned little lean to comply emission norms and strike a balance between performance and emission.

                        Mate,

ask them if they changed the tappet settings. Also check for fuel tank/filter clogs.

hi friend I too faced the hiccups issue, form second service onward so i am going to tell you the steps taken by me to get rid of the problem
                          (1) sent the mail to the company.
                          (2) got the carb retuned ,changed the spark plug and cap but no effect
                          (3) try to open the carb to check stuck butterfly and broke the top cover of carb, however got it replaced under warranty(just because of email) ,even after carb replacement problem was there.
                          (4) got tappet checked
                          (5) finally got the TCI changed (new model does not have TPS) ,problem vanished 99%,however the old TCI was green in colour where as new one was in grey, like that of RTR 160.In spite of 99% solution of problem ,my suspicious mind was thinking that they have installed RTR 160 TCI so sent another mail to TVS and they replied the new TCI is grey in colour.so they have introduced new TCI why ? it means there is some problem with green colour TCI
                          (4) now my overflow pipe started dripping fuel so got the float level adjusted and wow the problem vanished 100%
2030 " we used to ride petrol motorbike and you can not even afford one drop of it"

Same issue occurred to me when I had the rtr. Check the tps switch. It's below the petrol tank mostly on the chassis. Corrosion damaged the switch in my bike and after replacing it, the bike was back to normal.

No.. It was my brother's bike. He's out of station and I had the bike for around 3 months. After I bought my bike I gave the rtr to my bro. BTW, my bike is p180. Chose pulsar against rtr since it felt like floating in the air on the rtr at speeds above 100. Moreover, since it's with my bro, I can always change the bike anytime. My main criteria was stability on the highways and the p180 fulfilled it perfectly.
