Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Is there a decrease in mileage ?Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostThe oil level started decreasing after about 1400 kms buddy. But can't be sure that oil is the culprit because i had to change bore-piston later as the bore had started to consume oil. So basically its a good oil. I would suggest it for your ride but during city rides it takes a while to warm up and bike doesn't start easily and requires a few cranks. I go on rides but when my bike was running on this oil i rode about 80% in the city and went for rides within 250kms max.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Very negligible drop buddy. Nothing to worry about. Say if i got 42kmpl before, i used to get 41-40 when using 5100. Not less than that!Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostIs there a decrease in mileage ?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You can buy a 150ml or 100ml Hp/Bp 's DOT 4 brake fluid for some Rs100 or so. (I don't remember the exact volume or the price). Its not the best brake fluid but its a good vfm. 100/150ml is just right for a brake fluid replacement but if you spill some fluid you will run short.Originally posted by suj View Postis it available in 250ml pack????
Motul synthetic DOT3 &4 brake fluid is available in market but only in 500ml pack.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hey guys,
My bike is due for piston rings and timing chain replacement (worn out) . My observation is that almost all RTRs (and a few other TVS bikes) leak/seep engine oil from a few joints of the engine :- 1.crankcase-cylinder 2. cylinder-head 3. head-head cover. I' ve understood that TVS uses a pre-cut rubber gasket for the crankcase - cylinder joint and use a gasket maker for the rest of the joints.
I have got tired of cleaning the engine oil and dirt and muck stuck to the engine. I want to put an end to this irritation while replacing the piston rings and time chain.so guys need your valuable experiences ,advice and help.
My doubts are:-
1. Do TVS use their own RTV gasket maker ? what is its specifications?
2. I have read that a few members here are using "Anabond 666T red " RTV gasket maker. Has the anabond stopped the leak/seep?? Anabond has a temperature rating till 250 deg C. or a product with higher temperature rating is required?
3. I'v seen many bajaj pulsars and most of them have NO leak nor signs of seepage of oil from any of the joints. I'v also researched that Bajaj uses "Loctite Grey RTV silicon liquid gasket maker"and "Loctite thread locker". Has anyone used the same for RTR? What is the results?
4. Is there any other product which will put an end to the oil seep?

famous hiccups problem in RTR 180
Hello friends I need your help to solve the famous hiccups problem in RTR 180.I am getting hiccups in lower RPM and in morning only .There is no starting problem the bike always start with single kick and then I let it idle for one minute and depress the clutch lever several time before moving, upto this point there is no problem but as soon as I start moving it asks for RPM above 3000 and if I ride below 3000 RPM it keeps jerking for at least one Km and then problem suddenly disappears .The current odo 3900km with two free service done. The experiment done by me so far are as follows:
(1) Clutch and throttle cable free play checked and kept at recommended level after playing with them at different setting.
(2) Drive chain slackness checked
(3) Brake checked
(4) Drained the petrol form carburettor and there is no water in it.
(5) Tappets checked
(6) Tried to clean the carburettor and broke the top cap, however got it replaced it under warranty

.
Now the ASC people are asking to leave the bike with them for overnight ,so that they can check it in the morning which I am reluctant to do.By the way who leaves his love among other people for night.
